@@wellzrttv Happy new year Wellz! And also, something I forgot to put in my comment regarding why Makima's death is so satisfying, is the fact that Nayuta showing up JUST days after Máxima died, means she got jumped in hello. Remember, devils died on earth amd then revive in hell, and only after dying in hello they are reborn on earth. So she got probably spawn killed
happy new years, regtgarding your ending feeling about makima, nayuta isnt makima, she is the new reincarnation of the control devil. aditionally, being beaten by DENJI and NOT chainsawman is liek the worst thing that can happen to her
i personally like how makima died, you gotta remember that whenever a devil dies, it gets reincarnated in hell first before getting reincarnated again (in this case, nayuta) and makima getting reincarnated back on earth so soon basically means that she got jumped in hell lol
"Chainsaw man does not spit, wear clothes, nor talk" Makima projected her desires and assumptions onto chainsaw man without truly understanding him, just like Denji did to Makima. They don't understand anything about someone or something they wanted the most. Ignorance ain't no bliss
Pochita ran through the weapon devils the first time easily. He's very powerful even in a weakened state, it makes sense that the second fight with the weapon devils did not last long. Torturing makima is not a good idea, every attack on her results in a random citizen's death. They needed to end her asap. Makima wished for chainsaw man to eat her, so having denji eat her instead is already the ultimate disrespect. And makima is not that bad.
“It felt too fast” yeah, it’s almost like you skimmed most of the scenic panels and only actually took in the panels with text. ofc it’s gonna feel fast when you read it fast and never stop to take in the scene. Fujimoto makes his manga look very cinematic so if you imagine it as a book where all you do is read, it’s gonna suck pretty bad. A tip that has helped me process reading manga a lot is to imagine it as a anime, and tbh it makes reading manga so much fun man. TLDR, stop skimming pages and take time to breathe and take in what you just read, because when those pages of no text appear they are there for a reason.
Heard. Im not skimming though. I get what you’re trying to say. We all process things differently, but I don’t think this method would have changed my perception of that finale. I will re read it though on my own and take in the art a bit more like you said. Maybe do a bit more of that for part 2 too 🙏
@@wellzrttv Yeah I think your approach was completely fine, but you do miss out on a great aspect of the manga if you don't take some scenes slowly. Definitely something I got to appreciate on my second read through.
@@hatty101 Makima is a fourth horseman so she's probably a well known devil and its said before that the control devil isn't actually that strong on its own she could only fight the darkness devil before because of all the contracts she had but in hell without all her contracts shes weak asf
"Despite not knowing him at all, he chose you". Wow, Makima is literally the basement dweller tier 3 sub/top donator gooner of Chainsaw Man's Twitch channel. "Chainsaw Man doesn't spit"? You are not even irl friends how would you know? He doesn't even know you lil sis, you were just his discord mod jesus! Also happy new year everyone.
That's what makes her an incredible villain. She's toxic fandom personified. She thinks she understands Pochita better than anyone, to the point where her downfall is underestimating his bond with a 16-year old idiot
And the greatest thing is, she’s saying this straight to Pochita, not Denji. She has becomes so filled with the idea of what she thought Pochita was that she never truly understood him.
Showing Makima getting brutally cut up and cooked up would visually go against the reason Denji is cannibalizing her. He sees this as an act of genuine affection he had for her, as sick as that is. I also feel like the calm and subtle way it’s revealed that Denji is eating her makes it that much more impactful when you realize “oh, he’s eating her”. Your brain then goes to “oh damn that means he cut her up, probably had to skin her, remove her organs” like intense shit like that. Which obviously Fujimoto couldn’t show in a shonen jump magazine. I think not showing Makima’s death in a brutal way forces you to really think about the entire process of what happened. It’s a less is more type situation
Makima also went out in the worst way possible. She did NOT want Denji to be Chainsaw Man. She was a true fan of Pochita and thought being eaten by him would be her honor. Denji, by eating her, is defying her wishes of being eaten by the real Chainsaw Man. She lost and got eaten someone that wasn’t even the real Chainsaw Man
@@VampKhai Makima isnt getting what she wanted tho, Nayuta is. Plus, Makima doesn’t consider Denji to be Chainsaw Man in the slightest, just some trash that got in the way of her and Pochita
@@dorianTFF well denji and chainsaw man are one to one their flesh bonded and share desires getting eaten by denji is inadvertently letting her be with her idol, and denji’s plan only worked because he helped the Control devil with her goal (much like denji and pochita) who is nayuta and makima
@ Makima still doesn’t get what she wanted in the end though. She wanted to be eaten by Pochita, not Denji. You can’t even say on a technicality she got eaten by CSM because if she was, her name would’ve been erased because of Pochita’s powers. Everyone still remembers who Makima was and what the control devil is. Makima was killed, cut up, eaten, and shit out by Denji and Denji only
Since this video is the end of part 1, I'll go ahead and make an analysis comment on Makimas' character. This'll be divided into 2 parts, and i recommend you to read all of it to understand. To start, Makima enjoys anything related to equal relationships. The reason she cried during the movie Date with Denji is because the movie they were watching showed two people hugging each other (It's a relationship that she can never have for herself, considering that her nature as the Control Devil is to manipulate, govern and control others while seeing them as tools). On a side note, for some readers, they think of Makima as a devil who never cared for humans or the world in any shape or form. But, that is far from the truth. As surprising as this might sound, while Makima is a cruel, manipulative, and heartless devil (+ orchestrated everything in part 1), she still does have an immense love towards humanity, albeit it's a twisted kind of love. (Her love towards them is initially pure, but due to her nature as the Control Devil, she'll instead love humanity, "in the same way that humans like dogs" \[She says this in chapter 89\].) Also, Kishibe, in chapter 34, states that "Devils with humanlike appearances tend to be friendly to humans." The fact that Makimas devil form is *fully* human in appearance says enough about how much she loves humans (But again, it's twisted, because of her nature). Her whole goal at the end of the day - her dream - was to save humanity from itself. The suffering and anguish they'd inflict on themselves was rather unnecessary to her eyes, and so that's why she wished to use Pochitas' concept-erasure ability to erase all the bad concepts from existence - leaving only the good. In chapter 75, the president of America, when talking about Makimas dream, says that "the worst possible peace will descend upon humanity", which is super accurate because If all the bad never existed, then we wouldn't have anything to contrast with the good. Everything would lack depth, and our appreciation for the positive aspects of life would diminish. The struggles and challenges we face make the moments of joy and triumph all the more meaningful. They shape our experiences and teach us valuable lessons about resilience, empathy, and growth. That's also one of the reasons why Pochita/Denji, in chapter 93, asked the important question of if Makima would erase all the bad movies as well, and she ofcourse answered yes. Denji didn't appreciate this answer since the last movie that they had watched was only as impactful as it was since they had watched horrible movies prior. There's also the fact that the movie that Makima loved about Equal-relationships was not fully appreciated by any humans. This is why there were *no* humans on site while Denji and Makima were watching the last movie. There're likely two conclusions that can be taken away from this: Humans do not highly value equal-relationships just as much as Makima, and that the concepts Makima disregards and wishes to erase are, in fact, essential to humanity. This is somewhat unrelated, but the manga also emphasizes how she embodies "necessary evil," which we can see in her goal due to her choosing the lesser evil of harming Denji and other humans so that a larger percentage of humans can live a life of 'bliss' in another existence (they'll live a life of what she considers to be a life of bliss). This goal of Makima’s is not only beneficial for humanity in her eyes, but for herself as well, since she would finally see herself as equal to humans, which is one of the things she's always wanted as the Control Devil. Btw, you might ask yourself, wasn't Makima afraid of being eaten by Pochita and losing? The answer is no. Partly because she understands that Pochita doesn't want to erase the concept of control, as it's pivotal to hold the very fabric of reality together. However, being eaten and erased would also fulfill one of her dreams: Being consumed means that the concept of control would cease to exist. By sacrificing herself in this manner, she'd create a world where everyone is equal - where there are no longer masters nor slaves. No more tyrants wielding power, no more wars, no more oppressed masses living in fear. The rich and the poor, the powerful and the powerless, would all share the same fate, united in their equality. Yet, in idealizing a reality without control, she overlooked a fundamental truth: the world can not function without it. Animals, plants, humans - all rely on control to exist. Besides the potential collapse of the universe due to the absence of control, society would descend into disorder. Only true chaos and anarchy would remain. (It's also ironic how she admired Pochita due to how chaotic he was in her perspective. Chaos being the opposite of control). This is why Denji had to be the one to consume Makima out of love, instead of Pochita. In Denji's act of consuming Makima, there's a powerful metaphor at play as well. It represents his acceptance of responsibility, the acknowledgment that control, in its various forms, is an essential force in maintaining equilibrium in the world. Denji, comes to basically understand that control isn't inherently good or evil; rather, it's the wielder's intent that defines its nature. Anyway, by consuming Makima, Denji embraces the control. It's not just about domination or suppression but also about stewardship and guidance. That's why Denji's consumption of Makima serves as an important moment of growth and enlightenment (This is also one reason why, in part 2, he strives to avoid the "ignorance is bliss" mindset, althought maintaining this resolve proves challenging, which is undertandable). It's a testament to the inherent struggle between freedom and restraint, power, and responsibility. It's not about eradicating control altogether but rather about finding the delicate harmony between authority and liberty, ensuring that neither dominates at the expense of the other (Nayuta represents this quite well). [1/2]
Oh, I forgot to mention two more things: Some people will question how she'll ever acquire an equal relation after subduing Pochita and basically becoming a dictator/god by having full control over reality itself. Well, that's the thing. She won't. She never will. Makima's desire for an "equal relationship" is complex and somewhat contradictory. As the Control Devil, she inherently seeks to dominate and control others. However, this control isolates her, preventing her from forming genuine connections (This is also why she resorted to controlling Aki, The Hybrid, etc, into loving her even though she doesn't have to). By creating a world where she has absolute control, Makima believes she can achieve a sense of companionship and understanding on *her terms*. In her twisted logic, achieving control over everyone and everything allows her to set the stage for what *she* views as "equal" relationships, where her power ensures stability and harmony, even if it comes at the cost of free will. (The second best option is to erase herself, the embodiment of control, but neither relationships nor reality can exist without control). So basically, Makima's idea of equality is shaped by her nature and abilities as the Control Devil. She sees it as a way to bridge the gap between her and others, eliminating the chaos and unpredictability of free will, which she believes prevents true equality and mutual respect. It's a somewhat deeply flawed and tragic perspective, but it accurately shows the complexity of her character. (CHAINSAW MAN PART 2 SPOILERS): Now, If we compare Makima to Nayuta (A Part 2 Character), it offers an interesting perspective on the evolution of the Control Devil (Nature vs. Nurture). Nayuta, as a child, represents a chance for a different path. While she still possesses the inherent abilities and tendencies of the Control Devil, her upbringing and the influence of those around her for around 2 years, particularly Denji, provide hope for a more balanced and less tyrannical manifestation of control. This is why Chapters 153, 154, and 155 from the Church arc are so significant (I recommend rereading them to refresh your memory). These chapters show that Nayuta genuinely cares for Denji, and has managed to understand and even form an equal relationship with him, which is something that should 'almost' be impossible for the Control Devil. To do this, Nayuta sacrificed her goals of controlling Pochita to gain a better understanding of herself. However, Denji gave her the answer she was looking for: She is a family (It makes more sense if you read those three chapters i mentioned above). This is why Nayutas death is such a big deal, because it confirms that Nayuta and Denji had an actual equal relationship since his devastating emotions manage to break the contract between Pochita/Denji, unlike when Makima died. (Bonus: Denji didn't want to accept this reality and confirm her obvious death after he had been in a coma for a week, which is why he desperately sought to distract himself by pursuing superficial pleasures [Not bcs he'd purely enjoy it, but instead due to escapism]. His internal struggle reflects the depth of his connection with Nayuta; the thought of her loss was too painful to confront). Anyway, Nayuta's character development is crucial in understanding the potential for redemption and change within the Control Devil. Unlike Makima, who who has lived through countless realities [Chapter 84] and operates largely in isolation and manipulation, Nayuta is being raised in an environment where she can experience genuine care and relationships. This nurturing environment allowed Nayuta to develop a more empathetic understanding of control, potentially using her powers in a way that fosters true equality and mutual respect, rather than enforced subjugation and absolute domination (This is the only thing Makima has known throughout her very very long life). I could discuss how these two characters perfectly reflect Country Mouse vs City Mouse (which is hinted at too if you observe the image above), the society, and human tendencies regarding control, but that's a much longer conversation.
i think it was a perfect ending. denji didnt have to show makimas body visually being sliced up bit by bit because he says it's an act of love. showing that would be viewed as malicious intent to the reader, whereas when you see the normal "food" it looks as if thats what we are meant to perceive; that makima to denji is just another meal to him which goes back to his relationship with food in general. eating makima was the highest quality of food he has ever eaten just like she is denji's biggest want up to this point. as far as the fights between the weapons and makima, most of the chapter was majority brawling them which is alot for one chapter. also remember, pochita just fought them a few chapters ago so there wasn't a need to make it as grand as that otherwise it would be a bit repetitive. the main focus was supposed to be makima vs denji and his denji (csm) clone. the weapons at that moment were just an extension of her, whereas before pochita only fought the weapons and not once did denji truly get to fight makima. reze was not mentioned because 1) that was pochita who saw/fought her early on and 2) she was an enemy and the denji clone was likely not as consciously aware as the real denji or he got over her and viewed her as just another enemy which is implied since reze never comes back to the cafe so what else can denji do at that point
My favourite thing about the ending is denji eating makima instead of the chainsaw man cause if he did she'd have been forgotten forever but he didn't really want that to happen
If it makes you feel any better Wellz, Makima died at the hands of the "garbage" that was not even worth noticing (she never ever "saw" him as Denji explained at the end), not only that, said "garbage" understood her idol/celebrity crush Chainsaw Man/Pochita in a way that she never could and Pochita chose him and not her. Denji "the worthless dog" also ruined her plans of total control and her dream of having a family (in the messed up way she wanted at least). So think about it this way: You think someone is the lowest of the low, worthless trash, then he "steals" (was never yours) your celebrity crush, ruins you carreer, destroy your dreams, and you don't even get the satisfaction of being petty like "at least after what I did, he is gonna hate me for his whole life" cause Denji is like "nah, I still like you, and I didn't even lost "you" because I'll raise your 2.0, so it's all good". She did not take a single W from my guy Denji, the ultimate L.
@@VampKhaiyeah well that's not a bad thing tho, nayuta and makima r still different beings, it's like raising the daughter of your toxic ex, but the daughter is still a different person so they don't deserve toxicity, u wanna make them what their mother couldn't be
@@Couldbebetter100 yeah kinda weird how makima and denji kinda wanted the same thing but both lacked the emotionally intelligence to even understand that both ignorant in their own ways
Just so you know, because I don't think part 1 really elaborates on this as it's more of a throwaway line from Makima during her fight with Pochita,( so this isn't a spoiler) but she is one of the Four Horsemen of The Apocalypse . Keep this in mind when you read Part 2.
I’m a big fan of Chainsaw Man and I actually get where you’re coming from with feeling it was a bit too fast. When I originally read Part 1 a few years ago, I also kinda felt like it ended way too quickly, and ended up giving it like an 8/10 overall. It was only after I reread it a few times, watched a couple analysis videos, and saw a lot of the foreshadowing and character work that Fujimoto was doing that I ended up massively falling in love with it. Everything kinda just clicked perfectly after a while.
Denji's feelings for Makima and her feelings for Chainsaw Man share many similarities; they both literally place their idols on a pedestal, and their feelings for their objects of affection resemble worship more than love.
When you think of Denji eating Makima as an act of love, keep in mind that the author once said that when he was young his pet fish died. He bury it in a park but he saw some ants trying to eat it and got so sad that he decided to eat it, raw and out of the dirt. He then got sick and lied to his girlfriend about it. Eating someone so you can become one with them it's on point from this guy
⚠️IMPORTANT⚠️: I'll try to summarize Makima's plan here in 2 comments, and everything will make sense afterwards. I'll show how she directly and indirectly orchestrated it all - starting with the Eternity Devil arc. [Eternity Devil arc]: There's a very high likelihood that Makima planted the Eternity Devil in the hotel and had it eat the Gun Devil flesh to empower it. Here are some hints that Makima controlled the Eternity Devil: The devil instantly knew who Denji was (his name too) and it knew that he had Pochita as his heart, without even hearing him transform either. Anyway, Makimas' goal here was to presumably enclose everyone together with Denji. This fabricated environment forces Denji to create stronger bonds with everyone, especially with Aki and Power, by confining them. (If you forgot, Makima wants to de-humanize Denji by having them form a strong bond so that she can later take it all away from him, breaking the contract between him and Pochita). [Katana man arc]: (She staged this whole arc by distributing guns to Akane and the Yakuza). Here's a more in-depth explanation: To understand this arc better, it's worth remembering what was said in chapter 73. Makima explains that different countries all around the world own pieces of the Gun Devil and they're trying to gather more gun pieces than the other countries (it's basically like an arms race). We also know that the government distribute guns by selling them, with the sole intention of increasing fear of guns. The increase in fear will ultimately increase the power of the Gun Devil. Then, the nation in possession of more of the Gun Devils body will have the upper hand against other nations. So, what Makima does in this arc is distribute guns to Akane Sawatari (this is stated in chapter 33, page 19), and she, of course, didn't let Akane keep the memories of her providing the guns to them (by using the control ability ofc). There's also the fact that Makima made Akane surgically implant the Katana Devil into the Katana mans chest [chapter 36], and he was specifically chosen because he already has a rough past with Denji. (I doubt Makima needed to control Katana Man since she already has Akane Sawatari doing the job for her and had him on a 'leash'). Them being her pawns are also one of the reasons why she didn't kill them with the Shrine Ritual ability. Anyway, the attack on public safety began with Makima being shot first (This was used as her alibi, with Tendo, Kusore, and other bystanders as her witnesses when talking with Kishibe in chapter 32). All of this creates a Win-Win-Win situation: 1. she used the Gun devil more as a distraction, but doing this in turn increases the power of all the Gun pieces. (The stronger those gun pieces are, the more destruction they can cause when they make a contract with the Gun devil. It's just like what America did to Japan). 2. Makima creates a power vacuum in the public safety divisions. Now that the majority of humans are dead, all that's left is for her to do is take command over all the remaining divisions (This is perfectly explained in Chapter 28, pages 15 and 16). I'd imagine that this gives Makima more flexibility since she now commands over all the fiends and devils in all of the divisions, without any pesky humans suspecting her too much. She somewhat has no need for the devils/fiends (except for Spider Devil, Angel, and Beam. Beam, for example, is used to keep Denji under constant surveillance throughout the Bomb arc, and it's the reason he came in clutch and saved Denji from Reze before she transformed in chapter 44), but this outcome makes it easier to move all of the chess pieces without there being anyone eyeing her down (Kishibe basically). Blending into human society has a lot of benefits as a devil, so retaining it while progressing her goals is a priority. 3. Makimas' ultimate goal is to break Denjis contract with Pochita (the contract wants Denji to live out his dreams and be as happy/motivated as possible while chasing those dreams). From chapter 1 to the Katana man arc, Denji has formed various relationships, and he has gotten to know many different individuals. Now, the attack, orchestrated by Makima, carried out by Akane Sawatari and Katana Man, would undoubtedly result in numerous casualties. One of the major casualties was Himeno, and the other devil hunters he ate food with at the restaurant. While their deaths wouldn't completely shatter Denji's mental state, it would certainly leave significant cracks, as evidenced in Chapter 29, page 10. Makima's strategy seems to be gradually softening him, especially considering his previously 'hard' personality, where he remained indifferent to human casualties. After the mission, Snake devil killed Akane Sawatari in chapter 38 (Makima most certainly controlled Akane Sawatari to automatically be killed by the Snake Devil at the end of the mission. She gave the excuse that Akane died due to the contract she made with the Gun Devil, which is a straight-up lie since the gun Devil was already dead, xd.) Btw, this doesn't stop Makima from, ofcourse, retrieving Akane Sawatris's body and Katana Man since the two can still be of value to her. This is what happens in the Gun Devil arc, where Makima controls Akane Sawataris body to gain access to Snake devil who was used to end Gun devils life. (Happens in Chapter 76, page 11). She also utilizes Katana man, including the other Weapon Hybrids, in the Control Devil arc. [Bomb girl arc]: Makima could have stopped and eliminated the Russian assassin, Reze, much MUCH earlier in the story since she heard *everything*. (Makima confirms this at the end of the arc in chapter 52, when she says, "I like the Country Mouse too," meaning that she heard Reze and Denji talk about the country mouse and the city mouse, all the way back in chapter 42, while they were at the school). If she had killed Reze, it would have prevent massacres, and the damage the hurricane Devil caused, but she instead let it all transpire bcs she wanted to take advantage of Reze status as a Spy sent by USSR (which I'll talk more about in the next arc). Makima also didn't kill her because Denji was getting more and more attached to Reze, which gave Makima the opportunity to cause even more suffering to Denji, which would loosen the contract between Pochita and Denji. After Makima killed Reze at the end of the arc, she had Power visit the cafeteria, so that she'd cheer him up. [1/2]
[2/2] [Assassination arc]: Apart from some specific events like when Santa sent everyone to hell, Makima essentially created this arc since she published information internationally about Denji. (She could confidently do this without others suspecting her, because she blamed it on Reze to cover herself up). She essentially used Denji to bait out the assassins all around the world, (especially Quanxi due to Makima collecting hybrids like Pokémon), since they had the intention of retrieving Denji and stopping Makima from acquiring Pochita. However, Makimas' main intention of publishing Information on Denji/Chainsaw Man was so that she could later on turn him into a world-renowned heroic figure, which would weaken Pochita. This meant that she could have an easier time of succeeding in controlling Pochita after she broke the contract between them. (This is exactly what happens in the Control Devil arc, as she made the whole world idiolize him). Also, yes, it would seem that she was still keeping everyone in the planet under surveillance during this arc as well. (Evident by Kishibes' words ["Makima is listening], Santa Clause who was all the way in Germany in chapter 64, Makima knowing exactly where Tendo and Kurose where burried implying that she heard them being killed, and also when Makima mimicked the exact words said by Pingsti in chapter 60: ["A Corpse Is Talking"]). [Gun Devil arc]: It begins with Makima, in Chapter 73, revealing the Gun Devil’s status to the team. Then, in Chapter 74, she uses the controlled Angel Devil to lure Aki to the beach, setting the stage for the upcoming events and arc. After Makima succeeded in manipulating every country in the world and had them accept their fate [chaoter 74], she pressured the American president to play his final cards against her. He resorted to deploying the Gun Devil to nuke Japan as a last-ditch effort to stop her, even though it would achieve nothing but causing thousands of casualties. After succeeding in forcing a country to deploy their Gun Devil, Makima defeated it and had the Gun Devil specifically possess Aki's corpse, turning him into what he despised most - a Gun Fiend. (It’s also implied that she created several other fiends throughout Part 1, like the Violence Fiend, though I won’t delve into that here). Now that Denji, Aki, and Power have formed an inseparable family, due to Makima forcing them to live under the same roof, she decided that it was time to send the Gun Fiend, to battle Denji. Him being put in this situation, forced him to regretfully murder his own brother because he worried that Aki would kill even more innocents if he wasn't stopped. (The human eye-witnesses that survived would then spread the news to the word about how he killed the gun fiend as shown in chapter 89, making him more popular). Makima basically made Denji feel so much guilt to the point he blamed himself for what happened. His psyche then began to crumble, and his will to live and to continue on dreaming dwindled. Then the contract between him and Pochita started to weaken drastically). [Control Devil arc]: There's too much to cover in this arc, but in short, Makima made the exhausted and depressed denji come to her mansion, where she'd first make him happier by using her 7 huskies, and then she'd also grant him his wish for defeating the Gun 'devil'. Ofcourse, after everything he's been through, he chose to become her 'dog.' This was the only right answer for him, not only because Makima is the kindest person from his POV who gave him literally everything, but also because he doesn't want to think about anything related to his painful life and would rather remain blissfuly ignorant (explained more in detail in chapter 80-81). Denji still had Power left who he dearly cared for and was his last reason for living (especially now when Makima de-huminized him and took away his job, money, access to food, comfort, etc). Makima then had to ofcourse kill her ["Bang!"], and she made it so that Denji would indirectly assist her in killing Power by forcing him to "open the door." She then afterward rubs the salt in the wound by laughing right in his face and reminding him that he killed his own abusive and alcoholic father, which made him feel even more guilt. She, on top of that, ensured to tell him that any happiness or normality he experiences from that point on, she'll be the one to create it all and destroy it all. If he overcomes his grief and makes friends, she'll kill them immediately. If he gets married and starts a family, she won't allow his wife and children to live long. Fast forward, the contract between Denji and Pochita is broken. All that was left for her to do now was defeat Pochita to control him. Just a reminder that she never had to entirely go all out when fighting Pochita and resorted to using Hybrids, mostly because it resembled the fight they had in hell a long time ago, and because Makima now already had set up a contingency plan a few arcs before this, which involved making Chainsaw Man as famous as possible so that he's feared less, which would in turn weaken him. I explained this before, but she'd accomplish this by having everyone believe that Chainsaw man was the one who defeated the Gun Devil, etc. Fast forward again, she fights weakened "Pochita", and defeats him, which finally convinced her that she's superior to her 'hero'. Seconds before she controls him, the real Denji appears from the pile of corpses and then subdues her. (She never noticed him because all the Four horsemen can't remember the faces of Devils/Humans, which is why they rely on their strong sense of smell to distinguish between individuals. BUT, since Makima never bothered to remember his smell, Denji practically became invisible to her. He was nobody to her, but a simple tool. There're more details regarding this. But I'll exclude them for simplicity's sake). But yeah, I think that's everything for the summary of her plan, without going too much into details about the foreshadowing, some scenes having more than 1 meaning behind them, and so on.
I loved part one and this ending. The first time reading it a lot of people give it 7-8/10, but after you reread or smth you can see the masterful character work and subtle details that make CSM part one a 10/10 for me
I’m going to go back at some point and reread all of it in its entirety because I agree that it feels like something is missing in part 2. Could just be the irregular release schedule that’s taking me out of it. I love the themes that it’s touching on but after the Falling Devil I’ve felt it’s kind of dragged
@@JJanes-u6g it’s certainly missing the emotional aspect of Denji’s found family with Power and Aki, but that really only spanned the last 30ish chapters of Part One. Part Two has a much different focus, but I’m not sure if Fujimoto bit off a little more than he could chew by focusing on both Denji and Asa. By focusing on one, the other gets left behind/ignored. It’s tough, but I’m wondering if Part Two is gonna be like 200 chapters long. Maybe the best is yet to come 🤷♂️
I also felt that it was rushed when it dropped because I expected the “everyone vs freeza” type of fight, but on a re-read it feels like fujimoto was going for a subversion of the big boss fight. We already seen pochita mop up makima and loose due to her plan of weakening him and her immortality. So his plan took into consideration that a drawn out fight would cause more Japanese people to die every time she’s attacked and the fact that brute force wouldn’t work on her. It feels like he accounted for everything and that’s why it’s structured the way it is. Hopefully you can go back later down the line and re-experience the fight under a different lens
Im sure some comments already ran over these but ill drop a couple. Denji has always had an issue with caring for people around him dying, so Reze was just another short term "friendship". Noone besides the readers benefit from a long drawn Makima death, Makima wouldnt care, Denji wouldnt want it and all the nameless JP citizen deaths. Not to mention the full colour panel of meat cuts with context is kinda WILD. The Black chainsawman + Power vs Makima fight was the real finale action segment.
I didn't have any problem with the ending - no need for some long epic shonen fight , also not a Makima hater . I'm also not having any issues with part 2 like some people do ... Chainsaw Man is probably one of my favorite mangas out there (though I've only read somewhere around 20 mangas 😅 )
W Video, thanks for uploading the whole finale instead of chapters. Also, i agree with you about the ending. I thought Makima deserved to die after all the stuff she had done to Denji and people around him. but I am still weirded out that Fujimoto the Author bringing back Control devil(a coping mechanism for Makima fans) Nayuta. I think it would be better off they didn't bring control devil back so soon
Some of yall in the comments are out of hand. he said he still liked the ending. plus this is literally his first read through y'all are acting like you noticed every little detail on your first read. give him time to re read/watch the anime without people in his ear telling him whats going on all the time because half the time yall are wrong too. plus he stil has part 2 to read yall needa just chill out
He could skip it honestly it’s a bit too much and the pay off is worth it but idk he could read goodby Eri or something, i don’t think he’d care for It
The chainsaw he used to slice her up was made with the last of Power’s blood that she gave to Denji in the dumpster scene. That blood kept doing damage to Makima so she couldn’t regenerate
@@griffithonyt Makes a lot more sense now thank you. However one last question, was Power's blood on the Chainsaw or was the entire thing made of her blood and worked as a CS?
@@giglomesh123 the entire thing was made of her blood. If you look closely at it her horns are on the base of the chainsaw. Her blood kept him alive while Pochita was fighting Makima at the end and then was used to deliver the final blow. She was the MVP of the fight
No he's not. Denji is not going to turn into a standard shounen hero. He's pretty...he's himself. P2 is pretty different then P1. It's longer then P1 and there's no real end in sight.
See I'm open to opinions, so i wanna know what ratings would u give to part 1 and part 2 separately, i also like part 1 much better, but part 2 isn't "ASS" by any means, in fact I would say that the character writing is better in part 2(minus character conclusions coz part 2 ain't finished yet)
@@Couldbebetter100 part 2 may have gotten better, i dropped it early, like around the aquarium chapter bc the tonal shift was too jarring. I don't rate part 1 like its a legendary manga but its at least more entertaining. I think pt2 is a love or hate thing, less focus on Denji early on was already a red flag, Asa is boring af, too many unresolved plotpoints from part 1 and they just ride the coattails of pt1 by making characters too similar to pt 1 characters.
Happy New Years!
Same, starting off strong.
So she got probably spawn killed
happy new years, regtgarding your ending feeling about makima, nayuta isnt makima, she is the new reincarnation of the control devil. aditionally, being beaten by DENJI and NOT chainsawman is liek the worst thing that can happen to her
i personally like how makima died, you gotta remember that whenever a devil dies, it gets reincarnated in hell first before getting reincarnated again (in this case, nayuta) and makima getting reincarnated back on earth so soon basically means that she got jumped in hell lol
does that mean she died in hell?
@@hatty101 basically
Darkness Devil spawn camped her
The control devil is "weak"
Also she didn’t get eaten my chainsaw man, denji ate her
"Chainsaw man does not spit, wear clothes, nor talk"
Makima projected her desires and assumptions onto chainsaw man without truly understanding him, just like Denji did to Makima. They don't understand anything about someone or something they wanted the most. Ignorance ain't no bliss
Parasocial relationship is bad
VAMVAGAAAH
Pochita ran through the weapon devils the first time easily. He's very powerful even in a weakened state, it makes sense that the second fight with the weapon devils did not last long.
Torturing makima is not a good idea, every attack on her results in a random citizen's death. They needed to end her asap. Makima wished for chainsaw man to eat her, so having denji eat her instead is already the ultimate disrespect.
And makima is not that bad.
she was too arrogant for her own good
@@tee-p6fwell she's a devil.
Perfect comment
Valid comment, but he was mostly talking about the narrative pacing.
@HelterCas Bro felt personally attacked 😭
Makima got sniped the moment she came back to hell. The darkness devil had been waiting for that get back 😂
did she got kiilled in hell and after her death in hell she re-incrainted to earth as natyha?

Loll Makima was just the tier 3 sub discord mod, talking about "I wanna get eaten by chainsaw man" all along
She movin like a csm barb fr😂
She lost and got eaten someone that wasn’t even the real Chainsaw Man
@@dorianTFFyeah but she also got what she wanted by being forever with chainsaw man and denji giving her a family
[1/2]
Oh, I forgot to mention two more things:
Some people will question how she'll ever acquire an equal relation after subduing Pochita and basically becoming a dictator/god by having full control over reality itself.
(CHAINSAW MAN PART 2 SPOILERS):
Now, If we compare Makima to Nayuta (A Part 2 Character), it offers an interesting perspective on the evolution of the Control Devil (Nature vs.
My favourite thing about the ending is denji eating makima instead of the chainsaw man cause if he did she'd have been forgotten forever but he didn't really want that to happen
idk if denji chainsawman has that ability
@drewferguson4787 human or devil? Devil csm definitely has it and human denji doesn't
I never realize till now how funny her defeat is in her pov lol
Yeah but I think the ending is pretty sweet with them actually forming a real relationship and family
@@VampKhaiyeah well that's not a bad thing tho, nayuta and makima r still different beings, it's like raising the daughter of your toxic ex, but the daughter is still a different person so they don't deserve toxicity, u wanna make them what their mother couldn't be

Just in time for my lunch thank you for the upload and happy new year!
Just so you know, because I don't think part 1 really elaborates on this as it's more of a throwaway line from Makima during her fight with Pochita,( so this isn't a spoiler) but she is one of the Four Horsemen of The Apocalypse . Keep this in mind when you read Part 2.
Kishibe says she shouldn't have Makima's memories, but Nayuta knows the finger bite, so clearly that's at least partly not true
I mean she’s still the control devil so deep down they’re all connected
I’m a big fan of Chainsaw Man and I actually get where you’re coming from with feeling it was a bit too fast. When I originally read Part 1 a few years ago, I also kinda felt like it ended way too quickly, and ended up giving it like an 8/10 overall. It was only after I reread it a few times, watched a couple analysis videos, and saw a lot of the foreshadowing and character work that Fujimoto was doing that I ended up massively falling in love with it. Everything kinda just clicked perfectly after a while.
Denji's feelings for Makima and her feelings for Chainsaw Man share many similarities; they both literally place their idols on a pedestal, and their feelings for their objects of affection resemble worship more than love.
brooo first 30 chapters of part 2 are soooo peak
When you think of Denji eating Makima as an act of love, keep in mind that the author once said that when he was young his pet fish died. He bury it in a park but he saw some ants trying to eat it and got so sad that he decided to eat it, raw and out of the dirt. He then got sick and lied to his girlfriend about it.
Eating someone so you can become one with them it's on point from this guy

Btw, do you plan on going back to hxh at some point?
Here's a more in-depth explanation:
To understand this arc better, it's worth remembering what was said in chapter 73.
All of this creates a Win-Win-Win situation:
1. she used the Gun devil more as a distraction, but doing this in turn increases the power of all the Gun pieces.
She gave the excuse that Akane died due to the contract she made with the Gun Devil, which is a straight-up lie since the gun Devil was already dead, xd.)
Btw, this doesn't stop Makima from, ofcourse, retrieving Akane Sawatris's body and Katana Man since the two can still be of value to her.
[1/2]
[2/2]
[Assassination arc]: Apart from some specific events like when Santa sent everyone to hell, Makima essentially created this arc since she published information internationally about Denji.
Mkimama showing up to chat ended me HAHAHAHAHAHA
ive read the public safety arc, i would like to watch part 2 with you.
I loved part one and this ending. The first time reading it a lot of people give it 7-8/10, but after you reread or smth you can see the masterful character work and subtle details that make CSM part one a 10/10 for me
I like part 1 so much better than part 2 I miss og CSM so much
I’m going to go back at some point and reread all of it in its entirety because I agree that it feels like something is missing in part 2. Could just be the irregular release schedule that’s taking me out of it.
I love the themes that it’s touching on but after the Falling Devil I’ve felt it’s kind of dragged
@@griffithonyt it’s cause p2 has 0 emotional scenes . And the one or two emotional scenes was RUSHED. P2 doesn’t have same impact like p1
Best New Year's meal ever
Im sure some comments already ran over these but ill drop a couple. Denji has always had an issue with caring for people around him dying, so Reze was just another short term "friendship". Noone besides the readers benefit from a long drawn Makima death, Makima wouldnt care, Denji wouldnt want it and all the nameless JP citizen deaths. Not to mention the full colour panel of meat cuts with context is kinda WILD. The Black chainsawman + Power vs Makima fight was the real finale action segment.
peak is finally here (Nayuta)
Bro just rushing all "without text" pages lol
He loves to skip visual storytelling bruh
17:13 bro red 2 pages on 3 damn seconds 🙄
I didn't have any problem with the ending - no need for some long epic shonen fight , also not a Makima hater . I'm also not having any issues with part 2 like some people do ... Chainsaw Man is probably one of my favorite mangas out there (though I've only read somewhere around 20 mangas 😅 )
If you think he also ate her sussy, yes.
3:28 makima with no chin
Chainsaw man vs the women💀
makima is such a baddie
Glad that trash died
W Video, thanks for uploading the whole finale instead of chapters. Also, i agree with you about the ending. I thought Makima deserved to die after all the stuff she had done to Denji and people around him. but I am still weirded out that Fujimoto the Author bringing back Control devil(a coping mechanism for Makima fans) Nayuta. I think it would be better off they didn't bring control devil back so soon
Some of yall in the comments are out of hand. he said he still liked the ending. plus this is literally his first read through y'all are acting like you noticed every little detail on your first read. give him time to re read/watch the anime without people in his ear telling him whats going on all the time because half the time yall are wrong too. plus he stil has part 2 to read yall needa just chill out
Hopefully fire punch next🙏
He could skip it honestly it’s a bit too much and the pay off is worth it but idk he could read goodby Eri or something, i don’t think he’d care for
It
How did Makima not revive/Heal right after Denji killed her? Only thing i can not understand how they bought time on that one
@ wow did not know she could materialize things to such complexity. She is on of the GOATS
@@giglomesh123she's the best president atleast
No he's not. Denji is not going to turn into a standard shounen hero. He's pretty...he's himself. P2 is pretty different then P1. It's longer then P1 and there's no real end in sight.
nah some of those comments during denji eating maakima are out of pocket
offscreen he butchered her well, happy denji learned to cook
1 sec 0 views bro has fell off
Nayuta 👩
too bad pt 2 is ASS
Not at all
Nope i like part2 more
See I'm open to opinions, so i wanna know what ratings would u give to part 1 and part 2 separately, i also like part 1 much better, but part 2 isn't "ASS" by any means, in fact I would say that the character writing is better in part 2(minus character conclusions coz part 2 ain't finished yet)
