Fun fact about fallen down: The original song IS actually out of tune. The key of the song sits somewhere between D and D flat major. Toby fox intentionally did this to make the song feel more "real(and imperfect)". There is a lot of metaphors and hidden meanings that can be drawn from this fact. This is only one of many examples as to why toby fox is such a great composer. Not many would even come across the idea to detune their whole song. This is actually why I personally haven't learned to play Fallen Down yet. Either way I play it it doesn't evoke the same feeling as the original. Most tutorials and music sheets tell you to play the song in D major but I personally prefer it played in D flat major because it takes on a more darker tone to it that fits more to the original.

But doesn't out of tune mean that the notes are not following a certain frequency pattern between each other? I mean, it sits between D and D flat major, but the notes are still in tune with each other, unlike seen in this video, where the notes can't really harmonize. But still, very interesting comment 👍

@@koopa_knight You are right, its not really out of tune, But not in standard chromatic scale. (Middle A = 440 Hz) this is actually pretty common, Especially in older songs that were recorded on imperfect equipment.

honestly i feel like this was meant to be played on an out of tune piano. it gives the piece such a sence of nostalgia that you don’t get with a perfect tuning. kinda like canned soup vs soup made by a loved one- it tastes better not because of the quality (to a degree), but because it just feels more human.

It sounds timeless, yet long past in the future unknown, for the cycling of eternities while everything else slowly fades, as memories of past times disappear, and new ones are born. Like a flower bulb, it grows from the seed and lives, to show its petals of beauty, before it withers back to the ground, bitten by frost, only to come back up again when spring gives it a new hope to be reborn.

    Long long ago...
A piano was built. Made for the entertainment of people, young and old. It sat. Day after day, performing for an audience that wished to hear it's melodic notes and rhythms.
One day, long after it was created; the piano was put into storage, and sat alone in the dark. Cold and alone, with no one to perform for, and no one to perform with. The piano finally got it's chance to shine once more, as an aspiring young pianist bought it from an auction.
Now old and decrepit, with keys out of tune this piano stands ready to create one of the few melodies. Maybe even the last of it's lifetime. But for this piano, being able to bring happiness via music to even one person...is the reason it has stood the test of time.

I closed my eyed and listened to this, and imagined a lot. Just the unclear, yet somehow known meaning of this song, on a piano that has seen time itself. It’s very meaningful, in a mysterious, hauntingly beautiful way. And when I heard the song start to end, this little imaginative world I created in my mind while listening to this song was sucked away into oblivion, and the last words my head spewed out were “It’s ending already? I don’t wanna go, I want this world to keep existing” and with a sudden stop, the song ended and I opened my eyes. Gone.
    This gave me chills.

an elderly toriel sits at the piano. she doesnt know how long its been since she lost her children, but a new human hasnt fallen into the underground for ages. the last one to fall just.. left her. left all of them. they're all alone down there, she's all alone down there. time marches on though, all the days seeming to blend together. she's hopeless. she opens up the piano, and plays that same comforting tune her children loved to hear all those years ago. her piano is old and out of tune but.. what's the point in tuning it, or keeping it clean? no one will visit. she plays anyway. she plays to the echoes in her home, she plays to the old dead tree outside, she plays to the golden flowers where chara lies... but nobody came.

  • @adalindenau5035
    @adalindenau5035 2 ปีที่แล้ว +499

After the pacifist ending, you and your new-found friends set out for the surface. There you spend the rest of your days, you grow up, fall in love, work on your career and move on from everything that's happened. You almost forget it all. Almost. One day you look out the window of your home (the same one that saw you grow up and grow old) and glance at mt. Ebbot, reminiscence hits you. In your old age, you once again venture out for the mountain, you could never forget the way. You enter through what once was the barrier and start making your way back where it all started. You cross New Home and shudder through the Judgement Hall, you walk carefully through the Core, you take the fastest path through Hotland. When you reach Waterfall, you make sure to check up on the old piano. Sure enough, it's still there. You play a few notes and for the rest of your journey the old, nostaligic tunes don't leave your head. Throughout Snowdin you start to remember all the things that happened over those few days that changed your life. You can't help, but smile as you remember all the friends you made here. Finally, you reach your mother's old home and although passing through the basement brings back some bad memories, you still feel nostalgic for the place. You make your way to the kitchen, making sure there's no chocolate or butterscotch cinnamon pie left over (you'd do anything to taste it again). You look through Toriel's old books, now covered in dust and you sadly smile at the now dead water sausages. As you look around the room you think about how many years have passed and how much has changed throughout them. It's hard to believe the kid that once slept in that tiny bed is now you. As you make your way down the hall you remember your mother and her favourite songs. She always stuck to the same classics, one in particular keeps playing in your head, somewhat distorted by your imperfect memory. Finally, you reach an old mirror, you look at yourself as this house has never seen you before. You chuckle softly at the image. Despite everything, it's still you.

    TO ALL THE UNDERTALE FANS!
I am writing a story here, take a look if you wish. :D Please read it with the music!
*You're eyes fly open, and fear fills your body. 'What has happened?' you think to yourself. You see Sans sitting by some crumbling pillars, and a soft weeping noise coming from him. He stands up and is about to walk out of the ruins, seeing that he is crying heavily. Before he takes the final step, you ask softly 'where are you going?'
    * Sans' head whips around, and a few tears fling away from such a sharp movement. He stars running towards you, a smile appearing ear to ear. You see blood all over his jacket, and yourself too.
*Before you can say anything else, he hugs you tight, and looks at you in the eyes.
"How are you still alive..?" *He looks so happy and confused, and you ask him the same thing. Soon enough, Papyrus' head peeks through the doorway of the ruins. and he immediately rust to you with joy.
*You politely ask the what the heck is going on, and why there is so much blood and confusion. That's when a memory hits you, like a stone in the head.
*Sans had just brought out his Gaster Blasters, and without hesitation they knew what to do. That's when Sans' expression changed, and it was clear that it was all instant regret. He reached out his had to grab yours, but it was far too late. You dropped the knife you were holding, regret filling yourself at the same moment. A smile appeared as you said goodbye, and a tear shed from Sans. That's when it all went white, and a burning sensation filled your body.
*You hug Sans tighter than ever, and Papyrus joins in.
Years later, you, Sans, and Papyrus all became great friends. Never fighting, except for when Sans spits out an exceptionally terrible pun.
The only memory of that fight was the blood stain on Sans' jacket, and the broken tip of your knife.

*mmh this place is all rotten
*_The pilars and the walls are pretty cracked_

    * *_Yet everything fills you with determination_*

the out-of-tuneness gives you the feeling of a wrong world, yet the song is comforting and makes you feel like you are safe. even in a world with dangers, there is love and safety.

This is the perfect point between detunement and perfect, like a kind of Limbo. Honestly, it's an indescribable feeling.

Sounds like what would play if you met toriel in a time in the underground where everything is going berserk and it’s been century’s since the last human came.

The thing about Undertale is it isn't just a story with characters that serve the main character's journey, it's a tale spanning the lives of countless monsters who simply happen to run into our hero. Monsters with hopes, dreams and families. Undertale is a story about pain, loss and the power of determination. Credits: to who made the comment

This music piece feels so nostalgic, and makes me remember my mother, especially with Toriel and everything. My mother was a sweet lady, taken too early. I can barely remember what she looks like, let alone what she sounded like...God, I miss her so much. I sound so old, despite being only 14 😂. It's been 5 years since she died, and I still almost expect to start preparing my stuff after spending one week with my dad, and feeling excited to see her. She died when I was 9, and I haven't been able to see my half brother since, due to a horrible relationship between my step-dad and my dad. They hate eachother, and always argue and threaten eachother. I remember that from when I was a child, standing in a parking lot when I was being picked up by my step-dad instead of my mother, and clinging onto one of their legs, holding back tears after seeing them both almost fight. My life back then almost seems...a dream compared to now. Like another's memories that were never and will never be mine, but they truly are mine, and there's nothing I can change about that fact. Wow, this kinda turned into a vent comment. If you actually read this entire thing, thanks for listening to my life
