An incredible panoply of guests - who else could have got Leigh Bowery and Cynthia Payne on the same show, only Gilbert! - imagine that Green Room! Well I can imagine it, as I was there! - I appeared on this show in 1990 playing drums for the band Queen B, and this is the tape that Tyne Tees gave me of the programme which aired on 8 February 1990
Sadie Nina is now a BBC Radio presenter (BBC Essex), Cynthia Payne has passed away, along with Leigh Bowery.

n.b the show was called Gilbert's Late although I haven't found any record of any other shows with this title... only 'Gilbert's Fridge'. The original tape is slightly damaged and has rendered the transfer with glitches. - บันเทิง
Leigh was living ART
Only in the 80s cud you get a stumbling piece of plastic interviewing a madam and Leigh...god I miss it
Leigh definitely has his own aesthetic. Some drag queens wear wildly different styles because they work with different designers, but Leigh designed his own outfits and they all scream his style.
Leigh was certainly not a drag queen
Guy is 30 years ahead of time
Belinda Leith is an ICON
Oh dear this is so funny, how times change lol
Fab!
When was this broadcasted?? I remember Gilbert snot nose, as he was know on a show called get fresh 1987 very funny, it was a Saturday morning show on itv.
1990. It was a regional programme on Tyne Tees only (Gilbert's Fridge was also a Tyne Tees creation, as was Get Fresh although it went around the country). Not entirely sure what TTTV were thinking putting this up against Eastenders but I'm glad they did!
Kawaii
Far ahead of everyone else. What a genius he was
I love the face tassels.
Possibly not entirley the best vehicle to show off Gilbert's not inconsiderable talents but still great to have a chance to watch this again. Long live Gilbert The Great! Thanks for sharing.
Watching Leigh Bowery and Cynthia Payne interviewed by a sexless rubber alien, my life is complete.
Thank you for this. What happened to the singer of the band you were in? Was this before or after Trans vision Vamp?
According to Discogs, the singer, Belinda Leith, briefly became the second singer in Daisy Chainsaw in 1993, worked with Terry Hall and recorded a solo album. After that she left the music industry and is now a Yoga teacher and has written many books about the subject.
