In '52 & '53, the 235 was offered as an option for these trucks. Although it generally was used as standard in the larger "Loadmaster" trucks. You are correct that the 235 was the standard pickup engine in '54, as the 216 had been discontinued in '53.

Not too original! That is a 1954 or newer engine. Much better than the 216 that would be correct!
