Gotta say huge thanks mate. Because of your vids I've been able to get my folks lawn(sir walter) back on track after almost 6 years of complete neglect. Started with maybe 10% coverage of the lawn area at the start of October 2019, I've now got lush healthy coverage of around 75% of the area. One more season and she'll be back on track properly. Couldn't have done it without your advice and enthusiasm.
You’re never going to find a video with no dislikes so there’s really no point on focusing on them. Especially when it’s actually a very good ratio like this video which is currently 43:1. That’s better than most by a good bit.
Thanks for the LawnTipVid! You must have good neighbors who won't trample on the putting green while you are leveling it. It's just that I noticed the rubbish bins at the fence line.
Curious to know why sand is preferred over soil. I need to level a few spots and was under the impression I had to use soil. I'm a rookie though so I'm glad I came across this video before I did it!
Hi boss! Great video! I'm after some guidance if available. I've just had some tiftuf laid 3 weeks ago. Unfortunately the landscapers didn't do a good job levelling and its quite bumpy all over. Being as we're just about a third of the way through autumn would you suggest I hold off until spring, or smash it out and hopefully get some growth before winter? Any help is greatly appreciated! Cheers
All looks great Ben, but I am keen to know (and perhaps you'll tell in a future vid.) how do you first mow after the sand? That is to say, if you use your cylinder mower that sand would destroy the blades and using a rotary mower, well the blades are cheap and easy to replace, but would it vacuum up a lot of the sand? Just wondering for my own future plans.
@@JM-yx1lm That may be the case if your lawn is mown high buddy, but last time I found I vacuumed all of it up with the rotary mower - I mow at 6mm (1/4") - I find the same thing with slow release pelleted fertilisers, I just end up with it all in the catcher. So I now go liquid. I'll just have to put less down and see how well I can work it in..... Next spring.
If you add soil polymers instead of hydroline that would be better because the polymers can stay in soil for years and they can keep moisture. Also, if you add any amino acid which is rich in nitrogen with organic fertiliser will be great combination as well. The amino acids will help to build strong roots system and improve roots ability to take up to nutrients from soil.
I am high as fuck and its 1:58a and i honestly cant think of something more satisfying then a 10mm cut on your grass. Sweet jesus ive watched hours already
Hi Ben My kikuyu grass from seed already grew but it looks 50% kikuyu and 50% paspalum is that normal if you grow grass from seed? Thanks, bro for your help👍👍👍.
the problem of level lawns is that when there's heavy rainfall where the soil can't cope it can cause flood areas, the reason why lawns are sloped away from dwellings is to allow that runoff if there ever is too much of a heavy rainfall, and as you said... you have clay under the sand. Food for thought though
Do you trust the kikuyu seed you can get from bunnings they are Scotts lawn builder. Munns professional. And Hortico. What would you suggest as my front lawn is patchy and back lawn the corners are brown.
Nice work!! Wanted to get tiftuf on my yard too but I tried to look for a tiftuf seed online but no luck. Is this available only in sod? - southern calif
Lawn tips the real lawn youtube GOAT. other youtubers out here mowing zoysia at 4 inches and claiming lawn dominance. the kids up the primary school can maintain zoysia at 4 inches
Folks will OCD over the non level driveway edges for as long as you leave them like that. My take is a sloped green is more of a challenge and more fun, so go for it and also it will remove the edge you're unable to mow, thus save you edging time ;)
What do you think about using a drag mat for levelling purposes? Ones like they use on baseball infields. I have regular access to one of those and not a leveller like yours.
Love your videos Ben and love your channel. A suggestion for something different and interesting to keep it fresh. A MONEY CHALLENGE - approach a random neighbour and offer to reinvent their lawn for day $500-$1000. Show people how it can be done on a budget. I’m sure if you rocked up to my house and offered me a Stella lawn for $500 I would be throwing the cash at you. I think it would make a good vid ?
@@LawnTips nice. I watched your video on the setup. Could you maybe show in one of your next vids how you can have it set up to be able to move it from say your front to backyards to so some hand watering somewhere else etc. If you show us the ease of use I think you might just sell more units. In interested for sure. Sick of using a hortex and I forget to do my ferts regularly.
Damm, I just bought our second hoselink hose plus attachments and a cover for one of them, didn’t know you had a discount code Ben, Love our Hoselink hoses, I’ll have to get that sprinkler just to get a discount Lol, what do you think of their products, I also bought the Fertiliser spray mixer, along with some liquid lawn fertiliser and seaweed stuff.... Yeah but I’m more talking about the maintenance side if things. You should maybe see if there’s enough interest to do a video about keeping a well maintained lawn on a budget as I’m sure most of us can’t afford to buy “top shelf” fertilisers, pesticides and herbicides as frequently. 🤷🏿♀️

No worries man, love that story! Once your happy with it, shoot me some pics. I'd love to share it
Aight it’s 4am and I’m really curious on how I ended up here, good vibes tho
Me to what the hell am I watching I cant lie I like it lol
Awesome job! Again, that “first mow” video is gonna be epic.
That’s a pretty good roll for a front yard green. The lawn is dark, going to look amazing as it fills in.
That's why Rye is so good. 👍 Hope you got some steady, deep watering rains.
Looking Good Ben. Keep up the good videos
Another awesome vid Ben. Will be looking at top dressing my lawns next season.
Been hanging out all week for the update!
Why the dislikes. Probably jealousy, because you have a sik lawn.

Those bins annoy me. Run a strip of the aluminium garden edge and pebbles up there Ben. Even a screen.
Love it Ben. Always super helpful info.
My wife is in charge of maintaining the couch around here.
Would you help if she asked nicely?
It’s come a long way fast. Looking good bro
Yo mate, what up ?! Welcome to another laaawn tip vid! That's how I start my Saturday. Hell yeah!
Love the videos!

It doesnt stay like what you see right now. 1 or 2 waterings and its below the grass.

Does couch need to be cut before applying the top dress?
Hey good vid man keep it up
Hey mate. So you can level/topdress at any time?? Doesn't have to be straight away? Say a few months after you have layed it??
Awesome, thanks for your info and experience.
Hey mate, can you use this sand as underlay?
Hi mate love what you do thanks for the tips! a question for ya how thick to go with top dressing buffalo with sand for levelling

Sprinkler system only in the backyard?
What do you do for the edge that the mower doesn't get to?
Hey is TifTuf Couch the same as TifTuf Bermuda? Also where did you get the sand for the levelling?? Thanks!
Yep, exactly the same 👍🏽
I just got the sand from my local landscape supplier in town

Is there a lot of pasp in your neighbours properties? I cant grow anything evenly with all the weeds that come over the fence, thats my excuse atleast

I’ve got an old video where I first did the levels about 2 years ago. I say exactly that

Folks will OCD over the non level driveway edges for as long as you leave them like that.

Drag mats are great. That's what we used to use on the golf greens. I'd go for it
How did it go with all that heavy rain ?? Assuming you got what just came down from QLD
hi how the rain in the country i live in campbelltown we had about 40 mm rain in the last 3 days

awesome. loved this. - We have snow up here in NY right now. New friend Ruthie
Does your neighbour mind you doing this to their half of the lawn? And putting a golf green on the lawn?
Hey man, how much sand layer could I get away with on my empire zoysia ?
got an update on your brothers lawn?
It's gone off because of the drought and water restrictions. Hopefully we get more rain so I can start shooting vids there again
