    I let my boots (Maryam Olive horserump) just ride through the 7 months during the first Thunderdome. I conditioned at the end. I didn't place 😂😂😂. They look amazing though!

    Wear em, condition the inside smooth side and let dry, leather doesn’t know if it’s rough out or not.

    To me it looks like the toe spring is increasing and some boot trees should be used when not on the feet. If the boots start to feel like they are drying out mabye use conditioner or oil on the inside first to see if it will move through the leather. Lastly, take care of the soul like normal. Just my thoughts- I could be wrong.

    Wear them without conditioner but be watchful.
    Then treat the critical spots ( if any ) with Saphir. It would suck if they crack at the vamp.
    Good Luck Winning ❤

    • @nicksboots

      Yes the vamp is my main concern, especially with winter being here and Spokane gets lots of snow. I think this is the approach i will take for a bit, unless things start to get more dire due to snow and salt!

    I have a pair of black wax flesh boots, do you recommend conditioning them with the obinofs grease or oil?

  • @alexduke5402

    Yeah that last pair of work boots look like mine most of the time. I clean them every couple months and oil them but what can you do. Blue collar work is hard on boots. That's why we buy Nick's.

  • @MrStreetninja007

    Having brown waxed In this contest as well I will not be conditioning throughout the entire process Because I feel like if we do we will stand no chance at standing out And I just like the look Better.

    • @nicksboots

      I feel you, the Waxed Flesh feels like an up-hill battle, but that fully roughed up end look is just so sick!

  • @Brajin1

    I would probably go with a less is more approach. I would just brush until you really see the rough out start to come out.

  • @likearc

    The bick 4 will prevent it drying out if you're worried but doesn't change the appearance much because it's not heavy duty

  • @paulpietruszewski4226

    Does it make sense to incorporate a small dab of some conditioner into a horse hair brush so you are getting a light condition while maintaining the patina and the raised portions of the rough out leather? I mean a very small amount and distribute it well through out the bristles so you don’t get clumping in one spot.

    • @nicksboots

      I have done this to the Lace To Toes i showed in the video and it seemed like a great way to keep a bit of hydration in between fully greasing them, especially in winter when the leather could use some more moisture regularly. And on these boots that may be a good way to go, if it doesn't slick the rough out down, the winter just hit in spokane so if it becomes necessary i will do some tests and include in a later video!

    @Vultain 10

    It’s not cheap, I would recommend either Saphir’s Medaille D’or Nubuck and Roughout Spray Conditioner or Tarrago’s equivalent. Tarrago lasts longer but is harder to remove.
    Post conditioning, if you want water or stain resistance you can use Saphir’s Super Invulner(clear resin won’t color change) but Super Invulner wears off faster. Tarrago Nano Protector also won’t alter the color would likely see you through to the end but you will need their cleaner to remove it at a later date. Nano Protector had to have it’s molecular bond broken, so saddle soap will not remove it later on.
    Those would be my two recommendations.

    if you dont condition now you are gonna ruin them. this time of year they need it. i just conditioned my ND3's after a month of wear and after drying there is plenty of teacore left. they almost look the same as before. i feel confident i wont regret conditioning for the competition and i sure as hell wont regret conditioning for the season. get it done now, the sooner you do it the sooner you will realize you've made a good decision 👍

    • @nicksboots

      We do a weekly podcast about that exact type of thing! Along with new releases, general updates and whatever else the owner and production would like to talk about. But this is a series about my boots, i will try to have more information in videos going forwards, but talking about and sharing dilemmas that lots of people who own boots have IS informative. Either way thanks for watching!
