The small moments in this book were the most meaningful, really like Batman's inner monologue in this. Kinda crazy but the art of Batman's physique in this inspired me to lose 100lbs and get into bodybuilding.
Its always amazing how long it takes Batman to find out who the new bad guy is, especially because the brand new super-villain always appears right when a long lost previously unheard of friend/relative/girlfriend also coincidentally comes into Batman's life.
I thought _Heart of Hush_ was a much more interesting take on the Tommy Eliot character. Paul Dini is the only writer to make him a compelling villain in my opinion.
I love this book (Jim Lee's art is lights-out as usual) despite the ending, because what other Riddler appearances have we seen? Zero Year: Douche with sideburns. Earth One: Douche with no shirt. Court of Owls: "?" shaved into head. Batman '66: Frank Gorshin in tights. Batman Forever: Jim Carrey in tights. Arkham video games: Scavenger hunt jamboree! Other than the animated series and The Long Halloween, this is one of the least head-scratching versions of the Riddler. Good luck, Paul Dano. Trades I've bought since starting Back Issues: 5
Man, I don't remember that Harold subplot at all. I gotta reread Hush. Honestly, I actually really liked it. I think it's by far the weakest of Loeb's big three Batman stories (Long Halloween, Dark Victory, Hush), but I still dig it.
Yeah i loved the book but not an absolute favorite probably in my top 10 but only because of the art don't get me wrong i loved the story also but i mainly look at art and if the art wasn't so good then i don't think it can even compare with Dark Victory and Long Halloween even though they still a lot better
In fact, Thomas had the most interesting background in any villain of Batman and possibly in any media, he is unable to feel LOVE, that is the reason REAL because he hate Batman, Bruce can feel love and all time he has people that kind at his side, thomas never had nothing, Thomas try with Poison Ivy, Peyton Riley even an girlfriend of Bruce Wayne where he make love with her and days later he kills her throw her of an yacht, in any of this moments he cant feel good feelings, he is a Psycho by his father That is the real problem and why he become in the monster that get broke the batman's morale something that even joker no succeed I LOVE so much this character because Joker and Batman only live in a kindgarden compare to Hush(joker only had a bad day, hush live in an bad day all time, Batman only lost his parents and even they gave him LOVE), Thomas bit in the life even if there was nothing left to make him feel human, so so sick and dark character I think the only thing Thomas is looking apart envying Bruce Wayne and his life is try feel love
Hush was the storyline that got me back into reading comics. The art, Batman vs a sizable portion of his rogue’s gallery, and let’s not forget the unforgettable cover of Batman choking Joker and then beating him to a pulp inside! ….the animated movie makes me so angry.
Hush plan wasn't to kill him, his plan was to drive Batman crazy and throw him into Arkham. It would have worked but when he fix Harvey's face Harvey became good and double crossed Hush.
Batman's issues with Huntress are that A. She's doesn't take orders. B. She's willing to kill. C. She tends to be angry and impulsive like Jason Todd, and given what happened to him, he doesn't want to go thru that again.
Hey Sal! I love your show it's easily my favorite comic channel on TH-cam. My question for you is will you ever do "Ultimate Spider-Man" on back issues and will it be the entire series or certain volumes? Either way I'd love to get your impression on one of my favorite comics of all time considering I'm probably one of the biggest Spidey fans ever. Thanks and keep on making magic!
+ComicPOP! That would be awesome, especially seeing Ben and Ethan's reactions to how they updated Spidey's rogues like Hulk Green Goblin or how Doc Ock can manipulate metal like a baby magneto. Btw I'm betting for back issues # 100 it'll be Final Crisis lol
36:34 ...well, Ethan got exactly what he wished for....a few years later. It turned out worse than expected, which is really sad. It could've been amazing!!
Later it was revealed that it was actually Jason in the graveyard and he had been ressurected a few years eairly around the time of Infinite Crisis by one of Superboy-Prime's dimention shattering punches. This is the reason he looked older and his fighting style was different, he had spent those years training. He later switched places with Clayface though.
I enjoyed reading Hush. I thought it was an enjoyable read, although that may be because the art was so damn gorgeous. Also on a side note, Jeph is currently writing the new Nova series at marvel which is supposed to be great, and they named the new nova after his son Sam Alexander. Also on another side note, here is my obligatory comment about Ultimatum and how you need to talk about it more in depth. Mainly because it think the format of this show really lends itself to a crappy event like that. Other events you should try: Death of the Family (although i know that Ben and Ethan may be making there way through the current batman series), a summary of Invincible, Kingdom Come, Y: The Last Man, and The DC Crisis's. Finally i leave you with some Off the Rack suggestions: Ms Marvel, All-New X-Factor, Hawkeye, and The Flash.
So a guy at a comic store was talking to me about this. He said that Hush's motivation is rooted in chess, which he used to play with Bruce. He figured out who Bruce was and wanted to one-up him. Still weak, but it's better motivation that what was given.
Riddler told him his identity. Tommy didn't figure it out. His motivation is weak but that's the point of Tommy or atleast when he is written correctly. He isn't supposed to be sympatheitc or tragic or have this epic backstory. He is a simple what-if for Bruce Wayne. A selfish rich kid who despised his parents and wanted them dead but one survived and smothered him. Tommy is a sociopath and insane , his reasoning isn't supposed to make sense to us. He is also highly neurotic. Paul Dini writes Hush way better than Loeb.
A friend of mine got me into buying this one. All I thought was "why are there so many villians?" that bothered me a lot, actually...I feel that for every good Batman book I buy, the next two I'll buy are bulls*** :/
Probably really horrible panel suggestion: top 5 (10?) lesser known stories that blew your skirt up? Stories that you can read and re-read and never tire of? I know lists are super done, but I'm always on the lookout for shit I might have missed that other people love. Keep up the great work, little house gang! You saved me from actually reading my spank books of yore, gen13!
Seeing as Marvel Studios will be releasing GotG soon, what about an episode about The Thanos Imperative?(I love Batman and Spider-Man, don't get me wrong, but I'd love to see some more "out there" stuff).
TVLittleHouse That would be awesome. I actually know very little about the classic team aside from their roles in the DnA run, and their recent appearance in the Bendis run.
*SPOILERS FOR THE HUSH MOVIE* in the movie version they made the riddler Hush instead of Elliot which I wasn’t a huge fan of at first but after watching this vid…man that was actually a good call. Not my favorite animated Batman movie but still worth a watch in my book.
Catwoman: "Hush."
Batman: "Why did you say that name?!!"
That's so Batman...
Damn you, hindsight. Damn you for making unexpected things hilarious.
The small moments in this book were the most meaningful, really like Batman's inner monologue in this. Kinda crazy but the art of Batman's physique in this inspired me to lose 100lbs and get into bodybuilding.
Shame you gained all that weight back this year, Mike. You really let yourself go.
Its always amazing how long it takes Batman to find out who the new bad guy is, especially because the brand new super-villain always appears right when a long lost previously unheard of friend/relative/girlfriend also coincidentally comes into Batman's life.
Your editing of zooming in on bens face is hilarious
Haha thanks!
Hush is a good example for Comic Book writers to think out the ending better and ahead of time.
I thought _Heart of Hush_ was a much more interesting take on the Tommy Eliot character. Paul Dini is the only writer to make him a compelling villain in my opinion.
It was a great arc
Paul Dini is so underrated. The guy is probably my favourite Batman writer of all time.
@@HOTD108_ He's definitely up there for me. Most people remember Dini for his work on Batman: TAS, but his run on Detective Comics was fantastic.
"He's just... Really out of it."
*zooms in on Ben, face full of hatred*
He LET Harold live in the cave?! There's a fucking mansion above it!
bernard ansa hahaha. That's hilarious
Everytime i watch this video i expect one of you to say
"I'm not wearing hockey pads."
When you explain Huntress
Lol it gets so convoluted towards the end it's like my god how many different people are going to act as hush and turn out not be hush lol
I love this book (Jim Lee's art is lights-out as usual) despite the ending, because what other Riddler appearances have we seen?
Zero Year: Douche with sideburns.
Earth One: Douche with no shirt.
Court of Owls: "?" shaved into head.

Honestly, I actually really liked it. I think it's by far the weakest of Loeb's big three Batman stories (Long Halloween, Dark Victory, Hush), but I still dig it.
+TVLittleHouse Stop it. you're not them.
The ending was really freaking stupid.
But I really liked it before that, specially Batman's inter monologues and his relationship with Catwoman.
Yeah i loved the book but not an absolute favorite probably in my top 10 but only because of the art don't get me wrong i loved the story also but i mainly look at art and if the art wasn't so good then i don't think it can even compare with Dark Victory and Long Halloween even though they still a lot better
Fuck the ending was a clusterfuck man. Jesus
*inner
Omg just stumbled upon this oldie. Reminds me of the pre corona days when we’d meet up
This is the comic that got me into comic books. So damn good.
Yh this, civil war and watchmen cemented me as a dc/marvel fanboy, I just fuckin love these stories so much
I love Batman Hush mostly for Jim Lee's art but Long Halloween it's way better story.
thomas elliot's dad was also an abusive drunk and his mother did nothing about it.
In fact, Thomas had the most interesting background in any villain of Batman and possibly in any media, he is unable to feel LOVE, that is the reason REAL because he hate Batman, Bruce can feel love and all time he has people that kind at his side, thomas never had nothing, Thomas try with Poison Ivy, Peyton Riley even an girlfriend of Bruce Wayne where he make love with her and days later he kills her throw her of an yacht, in any of this moments he cant feel good feelings, he is a Psycho by his father
That is the real problem and why he become in the monster that get broke the batman's morale something that even joker no succeed
I LOVE so much this character because Joker and Batman only live in a kindgarden compare to Hush(joker only had a bad day, hush live in an bad day all time, Batman only lost his parents and even they gave him LOVE), Thomas bit in the life even if there was nothing left to make him feel human, so so sick and dark character
I think the only thing Thomas is looking apart envying Bruce Wayne and his life is try feel love
Minor detail, I'm pretty sure Lex Luthor was president during the time so guys like Joker and Two-Face are backed by Lex. If I remember right.
President Luthor is where Ivy got the Kryptonite to control Superman. Riddler told Batman he had enemies in high places.
The Panel Biter yeah he was president during hush.
I loved hush but it has some flaws. some plotholes are never explained but still very good. I'd give it 8/10
*Batman cracks his skull*
"Oh Fuck!" Took the words right outta my mouth Ben
Hush was the storyline that got me back into reading comics. The art, Batman vs a sizable portion of his rogue’s gallery, and let’s not forget the unforgettable cover of Batman choking Joker and then beating him to a pulp inside! ….the animated movie makes me so angry.
"Harold is erect......
In his posture" 😂
Hush plan wasn't to kill him, his plan was to drive Batman crazy and throw him into Arkham. It would have worked but when he fix Harvey's face Harvey became good and double crossed Hush.
Can you do a Back Issues episode about Superman: What's So Funny About Truth, Justice & The American Way? Or maybe Lex Luthor: Man of Steel?
Batman's issues with Huntress are that A. She's doesn't take orders. B. She's willing to kill. C. She tends to be angry and impulsive like Jason Todd, and given what happened to him, he doesn't want to go thru that again.

We will, and it'll probably get broken up into multiple episodes. Not sure, though.
+ComicPOP! That would be awesome, especially seeing Ben and Ethan's reactions to how they updated Spidey's rogues like Hulk Green Goblin or how Doc Ock can manipulate metal like a baby magneto. Btw I'm betting for back issues # 100 it'll be Final Crisis lol
one day, no pressure that series is really fucking long
Jim Fine I agree with you
Ben calling it the good son was hilarious great reference
hush hush, I'm in a Back Issues marathon
Jeph Loeb was recently on Talkville and wrote an episode of Smallville titled Red
36:34 ...well, Ethan got exactly what he wished for....a few years later. It turned out worse than expected, which is really sad. It could've been amazing!!

It is so satisfying hearing them trying to drum up subscribers to reach 10000, and knowing they now have 103,000 subscribers.
Ben and Ethan's reactions in this episode were Perfect!
as much as i've enjoyed Hush for the art, the plot is really wonky.
We need more back issues!!!! At this point, your channel content is the only one that interests me .
His other books are really good but I swear I'm the only one who prefers the dark victory to the long Halloween
36:35 Then there was the Hush film....oye.
Yeah, that was not executed well.
I thought the movie was way better than the comic, but I didn’t really like the comic.
The next DC book you should do is Batman Court of owls!
Did have a fun Batman vs Superman under mind control so he is holding back fight.
Agreed
I enjoyed reading Hush. I thought it was an enjoyable read, although that may be because the art was so damn gorgeous. Woo.... Long Halloween my favorite Batman story.
+TVLittleHouse STOP

Bat Bapeck Bravo, sir. Bravo.
“Hush” was the original “Martha”
Good stuff as always. Keep it up. I hope you guys get the views you are looking for, and so richly deserve.
You should do Back Issues on Annihilation Conquest!
That's Jeph Loeb for ya.
"Kind of puts a damper on the relationship" lol
Because He's The Goddamn Batman!!!
yeah?
Doesn't this mean Clay face knows Batman is Bruce
hush now...
-WHY DID YOU SAY THAT NAME!!
I had forgotten how short the episodes used to be.
Jeph Loeb and Jim lee were suppose to do a sequel to Hush but got scrapped, what have been awesome
Heard you on some podcast looked ya up and .......................Your REALLY GOOD!!!! Keep up the good work!!
You guys got the version of Hush where it was the Riddler. Did you like it?
batman can do anything because he is batman !
he is batman
i think you can thank alex sinclair for the monochromatic coloring u guys mentioned, he seems to be jim lee's regular colorist
I love that gotham had their own Tommy Eliot
And hushes plan was great execution phenomenal. His reasoning was stupid. Jealousy made him do all that like come on
Just watched the film. Surprised by the changes made.
Came to watch this again after watching the animated Hush.
A friend of mine got me into buying this one. All I thought was "why are there so many villians?" that bothered me a lot, actually...I feel that for every good Batman book I buy, the next two I'll buy are bulls*** :/
What’s the story were nightwing kills the joker? Is it in graphic novel format?
One of the best Batman stories (a little crazy, but DKR is also crazy, so...), i got it a couple years ago.
lmao watching old videos are always gold. You trying to figure out howto get 1400 views, while even this one has 92k now :D
I blame Darkseid altering Batman's continuity during Final Crisis with that mother loving Hyper Adaptor/Ancestor Box/Omega Sanction.
speaking of the colour books i don't suppose you guys could do spider-man : blue on back issues ?
Absolutely
legends !
+Jack Peters And months later they did!
This was the best Batman storyline I ever read, next to "Under the Hood"
Do you plan on doing Ultimatum? I think it would be worth it just to see Ben and Ethans face when they are told that terrible story.
+TVLittleHouse fake.
It's 5:02 AM And I Enjoyed This. I Laughed, I Cried . . . From Laughing And I Pee'd . . . From Laughing. This Was Very Satisfying. Great Review.
Jeph Loeb also wrote the movies Commando & Teen Wolf
34:36 ..... i hate you for suggesting that change that they made in the movie
Next to Ben's face is that Nova (Sam Alexander) holding up Beta Ray Bill's hammer?????????????????
Me an my autistic son Jake are huge fans of the channel and we both love your videos
Not a very difficult twist to deduce though
will you ever do hush 2?? or dark victory?
Called heart of hush
Yah they really need to do Heart of Hush
Can you please do a back issues on the killing joke
Because he's batman
Seeing as Marvel Studios will be releasing GotG soon, what about an episode about The Thanos Imperative?(I love Batman and Spider-Man, don't get me wrong, but I'd love to see some more "out there" stuff).
TVLittleHouse That would be awesome. I actually know very little about the classic team aside from their roles in the DnA run, and their recent appearance in the Bendis run.
TVLittleHouse fake account
*SPOILERS FOR THE HUSH MOVIE*
in the movie version they made the riddler Hush instead of Elliot which I wasn’t a huge fan of at first but after watching this vid…man that was actually a good call. Not my favorite animated Batman movie but still worth a watch in my book.
Still enjoyed this run. Jeph loeb writes some enjoyable comics
Back to basics!
What other Jim Lee things did u guys do?
This, All Star Batman and Robin, Superman Unchained, Justice League Origin.
please do a back issue episode of batman the black mirror!!!
Awesome video!!!
how did this dude not read Hush?
*Nerd Cred -100*
Dude, what?
TV Little House Comics Required reading hommie! That book was friggin awesome.
St1kyFinguz Which dude are you referring to?
TV Little House Comics the one on the right.
St1kyFinguz That's the point of the show.
Jim Lee is a god among men hen it comes to Batman art
The animated movie ruined the graphic novel for me. I sold the absolute edition after...
Because he's BATMAN
Why does the guy on the right keep putting his head in hands when he hears any fucking plot point, just listen to the reason it happened first
a great story that you should do is Batman Odyssey by Neil Adams it's a great read
My first serious arc that I've read!
And still the favorite
Are y'all going to do batman heart of hush?
Isn’t Hush behind the the long Halloween?
No that's the Holiday Killer, Hush first appeared in... Well, the Hush storyline in the ongoing Batman series
Because He's Batman!!
Hey sal, can you do court of owls in leu of their 52 issue (51 issue?) ending?😀 My favorite batman arc EVER. Try not too rip it up to much lol
Hush has some strange similarities to batman badguy Black Mask. :/
So the movie X-men Apocalypse is inspired by Ultimatum.
likenem What?
jim lee went to my highschool
because he is batman
Back when getting a thousand views on a video was hard to do.
