Jesus. Heard this song when it was new. Just heard it for the first time in years. I’m about to be 21, been going through a lot lately. Lost a friend to suicide this year. I never really had the chance to be a kid even in my childhood.. this song made me cry. Last time I heard it, he was still alive, I didn’t know my parents were on drugs, and I was just kinda chillin. I miss not having frequent underlying anxiety and sorrow. Hopefully things will get better
When I listen to this song I see a mental montage of myself growing up from baby to young adult. All the times I've felt joy and pain, the friends and family who made me who I am today. Love this song.
Runnin my mouth off at the storm Yelling man, what the hell did you do that for? And I was watching the old men fish, And they'd all give their catch away And I could hear a woman singing And I could hear that piano play It'd go like... Where did you get you bad breath? I want some, oh a drag off your cigarette And I was thinking about a song That I heard when I was young And I was wondering 'bout its trumpeter How he could get those horns to talk Something like.. Tears will gather in my eyes Hold my head, and babe y'know i'll cry And I was thinking bout the places i'd been With you always at my side Like a baby, oh I held my head and cried C'mon Dorothy y'know we could go all night. Hey, it's nighttime and y'know, Its getting cold so babe put on some clothes And lets go hit the town And we could fill a room up with smoke y'know I got the first round As we tell all those stories told And I would pretend you were new Like I was just introduced to you And all the music in my ears Sounds beautiful down here And I could hear that drummer roll As I listened to that choir cry And I could hear that guitar weeping I could feel those pipers pipe And all the beauty I couldn't see Well it just cut me at my knees And I was watching the old men fish And they'd all give their catch away And I could hear a woman singing And I could hear that piano play Tears wills gather in my eye Hold my head oh and babe you know i'll cry Like a baby I held my head and cried C'mon Dorothy y'know we could go all night xx
Saw this man live at electric picnic, Ireland. Unbelievable, blew me away, couldn't stop smiling, pretty sure Kevin and the guitarist saw me smiling and laughed a little. What a performance all round.
At first I thought it was a cover from Jesus and Mary Chain :) Can "see" its not, but this one throws me back to one of my old favorite albums of all times: Darklands,
To any Better Call Saul fans out there - whenever Saul and Kim are quietly sharing a smoke I always think of "I want some, of a drag, of your cigarette" - gives me goosebumps.
Clicked because of the hipster's-feeling thumbnail, decided to stay after the first chords and LOVED every moment of the journey! What a beautiful, cheerful and soulful music! So that is how I found out about Kevin Morby a few months ago (thanks to algorithms) and now I am really a huge fan of him. Thank you, Kevin!
Wow!!! This video made my day. The song is great and I don't remember the last time I had fun watching a music video. Well Done and not too weird either!!!
creo que este cantante no muy famoso aun, fuera de la farándula de la fama que se viven otros, este sera reconocido hasta cuando muera todo el mundo se darán cuenta de quien era y reconocerán su buen talento en la música

Have faith. It will.
blessings 💕
Even if it seems like crap right now, life always gets better, even if you don’t think it will.
Hope you’re doing better now, mate x

Sounds beautiful down here
And I could hear that drummer roll
As I listened to that choir cry
And I could hear that guitar weeping
I could feel those pipers pipe
And all the beauty I couldn't see
Well it just cut me at my knees
And I was watching the old men fish
And they'd all give their catch away
And I could hear a woman singing
And I could hear that piano play
Tears wills gather in my eye
Hold my head oh and babe you know i'll cry

When I heard this on KEXP in Seattle, I thought "Hey!, Jesus and Mary Chain have a new song out"! This is guy is amazing!
This makes me think in Dorothy Day and her cry for a Reckless Way of Love. Beautiful.
Never heard of him. Showed up randomly on my doorstep. Very nice, a bit chatty, likes to play in the yard, enjoys singing.
That scene where he is underwater is one of the most stunning things I'd love to capture

Actually made me tear up. This is brilliant.
Randomly stumbled upon this video and now I’m obsessed. He’s dreamy!
The "Tears will gather in my eyes" part somehow reminds me of "Tears in waves, minds on fire" in Mercury Rev's Opus 40.
Kevin, your music was a huge part of one of the most amazing parts of my life. Thank you so much.
One of the best albums of the year.
this makes me very nostalgic. actually teared up
Thank you Kevin Morby.
Paul Dano @ 4:08
Killer track man. Love the dylanesque vocals and the little interludes
Love his style. On a less important note his last name is a town in India where I have roots. To me this man is truly roots rock.
