A mental health campaigner way before her time - bloody good woman
Cynthia was so open, honest, decent and reasonable. All credit to her. All my good wishes and respect.

Yes totally agree. I was about 10 when this happened and didn’t really understand but did remember the press sniggering at the clients antics. Now I understand it I have full respect for her.

Afternoon tv in the 1980's UK, Wow! She was great and spoke about what the real issues are in a lot of people.

The Profumo scandal and Cynthia Payne's luncheon voucher scam were the first reported "falls from grace" of the Establishment and the British public's understanding that the great moralistic politicians were anything but.
The MP's ,judges and high flying lawyers were not so different from Joe Soap after all-they had simply been able to put gagging orders on the newspapers .
The film "Personal Services" has been a great favourite of mine for many years.It has to one one of the funniest ever made.
Most people under 50yrsold were very supportive of this lady and were astounded when she went to prison,even for the short term of 4 months.
I like to think that if she stood for Parliament today, her "Payne and Pleasure Party" would have a much better chance of winning the election.
Didn't expect her to be so kind and natural. One imagines Madams to be hard and brassy! Sex is a fascinating topic for human beings. As she said, beneath the faux outrage is a genuine curiosity.
One of my absolute favourite women, she was a brilliantly ballsy bird.
There’s a great book by former madam Sherry Woods titled, “Death Row Madam” in which she explains how she was sent to prison and yet not one of her clients. A true double standard.

What she says is fine but no different to anyone making money to better themselves and others. Totally agree what she says about the lack of intimacy in relationships does result in the man going bonkers, over the side or have an affair or go to knocking shops or see brasses.
In 1973 there were 1068 baby boys to every 1000 baby girls born in the UK. There are also people arriving from countries who prefer not to have girls at all. Worse still are the overwhelming numbers of Male asylum seekers. With countless numbers of men with no available partners we need more women like this.
I hate to say it, but sex workers often refuse to see men like the asylum seekers. They say they’re uncontrollable. I wasn’t there but it’s not hard to imagine.

Depending on personal beliefs, faiths, morals, etc..opinions on what Cynthia and others like her did will understandably vary and regardless of where you personally sit on the "it's liberating/it's sordid" scale we have to respect the rights of others. That means not rubbing your choices in other people's faces (no pun intended😅) or judging them for having a different opinion than your own. But at the end of the day one thing she certainly was not is a monster and one thing she certainly did was expose the hypocrisy and double standards in the lives of many so called "respectable" members of society.
Hypocrisies and double standards that still exist today throughout the police force and other "respectable" sectors in society. Those dangerous people are the real monsters and sickos.
Nothing has changed at the end of the day.
