Actually from 1985...Saturday, January 19, 1985, to be exact. (Near the end [28:06], they advertise the movies "THX 1138" and "Zombie's Lake", which aired on TV20 the following Saturday, January 26.
That's William Schallert. You may remember him from _Twilight Zone: The Movie_ where he played Anthony's "dad" in the "It's a Good Life" segment, or maybe from the original _Star Trek_ episode "The Trouble With Tribbles" where he played Nilz Baris. He was a prolific character actor for 60 years in movies and TV.
Yup, good old Jim Harper, who did the morning drive-time radio show Harper & Gannon on WNIC in the early '80s (believe it or not, I've still got some H&G captured on cassette tapes). Seeing that ad for Martial Arts Theater reminds me that Harper's character Charlie Lum might've been a little bit, how should I say it, un-PC. No, it's pretty much racist and would definitely not fly today. Back then, we laughed at stuff that would outrage people nowadays.
Who can forget the lilting tones of Glenn Yarborough? And available on 8-track, no less! I'm sold!
I gotta give it to Glenn Yarborough...for him to make a nickel singing with that voice...he had to be some salesman.
Didn't remember that Dallas was syndicated only half way through its prime time run on CBS. Also Loretta Swit doing a Burger King commercial!
Keep it up!!! Very addicting to see this and other footage of WXON TV20!!! 😉😉😉😉👍👍👍👍
Hope you have more from WXON!
8:23 Skittles candy 1984 commercial. I love eating Skittles candy.
WXON had a different music "theme" in the early 80s but nobody has posted one with it yet.
I miss those days
