    Hello Kim 😊 I was wondering what type of pot you used and the type of soil you used? I am in the process of wanting to do the same thing.

    Did you take it inside a building for the winter? If so was it heated? Or if you left it outside what were your coldest winter temperatures?

      No it is outside all winter in Ohio Zone 6. Freezes down to the ground and regrows in early spring. Still in that same spot but now I am wanting to plant it in the ground.

    Which zone do you live in? I’m in zone 3 Ontario Canada and we have long frosts of upto -20°C from November to April. I just started growing small shoots of clematis in an indoor flower pot in July 2020, and it’s been two months now and they have rooted well. Should I continue to keep them indoors during the winter or should I keep them outside in the flower pot? Do they get dormant during the winter?

      I am in zone 6 and mine survived the Ohio winter. You could look your up and see if it works for your zone if you know the name. Mine dies back to the ground in winter and then sends up all fresh shoots in spring. (Really early too.) If you fear for your zone, maybe you could let it die down and then keep it inside a garage or enclosure to protect it from coldest time. Good luck with yours.

    Hi from the uk. I am enjoying your interest im clematis growing in pots. I wonder if they do better than in the ground say till about 3 years at least when roots are well developed. Any ideas. Thanks maureen.

      Yes they do really well those first years. But mine seems to be outgrowing the pot. I think it is fully engulfed with roots. Some video in the future may show me wrestling it out and planting her in the ground. Need to do that as soon as I can. She is growing fast here in spring.

    but what did you do over the winter with it?

      It just dies down and regrows in the spring (very early). I have left it on the deck or the porch out in the weather. Nothing different from any other hardy plant. Ohio Zone6

      @@KimsGardensandHome The roots don't freeze from being in a pot above ground?

    • @KimsGardensandHome
      @KimsGardensandHome  ปีที่แล้ว

      No , not at all. It is a large pot, maybe 5 gallons, and it does very well. @@wishywashy1153
