Nice video, guy. You especially did well with the technical aspects of photography, sound control, and narration . So many other TH-cam videos are ruined by those kind of shortcomings.

GL5 oil generally shouldn't be used on brass or bronze parts unless the oil specifies as such.

Nice video. I have a question though. I noticed that the original table had an extra hole for a stabilizing bar, in using the 1/4 inch plate did that eliminate the need for the extra support or did you need to add that at a later time? Also, have you made any changes to the table since you have posted this?
    Thanks

Yeah, that stabilizing bar was only needed because the original table was thinner steel and not very rigid. The thickness of the aluminum I chose has proven to be perfect and very rigid. No need for the stabilizer. This old metal bandsaw has been a joy to use and I have found no need for further mods than this.

Someone suggested adding a wire brush that spins on a ball bearing to clean the blade of chips, in the case that i lubricate my blade with a drip coolant system. What do you know about this? I just want to provide some lubricity, but the chips then to stick to the blade sinc ether's so little flow.

can you do a video on how to put on the blade?

Great vid, can I ask what is that spring for you seem to have disconnected on the side.

It provides tension to help hold the upper half in the vertical position and it also acts as a counterbalance when lowering the blade down to make a cut across the lower vise. You can adjust the tension on the spring which allows you to adjust the cutting weight pressure on a piece of metal you might be cutting. This way you can actually cut with hands off the machine. Once the cut completes, then the upper part falls all the way down which trips the little switch and turns of the machine.

does this model have the infamous ridiculously underpowered tiny 250 watt 1/3 HP "dremel motor" lol

Wow an actual Rong Fu branded 4x6 bandsaw. Everyone rags on the cheap sheet metal base these saws have, but I put a crossbar on mine and it seems OK now to me. I have it on a heavy roller base too. The wheels these saws come with are garbage.

+Paul Frederick.... yup... you know there are some tools in your shop that whenever you walk by them, you think to yourself... "Wow, I am totally happy with how well this machine works and there really isn't much I need to change about it, and I don't need to buy a newer better one." That's what I think about this metal bandsaw after the mods.

      *****
I have put a speed jackscrew on mine, along with a shop made movable vise jaw, an outfeed clamp lip, and I made a mini vertical table that is small enough to just stay on the saw. I also made a rolling base for my saw too. But right out of the box these little saws sure do open up whole new vistas when it comes to metalworking.
