So the door that kyomoto is painting has importance to the story but is also a reference to the door in chainsaw man. The crazed man attacking the art school is based on the kyoto animation arson incident where a man accused the studio of stealing his work and burned the building.
This one shot by Fujimoto is really a masterpiece of a one shot. And the makers of the movie have really done a very good job in animating every scene from the manga. When I first saw it, I was mesmerized by how accurately they have captured the essence of the source material. I think Look Back is a powerful story about regret. We all have regrets in life. And I think everyone has gone through that phase of questioning your life decisions. And constantly wondering if we have done the right things. What look back taught us was that while we may not be able to undo the past or escape the pain of our choices, we can transform those emotions into something meaningful-whether through art, relationships, or self-reflection. It reminds us that regret is a natural part of life, but it doesn’t have to define us.Look Back encourages resilience and the courage to keep creating and living, even when burdened by sorrow.
I saw this in theaters and left with tears flowing down my face. This movie was absolutely beautiful and the fact that it was a one-shot still amazes me.
If possible, I would have liked people to see the Japanese version rather than the English dubbed version, as the Japanese voice actors were talented young actors who are garnering attention in the Japanese film industry, and they were very realistic.
Spidey - the Look Back manga came out after part one of the Chainsaw Man manga ended. Chainsaw Man’s anime adaption began about a year and a half later in 2022.
This one really hit me hard and made me burst into tears in the theater. I believe the experience of being a creator also resonates with many people. The music is awesome as well.
This is the only movie to ever make me ugly cry in a theater so bad I was making sure no one was looking at me, but everyone else was ugly crying from how beautiful this film was
So Tatsuki Fujimoto took like a big break after he was done chainsawman part 1. Part 2 is ongoing as of rn. These are just side project oneshots he did separately. He did Lookback first and then goodbye Eri which both are peak oneshots and I really recommend yall read. Usually one shots are like 70 ish pages but both of these are like volume length.
Y'all's discussion of creative pursuits tells me you'd really enjoy watching Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken. Wonderful 12-episode series about three girls making anime and struggling to create. It's comedy, but really inspirational and educational at the same time. I recommend it to anyone with a creative bone in their body!
oh Suraj you're going to love Goodbye, Eri which is also by fujimoto. there's no anime adaptation but i highly recommend reading the oneshot on your own time :>>>
Suraj - Chainsaw Man’s manga has been divided into two parts. The first eleven volumes comprise part one, which concluded before Fujimoto began work on Look Back. Part 2 has been ongoing for years and is still being published monthly right now.
I had a couple of friends back in middle school where they would come to my house after school and we would just be drawing and conceptualizing our own manga. This movie hit so close to home for me. I feel for both Fujino and Kyomoto. And I was absolutely crushed.
to answer suraj's questions at the beginning; the Look Back oneshot was released during a hiatus after Chainsaw Man part 1 ended. part 2 picked up a year or two later and is currently still ongoing.
The actual meaning of otaku is someone with am obsession with a hobby or subject to the point of detriment of their social life etc... Like Okarun with Alien stuff in DanDaDan for example. Though in this side of the world we use it as "weeb"
This needs to be anime of the year, I don't know how the awards system goes, I don't even know if anime movies get to be anime of the year but this deserves to be.
I think scene that two characters having a fight on what they want to do and both sides have their pros and cons but in the end both sides choose what they want and everything was working out until that axe murder attack.
I didn't know there was a dub for this. When it was released in theaters it was sub only. But the dub was well done. I wasn't planning on watching it again because i5 was depressing lol But this was one of many one shots that Fujimoto created. This was the first to be adapted.
@@felipeaquitral theres a lot of talent in dub that gets dismissed by weebs, and lets be real, you already seen a reaction with a sub, so its good to have someone do a dub
@@subhamdas943what? I mean in reaction videos, it’s harder to keep track with Japanese audio because reactors obviously can’t keep the footage up. It’s hard to sync with full length as well since timestamps are delayed sometimes and I have to rely on listening to find the place. I wasn’t saying watching it in Japanese period was hard.
I saw this a while ago, I actually thought I saw the wrong version because I thought it was too short and remarkable, well it was unremarkable because after the whole Makima and Ice Witch I was accustomed to expect a twist in the middle, I just didn’t think it be so generic. kyomoto was the only character I did like her so knowing her shy introverted self was attacked by a maniac at he collage was the only was emotionally impactful to me and we only saw the version Fujino thought of.

That person was FINALLY brought to justice this year too🙏
RIP all those talented animators

Another good one shot from Fujimoto is Goodbye Eri. That would be another really cool adaptation down the line
This one shot was published on the 2nd anniversary of the KyoAni arson attack, and it's very much Fujimoto's artistic response to that tragedy.
I saw this in theaters and left with tears flowing down my face. This movie was absolutely beautiful and the fact that it was a one-shot still amazes me.
Hopefully this will at least be eligible for one of the Oscar categories. Beautiful and sincere film.
Don't Look Back with anger. Look Back on your memories that made you you and the life that made you
16 minutes in: "This is not what I expected from the Chainsaw Man guy"
21 minutes in: 😢😭
This is what Fujimoto does.

So the "other future" didn't actually happen, it was more like a what if, the panel was going under was just a transition into that "what if" future
A look back at what could've been if you will
And also, in my understanding... The empty 4-panel manga strip *is* what she picked up back there. There was no real "Look Back" 4-panel manga on it.

i got so excited because i thought they were watching it in the original japanese sub... what a bummer

Look Back was published inbetween 2 arcs in CSM, it had a semi-long break between the parts so he as able to do other projects.
Okay wait, Kyomoto's voice actress is REALLY good!!
