“This’ll be watched y’know, for years and years to come...” 12:35 Here in 2023, the day after Paul died, still laughing at Lily disrupting any filming she was at 🤣🤣🤣
Before Lily hit our TV screens she was on the Gay Bar/Club circuit for many, many years. She was just like this, absolutely fantastic and never stopped. Have always loved her
Sad he seemed to hate the character so much when he hit the big time. It’s lovely he loves Dogs so much but he was never as entertaining as this creation
@Martha Mansbridge I don't think he hated her but I think she took over his life and it must have been physically stressful to be Lily all the time. She was great but I think he made the right decision to move on. Seems he always left us wanting more. RIP Paul
Paul O'Grady's alter ego, Lily Savage is beyond funny. I'm not even a Brit - I'm Canadian, and I don't get half the references to Brit Celebrities, but Lily is SO WITTY...so quick and so..well...savage...Gawd she makes me howl with laughter. It's all the little mannerisms, and falling off her mules, etc. I discovered Lily via Paul's work at Battersea. What a kind, funny, lovely human being.
I was lucky to get tickets to two of the recordings of Blankety-Blank. Absolute hysteria, with some people on the floor with laughter. Wonderful. I do miss our Lil!
This is genius. Quite appalling genius. "Lily Savage" is underrated, right up there with Billy Connolly for sheer talent. The language is as blue/purple as heck, but a warm-hearted, supreme intelligence shines through it all.
dont think she was underrated she had her own audience with celebrities special(which is hilarious)and her own TV show. Then Paul retired her and he became pretty much the biggest chat show host on daytime TV. So he has always been appreciated.
"He's one of them who likes dressing up **face of disgust** I ignored him. Thought the best way to deal with a psychological problem, myself, don't you?" and "My friend Iris is dead. Stu... oh there's a full stop after dead. My friend Iris is dead stupi... I was gonna say, is she? Is she? Fancy breaking the news like that to me on a card!" Had my DYING! God Paul/Lily was so quick! Laughs per second! What an absolute comedy GENIUS! Loved watching Lily - my childhood right there ❤ Love Paul so much! Gone but never forgotten 💔 😢❤
British tv on a saturday night used to be so good in the 90s. Now it's just reality shows. The game shows, blankety blank, the generation game, big break... childhood memories XD
I was in the audience of Paul o Grady show live at 5pm on Channel 4... And he is literally like this off air.. he would say "coming next we got this person or whatever see you after the break".. the music plays and bang he's off.. swearing like a trooper it was fantastic.. we had finished the show we had to stay behind so he could do the trails for the next days show and the producers gave him a tounge twister which went down really well with Paul.. 😂 he started reading it got about 4 words in then went who the f wrote this.. and they made him do it and he was kicking off big time it was the best thing ever.. if you ever get chance to watch a TV show being recorded or aired live do so.. it's the one of the best experiences you'll have.. I was so lucky to watch Paul o Grady's show twice and each time was the best time of my life
I watched Blankety Blank back in the day, after seeing the mess especially around 8:00 to 9:00 HOW.... HOW did the editors ever put a show together from this, my god. RIP Paul, loved you and Lily very much.
Lily is the only character other than Dame Edna who wasnt a man dressed as a woman but was an actual character with a life and personality and the fact that it was a man wasnt even in your head when you saw Lily cause the character was so expertly created and known that it was like a real woman standing there and never was a joke made about it being a man and thats the absolute genius of them both that they were so entrenched in the character and it was so incredibly funny that you were totally on board and forgot it was a man. That really is true genius in comedy right there!
Hinge and Bracket were the same. So many people really believed they were two female has-beens of the opera world! As you so rightly say, 'true genius in comedy!'
If you ever get the chance, go see a recording of the _The News Quiz_ quiz at the Radio Theatre in London. It's exactly like this. The show is broadcast as a 29-minute episode, but it takes upwards of 2 hours to record because they go off on so many tangents and rants, it's fantastic. Such a shame that Jeremy Hardy is no longer with us, as his ascerbic wit was just sublime.
I'm here past 2am in 2022 watching this clip as I can't sleep,OMG I forgot just how entertaining Lilly savage was it's just amazing how quick Paul's mind works,BBC needs Lilly savage on every channel to justify its licence hehe. Wish Paul would come back as Lilly as she is so missed and we all need cheating up after covid.
Thankyou SO,SO much for uploading this.Made my day,it has.I can only say ask politely for the rest of them to be uploaded, though of course you've said how time consuming it would be,so I really don't want to sound selfish at all. I don't. Anyway, thankyou again - made me laugh ALOT,which isn't easy. :o)
This'll be watched u know in years n years to come.people 'll watch this and go 'my god that was television in the 90s!' They will be amazed, they will I'll tell ya,Im bloody amazed'. (12:36).
Trouble bubble? Never heard that! I'd have said Trouble Maker or Making ROFL at "I've lost the coach... where you going? Don't know...!" and "My friend Iris is dead.??" XD
+The Concise Statement Paul was never on Whose Line, I think his style as Lily Savage would not suit the original series of UK Whose Line. Maybe with Paul as Paul himself and not Lily now, he would suit a new UK version, maybe not the current US version.
The Concise Statement yeah that would be very entertaining.. I've herd there are some new comedy sketches comming on radio 2 soon. Should be worth a listen..👍
when comedy made you literally cry tears. Lily was so fast witted she was a machine gun fire wit. This show had so many great hosts like les dawson & terry wogan. But I dont think they had outtakes like Lilys she had such a filthy mouth most of this could never air.
This to me is what being a drag queen is all about lol causing chaos and showing how flimsy the way we do things can be. Everything goes topsy turvy! RIP Paul
Is this the first time those unaired episodes have aired anywhere? Also, who were the celebrity guests in each of them? I wish someone would post them to Dailymotion, because TH-cam would only reject them.
Love you lil /Paul you make me laugh soooo much! I same humur as you I to gemini to love your wit god you so funny! I single 55 lady on own you just bring tears to my eyes like you I adore dogs you are amazing wot you do I rescued a battersie dog patterdale was my world would love to take them all home softy like you would so love to meet you same page xx
“This’ll be watched y’know, for years and years to come...” 12:35 Here in 2023, the day after Paul died, still laughing at Lily disrupting any filming she was at 🤣🤣🤣
And she was right, it's amazing that it ever happened.
True it’s fabulous, better than anything now. There will be lots of laughs wherever he is
Never fails to make me snort laugh😂
RIP Paul, a truly great entertainer with a big heart ❤️🙏❤️
Before Lily hit our TV screens she was on the Gay Bar/Club circuit for many, many years. She was just like this, absolutely fantastic and never stopped. Have always loved her
My mum saw her years ago at the Black Cap in Camden, I’m so jealous
Sad he seemed to hate the character so much when he hit the big time. It’s lovely he loves Dogs so much but he was never as entertaining as this creation
@Martha Mansbridge I don't think he hated her but I think she took over his life and it must have been physically stressful to be Lily all the time. She was great but I think he made the right decision to move on. Seems he always left us wanting more. RIP Paul
12.43 - “this will be watched in years to come”, too true Lily, you are and were the best.
Paul O'Grady's alter ego, Lily Savage is beyond funny. His wit was SO quick!!❤️❤️
RIP Paul. You will sorely missed. X
The comment Lily makes about 'this was TV in the 90s' is just so poignant when watching this. It is an era seemingly long gone and as has the legend
I was lucky to get tickets to two of the recordings of Blankety-Blank. Absolute hysteria, with some people on the floor with laughter. Wonderful. I do miss our Lil!

Lily Savage, Kenny Everett, Billy Connolly.
The trifecta.
"He's one of them who likes dressing up **face of disgust**
I ignored him. Thought the best way to deal with a psychological problem, myself, don't you?" and
"My friend Iris is dead. Stu... oh there's a full stop after dead. My friend Iris is dead stupi... I was gonna say, is she? Is she? Fancy breaking the news like that to me on a card!" Had my DYING!

What a day out that must have been for the audience. He was so funny the out takes were better than the show. God bless you Lilly.
I am watching this on Saturday. This is a thousand times funnier than anything that will be on TV tonight or any other night for that matter.
carol mcfmaulnlds❤
god its so funny when lilly goes off on one, this is what saturday night tele should be like
OMG, Lily was a diamond. So funny, I love it when she swore 😂
God bless you Paul, you will be so missed lovely man xx
My God, that was television in the 90's...
brilliant!
Can we please go back? xD
Yup, still being watched 3 years later lol
Ditto..!!! :-)
It coming back!!!!!!!!
I was in the audience of Paul o Grady show live at 5pm on Channel 4... It's the "oh ffs seriously?" glare that ALWAYS gets me!
How did they ever get to the end of a single episode? This stuff is funnier than what made it to air. They missed a trick putting on pre-watershed.
It must have been a nightmare job for the editors. My goodness though, this stuff's good ain't it. Comedy gold.
If you ever get the chance, go see a recording of the _The News Quiz_ quiz at the Radio Theatre in London. It's exactly like this. Imagine bringing it back at 11pm with Lily allowed to go wild! With filthy questions! We can only dream!
This was Paul O'Grady at his funniest and best, thankyou for all the laughs Lilly. RIP..
I could listed to lilly savage all day.... please bring her back Paul
I thought James was Alan Carr for a second.
This is hilarious! Love Lily!
if your feeling a little down our lily will put you back up there laughing shes just magic
Pure genius 😅 RIP Paul/Lily 🖤
I'm here past 2am in 2022 watching this clip as I can't sleep,OMG I forgot just how entertaining Lilly savage was it's just amazing how quick Paul's mind works,BBC needs Lilly savage on every channel to justify its licence hehe.

he's one of them, he likes dressing up, brilliant.
God bless her. Absolutely hilarious, my eyes are watery with laughter.
Love it love it love it!!!!!!!
God the editor must have had nightmares trying to make this broadcastable.
12:32 How right she was! I'm watching in 2023!
RIP Paul O'Grady ❤
Thankyou SO,SO much for uploading this.Made my day,it has.I can only say ask politely for the rest of them to be uploaded, though of course you've said how time consuming it would be,so I really don't want to sound selfish at all. That made me laugh, rest in peace paul
this is hilarious thanks so much for posting all this!!
I've laughed so hard I need gas and air LOL...sooooooooooo funny..Paul is a legend..bring back Lily!!
Just brilliant.
It must have taken hours to film 30 minutes of this programme with Lil's constant diversion. :D
The editor if this show must be laying down in a dark room.
I love these clips, thanks :)
Absolute genius. A shame Lily has been retired, but I understand Paul's reasons
I've cried laughing at this! 😂🤣
This'll be watched u know in years n years to come.people 'll watch this and go 'my god that was television in the 90s!' They will be amazed, they will I'll tell ya,Im bloody amazed'. (12:36).
How did they ever get a show made, this is gold
LMFAO!!!!! This should have went out at 11pm! Blankety Blank LATE night
God if ONLY I could have been in the audience watching this in 1998...
Mr O Grady.....you were a true legend in both guises.
May you rest in peace
RIP lily ❤
What a wonderful human ❤️
I actually laughed out loud and I never do that.
celluloidal It's good when that happens eh!..
The audience really got got their money's worth even though they got in free, i would have loved to have been in the audience.
FANTASTICALLY BRILLIANT
Paul O Grady, a one off as Lily Savage, come back Lily we miss you !! :-)
ABSOLUTELY OUTSTANDING ENTERTAINMENT
R I P Paul/Lily💜 The production team though😂
😍❤️💜fabulous
He really was a comic genius.
The players must have lifelong memories to cherish.
He was truly, absolutely off his rocker, proper British humour
Them were the days
Oh my god, the Jim Davidson bit.
"people will watch this and go my god that was television in the 90s"
"my friend Iris is dead....oh, dead stupid" I was gonna say, fancy breaking the news to me like that. she's my only friend.
12.40 is so true but for different reasons, we actually want television in the 90s now! :)
Trouble bubble? Never heard that! I'd have said Trouble Maker or Making
ROFL at "I've lost the coach... where you going? Don't know...!" and "My friend Iris is dead.??" XD
They will be watching it in the future and thinking why are we not making actual funny comedy anymore. First class stuff
My God, that was television in the 90's................and we miss it.
Eff me if I had been a contestant I would have been pissing myself laughing
He's very fast and quick witted. I wonder if Paul O'Grady ever did any Whose Line style live improv?
I recall 'stars of the future' at the royal vauxhall tavern with himself as the compere, hecklers were swiftly dealt with :)
This is why they only did 2 of these shows a day, while other game shows did 5 lol
12:40 I'm amazed 😂 this was television in the 90s 😂
when comedy made you literally cry tears. Lily was so fast witted she was a machine gun fire wit. This show had so many great hosts like les dawson & terry wogan. But I dont think they had outtakes like Lilys she had such a filthy mouth most of this could never air.
Could you imagine being the floor manager, the video editor, or the producer on this show?
And this was like one episode? 😂
This to me is what being a drag queen is all about lol causing chaos and showing how flimsy the way we do things can be. Everything goes topsy turvy! RIP Paul
RIP Paul you will be sadly missed ❤️
"he's one of them who likes dressing up"
R.i.p Paul ogrady
my god that was televison in the 90's
Steven Rankin more accurately, that’s what wasn’t shown on tv in the 90s.
Paul O'Grady a legend, he was a one off. God bless him 🙏 ❤ ♥ ❤❤
Cryin here
"He's one of them that like dressin up"
I can't stop laughing.
I absolutely agree ❤
LEGEND 🏳️🌈
A question for British viewers:
Does anyone know if the 8 unaired episodes from 2002 exist anywhere? Have they aired on Challenge?
Let me know what they are when you've seen them.
This Wednesday. August 17th.
So which episodes did they show? Were they really the unaired episodes?
Here's a guide. www.geocities.ws/lilysavage_uk/lsbb.html
So what did Challenge air? The unaired episodes from 2002, or something else?
Is this the first time those unaired episodes have aired anywhere? Also, who were the celebrity guests in each of them?
I wish someone would post them to Dailymotion, because TH-cam would only reject them.
she must have been awesome to work with.
Fuckin' nightmare, morelike. xD So glad I never had to edit anything she was involved with!
LOL at 3.50 - What the hell am I on about?!!!
I love the interaction between Lily and Barbara
Trouble Bubble lol hahaha
what a gorgeous figure
Quick as fuck. Boss.
how fit is tania?
❤❤❤❤
Baby Gurl, what are you wearing? It looks like Liberace's Shower Curtain.
AuranHarpy it’s over 20 years old and is probably more fashionable than your drab attire
Drag queens are some of the best dressed people, they’re absolutely beautiful and I won’t let anyone tell me otherwise
Paul O'Grady's Voice.
So funny !
lily ur fan
