CORRECTIONS:
In retrospect I should've phrased the only mario rule as "when you can play as mario, you have to" instead of "always play mario at all times" because as many of you have pointed out, I played the captain toad levels. My bad!
The ground pound jump was actually in the original 3D World, I just misremembered!

Fuzzler actually kinda makes sense as an enemy name. It's a fuzzy, but long and colored like a wiggler, so it's like a fuzzy wiggler

Personally I would only count jumping on a dry bones as an enemy death if they are unable to come back together.
Yeah I think in my actual full run I did do that, I just forgot about it while editing that section

This just got recommended to me, and holy hell this did NOT feel like 44 minutes. Really love the editing pace on this, and the challenge itself must've been a complete nightmare. Very nice job on this!

Reasons I believe this video did so much better than all the others:
1. Better editing and introduction, for people who haven’t played this Mario game .
2. No cursing, more accessible
3. Not interrupting the video for promotion
4. Want to watch to the end to see what happens and it’s rewarding to see the failures (high view retention so more recommendations)

also it's just more interesting than the others, another thing is mario challenge runs or just challenge runs in general are pretty popular
If I had a nickle for every challenge that I saw where Motley Bossblob is extremely difficult, I'd have two nickles, but it is weird that it happened twice.
If anybody wants a more forgiving version of this, try going for 100% with the only rule being one death per character,
Example: if you start the run as Mario and you die, you can't use Mario anymore. And then you have to switch to iether toad, Luigi or peach. You even get a metaphorical extra life with Rosalina in world star.
Edit: I fergot to mention I also banned powerups in my run, although that's up to the player.

I like the concept of Mario, with no powerups or anything, obliterating Bowser (who is using both the cat bell and double cherries) through sheer willpower and botched physics.
I'm sorry, but i can't rest until I've pointed this out: the ground pound jump was in the original 3d world. It originated from that game, in fact! They did change how it controls to match Mario Odyssey in the switch port though.
Oops, that's my bad then. I must've forgotten about that. If I remember correctly the old ground pound jump sucked and barely gave you any height which is probably why I forgot about it haha
I really enjoyed this video! It was really fun to watch, even for someone who has never played Mario 3D World (well technically I played Champions Road with my cousin once, but I'm not counting it for obvious reasons lol)

im gonna try this challenge myself (level by level as well cause i really dont have the patience for restarting every time), i really want to replay this game in a fun and new way and this seems like the perfect way to do so

You know, I can’t help but wonder. This proof of concept shows that beating Bowser is possible. But what if you hated yourself? What if you wanted to take the run to the stars anyways? The rocket’s there, after all. All you have to do is walk up to it and you reach world star. We may not be able to reach Champions Road due to our limitations, but can we reach the border? Can we beat EVERY LEVEL IN THE WHOLE GAME??? (Probably, since we only care about level clears, BUT now boss blitz is added in, which means ANOTHER showdown with Bossblob. So I feel like that’d justify taking the challenge there at least a little)
It would definitely be interesting to push the limits and see just how far you can go!
Run is invalid, captain toad is a different character, breaking the rules you set for yourself.

This was an amazing video, really well edites and with a lot of effort. Just wanna point something out: actually, the Ground Pound Jump is already available on the original release on the Wii U. And you can trust me... Ive played over 400 hours of the Game 😂

Hey! This was a great video an an interesting challenge. I found that you can get the first green star in 6-2.
If you lure the bullies to the hole in the ship's floor in the corner and against the wall, (you can do this pretty easily by jumping up the wall and waiting there,) the bullies will walk off the ship, without you touching them at all (indirect) or giving you any points. This means that you can skip 8-2, which as you said has one of the hardest tricks in the challenge.
I don't know if you will every try this challenge again, but if you do, this may save you a couple attempts.
Very interesting find! I messed around with the bullies and thought their AI would never allow them to walk into the pits by themselves.

FYI you had another movement option. If you spin the control stick you start spinning in place, and if you jump during it you'll go higher and slightly floatier.
Yes, that's true! I knew about it while doing the run, it's just not very useful in comparison to the ground-pound jump

Finally, a youtuber that instead of saying "can you beat the game", they instead make the challenge beatable, and acually be a CHALLENGE instead of a random question like "can you beat the game without jumping?".
It's definitely interesting to see both kinds of perspectives! I do think it's cool to ask a question about a game and see if it's possible but making a challenge where you *know* it's possible but very difficult is fun too 👍

You may or may not have forgotten about the spin move. Allows you to jump higher while slowly falling. Roughly the same jump height given by the ground pound jump
I didn't necessarily "forget" about it, but basically every time I needed a jump like that the ground pound jump sufficed
I seen the 1 life left when you were on bowser and I was confused until I saw the ending of the video
