Very nice retrofit job. I did the same last year using a Makita 18v battery. Works fine, but since the Makita (and Milwaukee) batteries are only 5 cell 18650s, and the original Dyson pack has 6 cells, you do lose suction power in Turbo mode. But, it’s much nicer to be able to swap out batteries after 15 minutes, and keep going, rather than having to wait for the Dyson battery to recharge. I’m not sure why Dyson hasn’t made one with a replaceable battery.

Good Job, but I would have just bought the superior Makita Vacuum Cleaner.

Fuck yea bud! You read my mind because the M18 vacuum of the same form factor as that Dyson is a loud piece of complete junk. We love our Dyson and I run a ton of M18 tools so this is a no brainer.

@@jamess1787 You don't get it, do you? Practically every modern power tool battery has 3 pins: "+", "-" and a control pin. That third pin is used to control the discharge speed and battery temperature. Without that it's very easy to overheat the battery. Including setting it on fire.

    Cool project.
    But one Question
How long will the switch last with it being rated for 1.5A ?

The motor dictates how much current it will draw not the battery.

Do not keep a battery on that and use a dedicated pack, also I would not store it in my house after using it for a long time
