    “Like anyone else getting started in a lathe I make bigger offcuts into smaller offcuts so they fit into the bin better.” Classic.

    Liked and subscribed - very nice work on the cart and all of the upgrades. Those little 4x6" bandsaws pay for themselves - and run about forever.. I've had mine 15+ years

    Good Video. I've been looking at one of these to buy but was put off because there was no coolant. Thought I would go to the next size up which has the coolant etc, but its an extra $900. But has everything. I spent lots of time fitting a coolant system to my lathe. (I use a fish tank pump $30) Anyway thanks for your vid. Graham, Bundaberg.

    Nice job, very cool! I like the way you did this, I will have to steal some of your ideas. The tray is beautiful.

    Nice find thanks. Looking at getting one of these but possibly the Total Tools one that has a slightly larger motor for the same price at present. Can you please let me know if it does accurate cuts, that's my main concern. Cheers

    I took a piece of 2x4 cut 3/4 of the way thru flipped it upside down putting the blade in the kerf let the roller guides hold it and it wicks the cutting fluid off the blade dropping it in a much smaller pan that is basically a rectangular food tray a guy could experiment with other stuff maybe a big piece of rubber or something the wood was a 5 minute job

    You have more $$ in the stand vs. the saw, but great build!

    I liked the video. Easy to watch. Have you ever thought about a hydraulic ram to adjust the lowering speed of the head?

      mick fix Do you let the head cut under its own weight or do you hold it as it goes down? I’ve never had any luck finding information on the proper technique.

    Does the cooling line help with the quality of the cut at all, what are the benefits of adding a cooling line. I havent noticed my 4x6 get really hot but I am thinking of adding a cooling line regardless

    • @mickfix8211
      @mickfix8211  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well i think it will make the blade last longer also I cut a lot of stainless steel

    Awesome mate! Just bought the exact same band saw and looking at doing similar mods. How’s the cooling system holding up?
    Would you be able to give me part numbers for the parts used for the cooling system?
    I’m in Aus too, cheers mate!!

      What is the name of the switch you have used?

    • @mickfix8211
      @mickfix8211  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Coolent pump is just a cheap eBay wiper washer bottle and pump running through a 12v wall plug ( hidden in the electrical box ware switch is )with a PWM to control flow and is still working great even with long periods of no use

    I"m thinking I should somehow put a cooling fan on the motor, as it overheats to the point of smoking if not watched.... not sure how I will go about doing it just yet
