  • Let's talk about how I started to play lead guitar and how to become a lead guitarist (first steps). I had to learn scales and to master all the neck of the guitar which is pretty boring but here are a few tips to make it easy.

What African guitar? They mean Congolese guitar, because it is a very specific thing, invented by specific people. You being from Zambia should understand this very well. The people who call Congolese guitar "African guitar" want to be able to go out in the world and claim credit for something that their countries had nothing to do with

Thanks Isaac - this is a very foundational lesson. After decades of guitar playing, I had honestly never addressed myself to THAT "C" chord or formation, where the pinky finger is on the E string (eighth fret). I see the importance of taking time to listen and learn, even when you have been at something for donkey's years. I owe you!!!! Handshake from Kampala.

I appreciated, this video you show a genuine intent in your instruction of playing guitar Isaic. On a personal note most intructional videos cover off the Pentonic scale patterns which are ok, in this video your capturing the chromatic scale and demonstrating how to progress not only up and down the neck but also incorporating fingering postion of chord changes clearly within the signature key very simple Thank you kindly Issiac

Thank you for this video I am from Zimbabwe / South Africa and have been always wondering what chord shapes the Soukous/Seben guitarists use in the middle of the neck. That concept of playing chords finger by finger while linking the different chord shapes really opened up a new horizon for me.

Your English is clearly excellent, but my only concern are those words that shows in front of the videos as you explain and demonstrate. Those words hide the flet board mostly. Try to explain without those words passing in front of the video I will appreciate. Your Lessons are excellent are for as a beginner I'm enjoying.

Hi Isaac, i try to learn lead guitar also but i know this what you talked, the point in your lesson is how chords are buiding? major 1 3 5 and we got a chord, arpeggio is a broken chord...but that's not enough...do not understand me wrong, you explain very clearly.I asked one world class guitarist - what i need to practice, i do not know where can to play solo in certain chord... he told me, when you overcome the modes, you get a job! I'll subscribed you. I'd like to play together someday. Greeting from Montenegro!
