Lawbringer unfortunately falls under the category of hero that has been grossly mishandled over the years. The only difference between him and the others is that because so many people play him, it gets far more scrutinized by the community when his changes are...less than ideal. I mean come on, who thought that buttering up the bottom of his boots was a good idea? And yeah when they finally did add the roll catcher. it uh...I'd like to say they tried, but that would imply there was effort. Its so bad on all aspects, it isn't even effect at catching dodges, it just looks wierd.
Yeah, when I looked at the “new move” in the training arena it felt very rigid. When you look at roll catch animations on other heroes you can see how fluid they are and that it’s not just two reused animations poorly glued together. A lack of effort indeed.
Idc how bad old lawbringer was I miss his old light punish that blinded and his skewer. His offense was atrocious but his defense made up for it. Was the most satisfying hero in the game for me
People cried about being punished on their attacks, that’s why they removed the blinding effect. Raider having his blind removed from his stunning tap was reasonable considering it was on a spamable dodge attack, but Lawbringers Parry blind and top heavy finisher blind were in response to a read. It’s like Gladiator and Kensei

Lawbringer and Warden should have two distinct move sets. And Warmonger should be a cross between the two while at the same time being different herself. She has the bash of Warden mixed in with the Lawbringer skewer and overall better chains than the both of them.
I remember the days when alot of the hero’s require some sort of brain power in order to use or master with or even uniqueness. Now that almost every hero has some sort of dodge attack, it feels like I’m playing against the same one but with a different paint job. I was drawn to zhanhu because of how unique you can play with him. He is also the only hero I have 70 reps with and now 80.I currently play Sohei now because of how unique he is. He might not be as strong as the outlanders or others but dammit he is fun to play with.
Ever there was talk about LB rework, I wanted one thing for him: give him a dedicated bash counter. Maybe have long arm be invul to bashes? Or have him automatically dodge backwards before ling arming people? Anyway, I don't know how they managed to destroy his gameplan so much, given how he was a feint-monster nad a hard punisher. RIP LB, at least they didn't murder your drip.

Roll catcher should have been a chase move like afeeras bash that has him run after his opponent with 500ms hyperarmor and then impale once he gets in range, LB steadily will get faster as they run away to make sure he can catch them. "Inescapable justice"
The Destiny exotic weapon analogy is kinda funny considering some of the coolest moments of the game’s history was when an exotic was secretly added to the game with no indicator on how to get it. Also I miss shove on block. Good times back then.

Dodge forward into zone or something like that, i think that would look smoother and would have better tracking (unless im stupid). Or, hear me out. A low CD feat specificly designed for roll catching. Tier 1, no dmg, very short stun. Something like throwing a rock. But i digress ubi knows best! (Ocelotl still has EVERYTHING in their kit man....)

A hero labeled as a “counter attacker” but having nothing to distinguish normal attacks and counter attacks, ain’t exactly what I’d call an update. Like with so many heroes, just felt like the ripped away identity and uniqueness for the sake of convenience and simplicity. And his role catch is pretty shite too lmao
I've noticed there a lot of heroes that are improperly labeled counter attacker. Like no matter how much Ubi tries to gaslight me Pirate is not a counter attacker I do not care what you say.
A good dodge heavy for LB would be Dodge Forward> Heavy> *Impaling Charge Stance*> Rushed Forward while consistently draining stamina. Similar to Lance in monster Hunter; hell maybe after a while make it unblockable

Even if they're as wack as the new roll catchers(I won't even go on a tangent about how Aramusha used to have feintable D.F heavies too before his rework but they looked way nicer),They put him in line with the rest of the cast. That is something I’ve noticed too, it seems like weapons you would think to be very deadly aren’t really. And there are characters who can tank and hyperarmor through attacks that don’t look like they should be able to.

He didn't need a buff to become another too op character. All I wanted for him was some hyper armor, and that's all. Possibly they should do something with Non Supersex to make it somehow more usable. And he started getting buffs and other goodies. It seems cool, but every time I see a buff I have one. What for? He wasn't really bad. He needed a few tweaks, nothing more. I had a long break from this game and came back to it a few months ago. So I didn't even know that he got some Rework which I immediately felt when returning to the game. But now I see this passe of his weird buffs.
i play lawbringer to his skill ceiling instead of his skill floor. only really using dodge bash occasionally in fights to counter mostly other bashes and hyper armor. i think they did a fine job with lawbringer BUT his skill FLOOR is now really boring to fight against. idk what you could do to fix players just abusing the skill floor bcz it’s easier than playing the skill ceiling.
I’m not the biggest fan of Lawbringers reworks, but I think it’s important to point out that old Lawbringer wasn’t in a very good spot either. His offense was so shit while his defense was so good that old Lawbringer was kind of forced to just stare down their opponents and go for as many parries as possible which wasn’t that fun for either side. At least now, Lawbringer is encouraged to play more actively even if it is arguably less skillful. Also, while I certainly agree that roll catcher is pretty stupid it works that way for a reason. Lawbringer has always had the ability to cancel a forward dodge with an opener light or heavy and this is the only roll catcher option that keeps his ability to do it. As terrible as that roll catcher is, I understand why the devs went with that option and can respect the attempt at trying to keep that aspect of Lawbringer’s identity intact.
They genuinely could've taken lawbringer's top unblockable animation and just have him scooching forward during it and that would be a better looking and more weighty gap closer Pretty sure plenty of other characters have their closers locked to top attacks so doubt it would be a problem here

I'd rather have at least had it only be a light for the cancel and at least have it get tracking even if it is awkward af animation wise still. Also please nerf the dodge bash movement if nothing else. I loved lb for being heavy and hard to move, and for a time the rework was at least that even if it was incomplete. Then he got the oro treatment and for the first time in over 7 years I stepped away from lb.

Lawbringer has always been the unga bunga dodge bash hero since his inception. It used to have hyper armour, which made him the best hero in the game but that is a serious throwback. People are still playing Lawbringer the exact same way on the defensive end. On offence he is now way more interesting. Lawbringer now is a very competent hero in both duels and team fights unless you go against the brain dead dodge cancel ingrate bastard pay-to-win characters. - Really high damage - Excellent in-chain offence and finisher offence (Also cannot be guard broken if opponents make correct reads as his in-chain shove has no gb vulnerability in a 1v1 basically) - Good feats The roll catcher is functional but I want to strangle ubisoft every time I fly past an enemy.

A couple takes of mine, possibly hot: 1) Lawbringer has never been amongst the actual worst heroes. Maybe in the bottom 15, but "bad" is not remotely applicable. He went from broken (Shob on block) to middle of the road to braindead. Never has he been bad. 2) Lawbringer could be given an undodgeable hyperarmored damaging charged bash that chains into a guaranteed 95 damage heavy and Lawbringer mains would still complain. I genuinely think Lawbringer players are the biggest complainers in the entirety of For Honor and it's completely based on the delusion that Lawbringer is somehow weak 3) Hottest of all; I respect Afeera and Orochi mains more the Lawbringer mains because of point 2. At least the former know what their characters are. Even though he's demonstrably braindead I guarantee they still ask for more hyper armor because MuH pLaTe ArMr1!
i cant help the fact that when you were using bash chain lights you were doing top light every single time which does 25%(9dmg) less damage compared to doing side lights(12dmg) which is very inefficent when playing lawbringer 🤓☝
I’ve been playing lawbringer since shove on block. This state of the character is the WORST I’ve ever played as. To me they have completely stripped his identity. Not every character needs to be good to be fun. They could have given him heavy parry impale back combined with roll catch and fuck I would’ve been happier than what he is now

I wanted him to have hyper armor on his openers, his heavy damaged buffed (we got that I know but too minimal as usual), guranteed impales after heavy parry again like it was, and a different roll catcher that changes his move not giving him skate shoes. This year Ubisoft is just scrapping the bottom of the barrel and throwing it out there like with most of the hero skins so far, a collab nobody wanted (Destiny 2 cough cough*), and months of waiting just for slap on disappointing reworks. The future of For Honor is entirely dependent on Ubisoft and right now it's not looking good for them given the Tencent buy out that's approaching soon. If Ubisoft and For Honor devs did one simple thing and gave players what they ACTUALLY WANTED this situation could have been avoided. But well see how long For Honor will survive, if you've seen how XDefiant turned out this game may go down that similar road if they don't change their direction.
I'm even more scared to see what roll catcher Conqueror might get, if the poor man ever gets changed again by Ubi that is. My hopes would be for a running animation where he then slam his shield against the fleeing opponent kind of like his current run-bash animation when not locked on someone. But odds are Ubisoft will just butter his boots and make him slide while doing a top heavy swing of his flail.
The worst part is of course when Ubisoft is going through financial trouble they decide GWAK GWAK! LETS BUFF THE LAW!! Better late than never I guess. But due to the amount of Law players, they might nerf him. Because what’s Ubisofts motto? If the character is good, nerf them. 🫡

Not every character needs to be good to be fun. They could have given him heavy parry impale back combined with roll catch and fuck I would’ve been happier than what he is now

I don’t really think he has a unique gimmick anymore. So many heroes have doge bash lights and the infinite chains now, it’s insane is what it is.

I wanted him to have hyper armor on his openers, his heavy damaged buffed (we got that I know but too minimal as usual), guranteed impales after heavy parry again like it was, and a different roll catcher that changes his move not giving him skate shoes.
This year Ubisoft is just scrapping the bottom of the barrel and throwing it out there like with most of the hero skins so far, a collab nobody wanted (Destiny 2 cough cough*), and months of waiting just for slap on disappointing reworks. The future of For Honor is entirely dependent on Ubisoft and right now it's not looking good for them given the Tencent buy out that's approaching soon. If Ubisoft and For Honor devs did one simple thing and gave players what they ACTUALLY WANTED this situation could have been avoided. But well see how long For Honor will survive, if you've seen how XDefiant turned out this game may go down that similar road if they don't change their direction.
I'm even more scared to see what roll catcher Conqueror might get, if the poor man ever gets changed again by Ubi that is. My hopes would be for a running animation where he then slam his shield against the fleeing opponent kind of like his current run-bash animation when not locked on someone. But odds are Ubisoft will just butter his boots and make him slide while doing a top heavy swing of his flail.
They need to add back his spinning zone attack. It was unique and cool and unfortunately we can’t have nice things in this game anymore.
