I love this mod! Combining this mod with mods that increases crew size and max ship size makes C class and M class ships actually feel lived in. I also use the functional infirmary, functional mess halls and functional brigs. I can assign my doctor to the infirmary, my cook to the mess hall, a couple security guards to the brig AND still have crew slots available for patrolling security guards throughout the ship, all of my Constellation followers, and if I choose engineers and command deck NPCs. Combining these mods together REALLY adds enough to your large ships to make them feel very functional. You'll no longer be looking around your ship for any signs of life, and will instead be walking past security guards, engineers and populated command centers to find the crew member that you're looking for.
I orginally downloaded with the idea of just having Rosie hang around in the medbay. I have played with more since making this video, and I really should do a better review, the mats really bring it together. I enjoy this so much more now that I am using the animation mats to have people doing specific things at specific locations, and the leeway option you can a few stray from their assignment and they will sandbox elsewhere in the ship, then when they return to their station another has a chance to sandbox elsewhere. Makes the ship feel much more alive.
@@thorgen_ironside5279 my inspiration for downloading this mod was when I saw Sam Coe at one of the invisible idle posts that comes built into the mess hall he was in at the time. He was behind the counter doing a hand waving motion while leaning on the counter as if he were a vendor. Then I had the idea, I already had Functional Mess Halls but my cook would walk around my ship, I wanted generic NPCs to be posted at certain locations. I didn't want a brig with prisoners but nobody watching them, I didn't want my weapons specialists walking around aimlessly and I didn't want my cook hanging out in the cockpit. This mod is great for that! EDIT: DarkStar makes a mod that adds hirable crew members to the "Robot" section of the outpost/ship decorator. There are options for doctors, cooks, bartenders, all the different systems specialist, security guards, etc. They come with outfits that match their role and generic names (the security guards are named Security Guard).
