Abandoned Catholic Church in South Western Ontario, built in 1905 and left abandoned several years ago.
At some point in time it seems to have been used as a residence or possibly an art community, but I honestly have no idea!
In 2007 it was given heritage designation for just about every element and aspect of the structure, this means that any future buyer or developer cannot alter anything, the building must remain as it is.
    See my photo gallery here
    freaktography.com/forgotten-abandoned-roman-catholic-church/
Online data shows that it was sold with conditions in April 2021 for just under $1,000,000 but as of recent photos I have seen from others, nothing inside or outside has changed - not even the way to get inside!
I have no other information on this one unfortunately
Thanks @RiddimRyder and Zenning With Zay for sharing this one with us.

This church is a master piece. Like many Stoney Pointers we grew up going there. Just to shed a light on why it was abandoned and some small history.
The spire of the church (the top pointy part of the roof) was much larger before but with the age and decay of the church, it was changed to the smaller size to reduce the chance of it causing damage to the town.
About 13 years ago (maybe longer) the church, along with a couple surrounding churches in other towns, were closed due to their decay and upkeep and another church was built to accommodate the 3 parishes.
The church was put up for sale and was bought by a family who said they always wanted to live in a church. They lived there for a few years but determined the upkeep of the landmark was too much (maybe too costly??) and they decided to sell and eventually left the church when no one bought it.
The balcony was the area where the choir would sing along with the most beautiful organ. You can still see the organ on display in the new church in Comber.
On the high holidays, the church would be so full that they needed to have a "live-stream" mass with the overflow of people in the basement.
Although I'm not the most loyal attendee to the new parish anymore, this church was a big part of my childhood and I am still sad about the shut down. If you made it this far in the comments, I hope you enjoyed this tidbit of information.
Thank you for unlocking a piece of my childhood.

Beautiful church. Such a shame it's been left to rot. Seeing all that furniture sure was weird and then the bed. Agreed that someone was living there. It saddens me to see abandoned churches. Thanks Dave and you stay safe now. When will there be another waterfall video?

I grew up going to this church. Even my grandparents got married in it.
It was abandoned along with 3 others; one in St Joachim which is still abandoned, one in Comber which was sold to the Mennonites and this one in Stoney point which was sold for 1$ to someone in toronto, though the taxes were too high for the occupants. (they have since left).

This is the church in my hometown, population 500, maybe 600 now., Stoney Point, Ont. near Windsor Ontario, Canada “The gorgeous blue ceiling” used to have beautiful murals. I remember looking at them when bored with the sermon ;) The windows were all stained glass. The church organ was from the ground floor all the way up to the balcony area. It saddens me to have to look at a You Tube video to visit this church. . Maybe this video will attract an investor with some ideas and resources 🤞🏼

Diggin' the purple carpet! Looks like someone bought the church and started living there, maybe with ideas of remodeling to convert it to a home but never got to it

That is what happened, I went to church here often, we lived down the road, my Mom still lives there. When the amalgamated the churches in the area and built a new church down the road someone bought it with the intend to move his family in.(I guess they had a lot of children) I have no idea why that family abandoned it though, maybe money or it wasn't working? My husband said maybe it was haunted lol

Constructed in 1905 by Quebec Architect and Church Builder Louis Caron (1847-1917), at the cost of 23,000 dollars. The cornerstone was laid and blessed on 23 Oct 1905 by the Bishop Mgr McEvey.

A lot of the beautiful build still remains, but I can see people removed the church pews and were using this as something else besides a church. Same thing has happened in my city. Cathedral churches closed and younger people removed the church pews and turned it into something else. Makes me sad. I wish I could go back in time, and see these churches in their original form as a functioning church.

I grew up in this church, spent hours of my childhood playing in the hall downstairs. My parents were in the choir, I was an alter server. We went to mass here 2-3 times a week. I went to school next door and would alter serve funerals during the day.
It was such a shame they closed this church, but the price tag to fix it up was so high. It was more money wise to close it and the sister parish in st joachim, and build a new church in comber.
The building had been bought by a couple who were living in the church as their home. They packed up and moved in the middle of the night because the church is apparently haunted.
Last I heard, they are getting ready to tear it down.

I think the random staged furniture was left there because after the church closed the space was used briefly as some type of thrift store and the furniture was left behind after it folded...then someone squatted there.

I just have to ask and wonder why when you were touring the basement you didn't go into what was the kitchen area and where the refrigeration units were at time index 12:59? Other than that, a very nice well done and interesting video! When I was a new Christian back in the 1970's it was a vision of mine, to find some abandoned church and turn it into a Christian community according to Acts 4 32-35. Unfortunately it never happened. The closest I ever came was to tour a variety of other intentional communities, the longest of which was a Catholic worker community where I lived for a couple of years.

The City council must all be morons, or satanist to even think about tearing this beautiful place down! With a population of 10 people I still wouldn’t tear it down. Architects in that City needs to be jailed to permit such an atrocity!

A church is a group of believers worshiping the same god. Thankfully. Nobody will be getting cursed. Still hurts to see the old buildings torn down or rotten
Later in the years though they did change the definition to signify the building it self. But I don’t believe it. Ive hiked to a cave with a few scout buddies and had church there. Im sticking to the biblical definition for sure.
