It's absolutely insane how people just make some lucky plays, they work and they think their playing style is ok "because of that play" and not "DESPITE of that play". Just another day in Pokemon Unite
Actually all these submitted ones are kinda the slightly better off ones, except for the last fella.
I spectated a game similar like this and seriously if its that same, this sword user made it up as lightly 'it wasn't his fault' manner.
The whole game he was lacking not only in the initiative but also in all (not 1 or 2) possible chances to farm halved HP enemies for XP, instead he's the classic farmer on creeps only and ignoring all his mates' advances call, thus that ping near the 2 min mark. (aka afraid to die/take the dip all-rounder)
I'd say if Spragels watched the full clip, this fella's idea of playing sword is just to steal kill where possible only.
And to be honest, good ones know when to use their shield mode instead of how this fella did.
In fact, most who takes all-rounders shld have a basic knowledge of when to attack n pull out instead of just be a creep farmer all day long.
This was somewhat similar to bots in Dota 2 doing and that coming from a human player, he shld have gone to play other solo player games instead of teamed ones.

the worst part of the comfey clip is comfey didn't hop off and take regi aggro. This would have allowed Venu to survive much longer and have an easier time of securing + escaping.
And the fact that sweet kiss gives a big shield when reattaching, so even without taking aggro, hopping off, and then back on to give then venu a shield wouldve 100% been the play. Sitting on the venu did absolutely nothing except make the venu die and waste unite
The last clip really represents the struggle of being matched with toxic duo/trios 😅
I know, the guy that wouldn't stop grinding is such an annoying person to play with. Those kinds of people have no teamwork in their heads, I don't blame the squishy trio for just suiciding
@@user-kb8gy9ni5dI was doing my best and I was under leveled most of the game because we spent 6 minutes fighting for bot. it’s a tier 1 goal, let it go. I was trying to be high enough level to do something at the fight, Venu didn’t even have his solar beam upgrade.

@@user-kb8gy9ni5d Levels MATTER a lot. Scyther, Talonflame, Venosaur and Aegislash all should have not been were they where. While farming can be annoying they were already behind, and there were no objectives up. The only one who was in right position was the Umbreon, the other 3 were backcapping while Ray was starting and Aegislash was nowhere to be found. In no situation is 'suiciding' a valid option because you are basically ruining 3 other people's game because you are too petty because 1 person didn't do what you wanted them to do
@@a..675 if you were jungler I hate to say it but it's so important for team morale that you show up to team fights, as long as they're not completely suicidal. Also, if you're one of the only frontline mons, your presence is so important for the squishies to actually get some work done. Something else to keep in mind is when you're in the duo vs the trio, there are so many matches where ppl subconsciously favor only their teammate(s) and the other players in the trio/duo get left high and dry. Of course we can't know what happened or why they got so tilted, but maybe something to reflect on if this applied to your game
The bad positioning from aegislash gives us more the reason to believe the pings made sense, not the extent of it though. Both aegi and the team made bad moves. The team force pushed top ray, engaging one enemy with no info on the rest of the teams positions which throws. The 2v5 could’ve been prevented by simply dashing into the fight through the wall near ray rather than going all the way around
Thank god you can simply mute your teammate's pings by overall blocking/muting them during the match. I've had to do that a few times, especially when the "Thanks" start to pop up...
I only mute when someone isnt speaking my language or at least english
Pinging i don care what infuriating me is when someone isnt rotating down to first botregi and if we lose the fight imidiallly pings go on. Thtas the moment i tilt and grieve and wont do anything for the team anymore

Nah. Some players fully deserve it. Had a charizard that would just dance on our 2nd tier pad cause we lost neutral farm to hoopa with amazing secure. I always say whatever you do, at least do it. If you wanna leave the team at 1st bottom regi for top regi, get it.

I mainly play all-rounders and (as the discord nickname indicates) drain tanks, so I've been kinda just praying I know my lethal ranges well enough to navigate fights but with glass cannons... It's a bit harder to put together 😅

The sword player must've trolled during the whole match for that amount of pings.
I dunno about that. I've had horrible trolls but I've never pinged em like that, nor seen everyone else do it.
Wouldn't doubt the 'slash has a decent amount of fault but there's no reason to ping that like. It's a waste of time and energy, just doing it would have made them play worse than if they ignored em completely.

No matter how bad a player is you should never ping that much. May I remind you that you are playing with 3 other people aswell that will hear then pings too. It's a very easy way to get yourself banned if enough people on the team decide it was annoying.
you would do it if this kind of things happen 10 matches in a row. I have done it when I was fully frustrated with ppl not being at objectives or griefing jungle.
I've had someone ping 'check it out' on me for an entire game because they got KO'd early doing a stupid dive and even though I tried to save them I couldn't work a miracle.

Had the same with a Phox who thought I (Gossifleur, as it was at the match’s beginning) could keep them alive in a 1 v 3, including the enemy jungler. They died instantly, got mad, pinged me the entire game and then refused to leave spawn after letting the other team ko them several times. It was just pathetic.
I used to think “I won’t mute them, they’ll probably calm down and then have useful pings later in the game”. But now I just muted ALL surrender votes, and if someone starts pinging like crazy from dumb early yeet dives, spinning in circles, yeah… now I just mute them right away. It’s been more fun and relaxing!
although that was a ridiculous amount of pings in that last clip... I feel like I can safely assume that they were either late or not around for many team fights, not to mention it doesn't look like they were a very good Aegislash at all
Same, it felt like they got lucky (although they were just buff from farming). It sure seems like to me that the trio was trying to make a play to turn this around by catching their carry before Ray spawned.
yeah, i hate the pings and all but i would be angry at the Aegislash too, and its hard to find a person that would just ping another like that for fun or randomly, it seemed like he just abandoned its team to flank and left them to die, three down, yeah but now there is no team for the Rayquaza.
Nah, a player being bad isn't why you should ping. We're all learning. Toxic players however.
@@sechabatheletsane9784 It's toxic, yeah. Unfortunately, that's the only way to bring attention to bad play in this game. The game doesn't punish it or deter it in any way. So players continue to make bad plays, get lucky at Ray, and think they saved the team and that they would've lost without them. Or worse, they just farm and backcap all game and then end up with MVP in a loss, but to them they did well because they were MVP so it must be everyone else's fault.
I don’t play Aegislash a lot, sorry! (I also play tanks and tend to engage, please don’t make assumptions about how I play things I’m not comfortable with!)
Usually that amount of ping spamming on one person comes from retaliation, that aegislash was probably spamming his own "thanks" and "check it outs" before that clip
Pinging is the only way I have found to disincentive bad plays on real time.

I agree. The only times I've joined in pinging is when the team is trying to shut the toxic player up.
hi I was the Aegislash! I don’t have thanks on my wheel and started ignoring them for a while. I did ping Talon once when I figured they were going to backcap in that clip.
yeah a lot of these feel like it can be boiled down to "just because it worked, doesn't mean it was right"
This series is actually amazing. I hope people learn what not to do from this. I agree with Jake on the Aegislash play. That flank, regardless of what mon you were, was just a bad choice. It worked out in spite of the decision, not because of it, I think. You could have easily joined them, and you didn't really catch anybody with that flank. Also, holy god that ping spam. Yeesh. I've been there.
Can we all have a moment of silence for that Umbreon in the last clip. It had to deal with 3 people backcapping, an Aegislash who wasn't there and an insane amount of pings while just playing the game. They were the only one in the right position for the whole time of Ray.

For fun(i am far from the best player or an expert, and im sure ive mad worse plays plenty of times myself, so once again, this is for fun and to support spragels with an algorithm boost) heres my opinions on the clips:
Sweet kiss comfey - the moveset has its moments, and its not straight throwing to go if your team is on the same board, as part of a duo for example. That being said, if you play sweet kiss, i highly suggest playing around how it works. That venu died for no reason. Sweet kiss attaching gives a bigger shield than attaching with other builds, if youre only providing shielding and not healing, play around that more. To truly play around sweet kiss you cannot just sit on one pokemon without ever detaching and re-attaching, if thats how you want to play comfey you 100% go healing build. Sweet kiss is way more involved.
Cram: as spragels said. Bad use of resources. Pointless flash, not diving(or flashing) over the wall. Unite is ok, you lose last hit potential but youre going for kills instead, i can see the idea as theyre all low and panic was clearly there, no mashing to be seen though, just panicked use of resources.
Cleff-> backcap looked bad and miraidon also threw, question is what lead up to this moment, maybe this was the best remaining possible play, but for me it doesnt look like it was, team is fighting in bottom of pit and you werent with them, which puts them in a bad spot... but also it looks like the gren is trolling in base, so maybe it was just one of "those" games. Hard to truly judge the play with what we see here.
Hoopa- back was not great, but i get it. But even ignoring that, what happened after is what strikes me as bad: You can see your team in a fight, why jump top? Why then path as far away from the team as possible so theres absolutely 0 chance of saving teammates. lucky steal to save the day at least.
Inteleon - liquidation is worse, but its not the problem in this clip. How it was played was. And the reasoning of "it doesnt matter because it worked out" is not what makes a good play. Getting lucky does not mean you played that well, you played that awfully, the dpult played it as bad or worse, you killing him after doesnt change that. A competent dpult wouldve smoked you with the way you played it. Liquidation intelion can play that significantly better and not make it come down to luck like it did here. Boosted wouldve been way better steal secure and liquidation could ko the dpult after everything was on cooldown.
Gengar - nothing good to add myself, spragels said everything that stuck out to me and more.
Aegi - looks like fun tilt shenanigans in trio queue land. Your trio taking that fight without umbreon wasnt great, but your pathing just made the situation worse. But at that point in the game id be tilted out of my mind so i cannot judge all the throwing that ensued.

Pings paradoxically make me ignore my teammates
I liked the last Aegislash play the most, going in with an extra boosted for sacred sword damage I think outweighed the wide guard as it allowed them to kill 3 enemies before they even took any meaningful damage Including a mew and Umbreon. Totally worth.
The flank I give benefit of the doubt since they were probably planning to get at the squishies with the extra boosted.

Could you do a mixed bag of these? Some good plays and some bad plays. Knowing which plays are bad helps but knowing which plays are good helps even more.

I hate that that Draining Kiss Clef won the duel with Miraidon. They should've rightfully died after backcapping for 20(!!!) points and had their ego checked.

hihi! I was the Aegislash. Scrolling through the comments has led me to believe I deserved all the pings/was being toxic. I don’t have thanks on my wheel; but I admit did ping my team a few times (albeit counter pings) because Venu was fighting the opposite objective when my team wanted top (I followed them to give them what they wanted, I suppose) and Talon once in the clip. (figured he was mad enough to backcap) 1. I was charging my unite for the fight 2. I was trying my best, I don’t play Aegislash (I’m working on it!) and 3. I don’t think pings are that annoying. (though I tend to mute them now) I’m mostly a tank player and struggle a bit with positioning of other roles. Thank you for the help, it’s much appreciated!! ♥️ (social anxiety go brr)
you bought the premium skin before having played the character much..?
I’m also a tank main that plays HEAPS of Aegislash. You need to save wide guard for going back into shield forme and CCing the enemies. Do not use it to charge boosteds before entering the fight like you did. Judging by how you play it I think you should try Iron Head with Sacred Sword (my preferred build). You don’t have to manage the cooldowns at all so you can almost freely combo IH > boosted > boosted > SS > boosted > boosted > repeat infinitely.
wide guard needs way more cooldown management and selectively choosing when to change formes, and/or teammates to capitalise on the wide guard CC (which as we know is rare in solo queue)

That last clip, I can see why they “check it out” pinged them like crazy. Bad teammate?? also doesn’t know where to be at crucial moments, bad positioning at Ray. Valid pings. But they could have also muted everyone so there would be no ping spam.

I recently came back to unite after being out for a year, what is the trick to telling if you’re in a bot game now?
I'd still keep sticking to telling if they're bots by 1. they don't play anything past sylveon release (or something like that, just old pokemon) 2. if they have lots of random holowear.
Bots can now have ribbons and they also use other people's usernames. You can't view their profiles at the end of the game but they still play like crap and walk like robots lol. Oh, and also they don't call lanes in selection screen and pick their pokemon very slowly but ready up fast.
I believe they got rid of bot matches in masters but they should still be in lower ranks.

Also, they start moving a second or two after the game says, "go! " And you can always check your profile on uniteapi after the game ends

the biggest tell, imo: as soon as the match starts, theres a slight delay before they start moving, and when they do they all start at the exact same time.

Lol Maroxrant is a so tragic cramorant, the guy in rush panic uses eject button, then wastes some seconds going all the way around while he can dive through the walls, which btw it has 3 dives in store, lol bro negative S tier performance. Jake you are too nice giving him even 4/10, that's straight -1/10, just because the total payoff from the play is negative, since he wasted time, eject button value, and not using unite in team fight.

Yes, you can dive into the wall in that position, if your team is behind and they start to KO rayquaza you can eject button into the wall, you conserve much more time, the play there was correct and lucky with the cramorant because that was the only thing you've could done (even you got ray luckly). When your team is KOed and you are the only one alive you can only steal ray or depending on the scenario KO them (generally never KO ray when you are ahead with the score).
When you playing support (in this case clefable) you want to be always around your allies to help the team most of the time. I think he sent the clip just because hates miraidon on unite simple is that. Flexxing i guess...
Ping people to the entire game is so childish and terrible PLEASE dont do that.
Its understandable considering aegislash was so late in the fight but ping for the entire game is pointless and make people even playing worse 1 time is enogh to do... The major mess there are the choice of the pokemon before the game even start, he is playing scyter while you playing aegislash... why? Both of them want to jungle if you are in a trio pick something else XD they want to win or what? Im so confused.
Spragels gives good advise there i agree with him. Even i think some of these situation the game doesnt do a good job to explain some scenario. There are so much to explain in this game that the only thing the game gives you are the bases...
The guy playing sword at the end fundamentally does not understand how to play sword. You should not be going into shield form to clear camps, and you should not be walking into the Ray pit in sword form. Also, you should be using shield form when available and out of combat to build boosted auto stacks. Absolutely atrocious play from sword, but he luckily was able to clean up.
