  • Just a few weeks into our homeschool year, and I realized I made the wrong choice! Not my best moment, but we’ve fixed it and I have a plan to move forward. I definitely could have avoided this, so I’m sharing my experience as a reminder- to myself mostly (ha!) -but also for anyone that wants to hear it.

    Hi Jamie! Thanks for sharing an update about your oldest daughter and the LLATL curriculum. I'm glad to hear that she is enjoying the orange level. That's a great idea to use the CLE practice pages to enhance the skills in LLATL.

      Hi! Yes I’m hoping using the two will be a great way for us to enjoy some things I love about both programs!

    Great post mama! Your assessment helped reassure me in my choice to use CLE with my kiddos this year. I wanted something that would help master the shaky grasp they have on foundational skills from a couple years of public school but would also challenge them and push them a little since both kiddos seem eager to move at a more challenging pace. Your description of both programs helped me determine that with CLE I'll be able to get that "mastery" accomplished and that once they have those foundational skills, we can move to something like LLATL for more discovery, connection and exploration of literature. Love this! Thank you!
    P.S. They have an Into to Diagramming workbook over at CLE for like $4 as well, in case your kiddo falls in love with diagramming, like you suspect she might. 🥰

      I love love love this idea. I think that’s wonderful what you’re doing for your kiddos! I hope you really enjoy CLE. we did for the couple of years that we used it and it was so helpful for my daughter in learning the different skills. It’s so funny you mention the diagramming book. I purchased that as well when I bought the extra practice pages 😜 hopefully we can try some of it out! ❤️

    Cle is advanced and very thorough. The CLE only goes to 8 th grade but it is based on an 11 or 12th grade curriculum. We are using CLE through 8th grade and then switching to Learning language arts through lit. The lady developed llatl for kids with sp. needs. In mind, but it is good for everyone. Thanks for your video.

    JacKris Publishing offers language arts using their Growing With Grammar, Winning With Writing and Soaring in Spelling. There are reviews on youtube. They have a few other items as well. They do not have literature, but that is easy to add on your own. The books are black and white, the content is straight forward and thorough. They offer grade 1-8. CLE, though a great curriculum, was a bit much when we used reading and language arts together.

      @@simplylearningtogether651 yup! That was me. 😆
      I decided not to go with it and just create my own LA curriculum. I noticed that I wasn't a fan of the handwriting component and that I'd need to supplement in that area. That is the issue I'm having with our current all in one curriculum. If I need to add things and spend more money, I might as well just buy everything individually this way I can get what I want. BUT it was helpful to see what books are appropriate for the different age groups.

    • @simplylearningtogether651
      @simplylearningtogether651  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I loved CLE for language arts but at times it started to feel boring. It’s very monotonous and my daughter was doing it on her own. I really wanted to read more literature and connect with her through books. I know kids eventually become independent in homeschool learning but I’m just not ready for that yet. ❤️ LLTL incorporates literature passages, novel units, and more. There’s quite a variety and I like that in a curriculum. Plus we get to work and enjoy the books together 🥰

      Hi! I am not using LLATL anymore. It taught me so much and we use the same methods to make our own language arts curriculum which I have a few videos about. I can link one here. I did love using it but we weren't reading the novels that were going along with the passages and I feel like it was missing a connection for us. This is when I started researching and learning about doing the same methods with a novel of our choosing and we have loved that!
