  • Br. Karel had some extra time during the pandemic, so he built a textile chest using 17th-century woodworking techniques (with some help from his new apprentice). Three and a half months worth of work in 15 minutes!
Be on the lookout later this fall when we will be auctioning this chest, along with other pieces by Br. Karel.

    Superb.
FWIW I’d never put my hand in the way of any sort of hammer. Maybe not today or tomorrow but one day….😮

blown away. I love working with hand tools. Every step beautifully documented. Texturing the panels. Oh my. Draw bores, just everything is spot on. I’m going to tell everyone to watch this.

Always a pleasure to see that something beautiful can be made of wood without the requirement of a Powermatic 10 inch joiner, a Laguna Bandsaw or a Sawstop Table Saw........

That chest is gorgeous! The music was lovely, too, and I appreciated the bonus Pambo.

A meditative work of art, Brother Karel. I hope that it is awarded a public place of display in the abbey. Thank you for letting us see the master at work while Pambo played.

This is incredible work and beautifully filmed - how does it have so few likes? Absolutely fantastic work, I love it! Br. Karel we are kindred spirits - I too (try to) make wooden furniture with hand tools only and I have a lovely rascally dog too :) What a joy to watch.
