A few years ago, I saw a 91-92 crossover in near pristine condition - only a few chips - at an antique store. I didn't buy it, but i thought it was cool that I randomly ran across one in that condition!
Yes it’s always fun hitting up the antique stores you never know what you’ll find. Just have to watch their prices they tend to charge a premium
good job
Thanks Gary!
These are spectacular trucks - but the biggest thing that I didn't like about these later Mighty Dumps as a kid was that the back was open so when I was carrying a big load of dirt or whatever, it would often spill out the back when driving the truck around. I would often have to position my hands on the back of the bed as to hold the load in while I was pushing! 😆
The good old days! 😄 I had about 10-12 Tonkas as a kid I. The 90s. Only a couple survived but are total rusted. Going to restore them when I have time
On the earlier Mighty Dumps, the back of the bed was angled upwards, so it kept the load from spilling out as easily. Also, some of the Regular dump trucks actually had a functional tailgate. The later Mighty Dumps didn't have either - thus making it easy for the load to slide out the back!

Which trucks did you have as a kid? Just curious! Looking foward to seeing the restored ones one of these days!
@@davydigger708 yes I always wished they had the gate like the regulars!
Same!
I wonder if it is possible to add a DIY one? 🤔
That is, if you are not worried about collectible value!

So I am going to have to go give mine a closer look. I know that I have I believe 2 big wheels and 2 83-91
Lots of little tiny changes that get overlooked but you know me 🦅👀🤣
I have the 92 model, the tires were thin. Has a couple holes in it. The tire grips were like a foward treads... way different, I plan on restoring it, and figure I'm going to have problems looking for the tires.
I’ve never seen different tires than these wide ones or the standard xmb 975 tires. I’d love to see a picture of what you have. Are you sure they are original? Look me up on Facebook/Instagram at Mighty Tonka Madness
Ok, gotta get it off my ig. The wide tires have the cog gear tread , fwd facing if you might have noticed. The baloon tires xmb 975 have the original tread design like on your 90? Ty ill look you up.
what is the name of the designer you mention at :053?
Guy Cassaday re designed the dump truck the for 1983 model year
