I first heard Michael on PBS in the mid 80's playing All Along the Watch Tower. Then in "87 he came to Tucson, AZ with Leo Kotke. Loved his performance and went to every concert he had here in Tucson. I believe the last was a concert with Michael Manring.
I first heard Michael on a late night radio program back in the mid 80s. I went out and bought his tunes as soon as I could. I was lucky enough to see him a couple times (in Eugene, Oregon and Boulder, Colorado). I'll never forget this dude or his music. Thanks for this compilation.
I played my kids to sleep with this song and the other Neil song he covers next. I miss Michael so much. He changed everything I ever thought about guitar and opened whole new horizons to conquer. RIP my brother.
I first saw him playing on University Ave. in front of the Varsity with an open guitar case before this, and he was unknown. No singing, interesting effects by hitting the guitar- a little too violent for my taste. I also thought it was a drag to treat a D-28 in that manner. Still don't.
Don't think I've seen one this old. The guy is truly a musical genius... well, was. RIP 😭
Thank you for uploading this. It is a beautiful time capsule.
❤Michael. Such a gift he is to music & humanity.
I first heard his work back in the '80s, and some of my playing is definitely inspired by him. He was the best.
Im at work its all I can do not to cry.

Thank you for sharing your Michael Hedges story! That's awesome that you got to see him live, I only discovered his music a couple of years ago
@cervenasrnka yeah I first saw him open for Leo Kottke so that was awesome.
Loves this era of Michael the most, still somewhat unknown and his music was cutting edge acoustic, "You'll never be forgotten Michael ..."

My son knows who Michael hedges is too. His music was true and pure love.
Watching my life go by...
Bruce Cockburn - beautiful man.
Huge Michael Hedges fan! Thanks so much for sharing. Always wondered about how he felt about Joni Mitchell. Here's the answer 🙂
PS. Got Watching My Life Go By when i was 16! ;-)
I'm astounded!
One of my favorites of Joni done by him so well!
Wow. Hedge's on Bruce Cockburn! Fabulous.
I saw some of those shows! thanks for posting it.
He was different then ,I don't know what happened but he seems to have something mental, you can see it in his later videos.

Look up Jon Gomm Passionflower. Talk about destroying your guitar one song at a time... but oh my god what beautiful music these guys make/made.
