You can change the A-click in the settings to attack the target closest to you cursor rather than your hero. So A-clicking is always the way to go. (given you change you settings)
TL:DR: When it's more important to hit anything at all instead of making sure all the damage is focused on the intended target, melee heroes can benefit from the default setting more, especially for people with less accuracy. For ranged heroes anyway. For melee heroes, I'd recommend staying on the setting which will attack the closest target to the hero. Most melee heroes get some benefit from their auto attacks, like life leech, quest stacks or trait procs. Frostwolf Resilience (Thrall) and Shield Overload (Artanis) come to mind for traits which make hitting that aa more important. If you're not too accurate with those clicks, your hero may try to attack something else, most notably something that isn't within range, losing that damage and potential additional effects entirely. This is probably more meaningful advice for the lower ranks as I assume higher ranking players will be accurate enough with their cursor to make this a non-issue.
@@majdavlk649 Yeah, you too? I have noticed there are inconvenient times during TF that I will be hitting E, most characters' escape ability, or q, and watch it take 3x times before it actually works, and not when I'm being sleeped/silenced/stunned/etc.
4:02 You can change the auto-attack target in the options, it defaults to 'nearest to character' but you can change it to be 'closest to cursor' (Attack Move Target Point, I forgot the exact name of the settings).
I still prefer A for clicking the enemy while stutterstepping. If you missclick, A just fires at a different target. Whatever, right? But a missed right click will run you at the enemy instead of taking the shot. This messes up your rhythm, and might even get you in trouble. A doesn't attack the wrong thing as long as you are actually clicking on the target. Also Bounty Hunter lvl16 is really important for the full trait build. You are looking at doubling the damage your quest provides. If you don't take it, then don't take the quest either.
Great guide! What I like to do as Raynor (is get the talents similar to what you said and bounty hunter at level 16) then stack 3 points of passive, then auto attack, W, D, Auto Attack, Q. You get two procs of the passive and when in late game does heaps of burst damage. If you get dusk wing at level 20, you can also get a third proc quick enough if you time the death of the banshee as well. Purposely killing your banshee at level 20 can provide you great utility and survivability. If you are getting dived on near enemy lines and have already used ur W to escape and E for healing, send ur bansee into enemy forts or spells to get it destroyed so you proc W and E once more, it sounds simple and easy but will save you, trust me!
Nice video , but the "explosive" shot from the trait it is actually every 4th shot , not every 3rd , still a good tutorial and easy to follow nonetheless(especially since I never knew Inspire resets the basic attack cooldown) .Keep up the good work !
@@Mira-rl9qw Now that you said it , I remember that it used to be every 3rd shot indeed , I never play on the test servers myself , only watching youtubers , so you can guess it would be harder to remember such a somewhat important detail , still thanks.
I think the best way to do it is A clicking instead of right clicking, BUT you A click on them like you would with the right click. I come from a RTS back round and I found that if you miss the right click in an intense moment it can be VERY punishing. so the main difference is in the worst case scenario you attack something instead of like at 3:48 you miss a right click and walk up to the target dummy instead. in a fight where you have 100 range in between you and a melee assassin chasing you, and maybe 60 hp that could make all the difference. This might be a small detail, but its the details that make you good.
regarding 3:10, you should mention that there is an option in hots where you automatically target the enemy closest to the point where you landed your "A" keybind, which allows you to reliably use "A" to hit the relevant target
I think you forgot about 3 rather important things: 1) You should always try to keep your banshee between enemies that use dangerous skill shots that can be "blocked" by your banshee (Stitches, Li-Ming...) 2) Unlike other lvl 1 talents, ace in the hole works on abilities. This also means that your q will heal you for more after 16 if used on slowed enemies. 3) If you like to pick that quest on lvl 1, check how many stacks you got after the game ends. Assuming you have 100% uptime on ace in the hole, you need 105 stacks(could be wrong, i'm writing this at 2 am) to get as much damage from AAs as you would with AitH. Are you "good" enough for this talent?
As always: great video. This series is super helpful. 3:55 you can change the settings, so that A will attack the target closest to the cursor instead of closest to the hero. It makes A a lot more reliable.

yeah I actually use A (left mouse click) a lot, sometimes I lose a kill because of it, but it prevents many deaths for me so it's better for my wonky playstyle
@@robinbruce7838 I know you're kind of joking. But I think we're all here to improve, and this is not an advice I would like to give to a beginner. Honestly, even the best players miss 1 click from time to time. If you want to kite backwards, it is pretty difficult with right click, whereas with A, it takes no effort. One example here, from a recent video of Fan kiting backwards: th-cam.com/video/UwJhNsL0v7k/w-d-xo.html Watch his mouse cursor, HE never misses (I do, I'll admit with no shame!). Fan is one of the best for mouse accuracy. I watched his video back in the day to learn how to stutter step, it was top notch for the noob I was! th-cam.com/video/b1R87PbsDlY/w-d-xo.html
I like lvl 1 exterminator talent because its just helps clear camps so fast and even if we lose objective in maps like garden of terror or alterac pass, this talent can melt objective so fast.
In options you can turn on a thing that says attack move attacks enemies close to cursor intead the closest to player, but it has a weird glitch that your hero sometimes stops doing everything instead of attacking.
I've seen Kala talk about this multiple times. If you dominate and chase there is no problem, but if you want to poke and move back then using A is much safer than right click. If you miss with right click you can walk right into enemies to die, so "more reliable" is debatable. And Kala analyses replay where it happens, so it's not just hypothetical.
One time we were enough players to make a custom game and was able to play against my, I'm always playing in storm league. I've played Raynor and he Kelthuzad and he had a hard time against me, cause I'm naturally stutter-stepping and not standing still against skillshot enemies.
@Milad Zavar Well actually if you A on a character, it will attack this character, no matter the setting. So right clicking is basically just the worse version of attack moving, apart from if you actually just want to move somewhere :P
How do you manage stutter stepping from so close when the ennemy tanks or bruisers will be trying to close the gap on you? Imagine a garrosh flipping you or an arthas just lock you down. I get that you can use your Q. But my point is how to deal with enemies trying to close in on you.
Hi, can you please make a video on how to pick/play against Illidan in lower league ranks? I'm in silver 4 and against illidan it's often a lose. He's just stomping the whole team nearly on his own. Also Sonyas seem to be extremely hard to kill because of the selfheal. I mainly play healers (like Anduin, Rehgar and BW), but I feel I can't do much against him :(
It's mostly a matter of how you draft. Against Illidan you want a lot of CC and blinds since he's actually extremely squishy and if blinded he won't heal from his basic attacks. So if you like playing BW, next time you see Illidan, pick BW (or even Uther), they have point and click stuns/silences (polymorph, hammer of justice), and focus on CCing Illidan. Skillshot CCs aren't as good against him because he can easily dodge them with Q or W. Don't waste your CC. As soon as he's in, polymorph, and if your team focuses him, he's most likely dead. Also draft tanks with more stuns and/or blinds (eg. Johanna, Muradin). And also don't forget he evades basic attacks, so don't only draft AA heroes like Greymane, or tracer. In conclusion: Stuns, blinds, and magic.
did you know there's an option to make A target enemies closest to the cursor instead of your hero? I generally leave it off but for heroes who you stutter-step AA heavily with, I find it focuses my output better
Never give em more? I might be a low ranking player, but if I'm in an auto-attack team (happens from time to time we don't have a mage) the team buff just seems so good together with lowered CD on W
Jonatan Moldrup are you confusing lvl16 Give Me More with lvl13 Rallying Cry? I think Rallying Cry is ok, but I usually go Giddy Up because it’s a permanent speed boost plus inspire gives +16% instead of just +10% that rally gives. Lvl 16 Give Me More is trash compared to the other two on that tier

Tira Raymond i think you should be hitting the optimal targets within your range which mean prioritizing hitting carries when they’re in range and hitting tanks when you can only hit tanks.
