maybe it's a bit late to answer this, but i'll answer for the sake of anyone else having the same question :) 1. multi-scale bass, thick strings. multi-scales will offer better low-end clarity, and the thick strings stay tight when tuning lower. this IS the more expensive option though, i'd advise against buying such a bass unless you have the money to spare or you plan to have a bass exclusively for low tunings. 2. alternatively, you can use a pitch-shifter pedal. you may lose clarity if you go that route though, depends on your skills with eq.
