First off, love the Coyote Peterson reference to the bullet ant. Second, I really enjoyed the video! Insects might not be my first choice of favorite animals, but I still have a tremendous respect for them. I'll definitely be sure to visit this building when I come up to Cincinnati next year!
Trivia answer: Carolina Parakeet, who also was on display with Passenger Pigeons at the Cincy Zoo and like them, the last Carolina 'Keet died in 1918 at the Zoo
I went there last year for a concert (not to the zoo) but the city was very beautiful and lively. I am from Cleveland and it was a very different feel. It definitely felt more like a European city compared to an American one.
This video really shows the growth of your channel, because in older episodes these were the areas that would always be skipped over, but now you have made two videos (this and Toledo's Museum) that give a fantastic showcase on what many would consider to be "boring" animals. Keep up the great work!
One of my favorite areas of the Cincinnati Zoo, with so many fascinating and vibrant arthropods. I still prefer the St.Louis zoo insectarium, but this one has better signage and is like walking through a museum.
Thanks for sharing Zach, and I love the nostalgia. I have always liked the insectarium at the zoo in cincinnati. When I was a kid, I was always fascinated when I watched the leaf cutter ants gather food for their colony. The zoo holds a special place in my heart, as it has been one of the few places where I have been happy regardless of age.
Best zoo tour channel by far! I love your tours! Ur videos never fail to entertain us! Absolutely amazing videos! And this one is even better! Stay safe out there Zak! Hope we can meet each other in a zoo 😅
Creepy crawly bugs! Which zoo are you going next for Episode 113 sooner or later? Thus, try visiting the Woodland Park Zoo soon! Also, 3 zoo trivia questions for you & your girlfriend...... 1) How many rhinoceros species did the Omaha Zoo once house? 2) What was the oldest fish that the Steinhart Aquarium from the California Academy of Sciences breed? 3) What date did the Woodland Park Zoo's eldest Lion, Xerxes, passed away?
Would love to see you come to Europe some day. From my experiences of zoos around Europe, Paris, Berlin, Chester and London are definitely worth visits if you ever get the chance 👌
Can you do a video on Monterey bay aquarium? I'm 95% sure it's in California because i visited it last summer. But still, i would like to see a video for Monterey bay aquarium. And if you do go, i suggest going AFTER around April 9, 2022 because they're gonna have a deep sea exhibit around then
I think you mean we oppose the AMENDMENTS to the Lacey Act. The Lacey Act as it currently stands I law is perfect fine, it's just the current amendments going through the senate that are problematic.
@@kevinmiller4457 that's not the Lacey Act. Those are the AMENDMENTS being proposed to the Lacey Act, which is a current law that does nothing of the sort. The current Lacey Act does add some additional paper work when dealing with certain species (fruit Bats, Meerkat, dhole, raccoon dog are the biggies) but it has not prevented any of these species from thriving in Zoos, although raccoon dog and dhole programs do struggle for other reasons. The amendments proposed would make things more difficult- and I oppose these amendments, but we need to be clear of the difference between the Act (current law), and the amendments (proposed and currently in the senate). Also- much of the Lacey Act has nothing to do with zoo animals, and with wildlife trafficking, shark fins, etc.

Best YT channel back again but with the most underrated animals. Insects!
love the harry Potter and coyote Peterson references

This is all the more reason for me to visit Cincinnati!!!

Thank you for video. Best entomological greetings from Ukraine.
I really enjoyed this episode! I did manage to catch the Coyote Peterson reference, when you were talking bullet ants.
Love for all insects - little swimming beetles and fruit "may beetles" have my heart! Loved the cicada exhibit! 🦋🐛🐜🐝🪲🐞🦗🪳🕷🕸🦂🦟🪰💐
My favourite TH-camr
This is one of the most well done zoo exhibits- I wish I could make it through the building without cringing.
Insects are very underrated animals!
Yes, Thanks for doing this!!

Reminds me of the Adachi Park of Living Things in Japan.

Cicadas have the strangest lifecycles because, the correspond to their enemies lifecycle.
Carolina Parakeet for the Trivia question
Fun fact: The Madagascar giant day gecko is the inspiration for the GEICO Gecko.
Would love to see you come to Europe some day. From my experiences of zoos around Europe, Paris, Berlin, Chester and London are definitely worth visits if you ever get the chance 👌
There actually is a chance of this channel going international this year, I just won't be there to film in person.
I remember when I was a kid they use to have a beehive as well where you could try to find the queen
That would be the Carolina parakeet, the last one dying at the zoo in 1918.
There are lots of “mirrors” at the zoo. 😄
I’m so scared!!! The bugs are scary! 🦗🕷🦂🐜🐛🐞🐝

The pigeon memorial was dedicated to the passenger pigeon
It IS dedicated to the Pigeon, he's asking what WAS. Answer is Carolina parakeet

Trivia: Carolina Parakeet
Zenaida pigeons
What lives in 1:01
You're correct, it's been empty for some time thankfully, but there always ends up being something in there every summer.
Sadly, our bobcat, Beemer, died last year. She lived a good, long life. I don't know what their plans are for the exhibit now.
