    so so many questions.... what's really stopping sydney from telling carmy about the offer? what did carmy really want to say? why does that sauce on the plate look like the scarf sydney is wearing??
    sorry again for the mess, that's me trying to bypass copyright
    Scene is from The Bear Season 3 Episode 9.

      Eh he’s also building people up around him and himself. Being healthy isn’t like a thing you do where you do it and then you’re healthy. Healthy is usually just trying and usually failing at five things and succeeding *maybe* at one thing. and by that ethos they’re all coming along

He’s constantly freaking out about the pace they’re moving at and fighting with the other chefs. Syd is considering leaving The Bear to be the sous chef at a different restaurant because of this. He’s putting Syd through what Chef David put him through, even if he doesn’t realize it.

      @@Keesha_Hardy -- I noticed that, as well. If Carmy does hold repressed romantic feelings for Syd, sadly, it would be best for her to run the other way. At this stage of the story/the character's life, he's far too emotionally damaged to offer anything other than emotional trauma. Syd grew up in a loving and emotionally gentle home; she's not prepared for the sh*t storm Carmy would drop on her head.

    • @blucat016
      @blucat016 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I agree. I see this season as reaching plateau or stagnation in concurrence to both the restaurant’s status and the staff’s. Carmy’s non-negotiables are primarily the cause of their lack of profitability, his refusing to cut down on waste because changing the menu every day is non-negotiable, his refusing to make substitutions despite Richie’s insistence is non-negotiable, his contradictory approach to using more with less while wasting food through R&D is non-negotiable. These are things than can be fixed through one variable, Carmen. I think the Bear will close for good once season 4 begins because Uncle Jimmy is anything but flexible, and nobody should blame him for doing so. I also think Sydney should branch out and work with Shapiro and have Richie tag along, we all know that Richie and Carmy are further apart than ever. I don’t know about Marcus, Tina or the rest of the Bear’s staff, but they were improving through Sydney’s leadership far more than Carmy’s. At some point Carmy needs to figure out how to climb out of the hole he dug up and that there’s more to life than perfection or proving something to nobody.
      And boy, did the Faks contribute nothing relevant to the season or what, well aside from pleading to Claire Bear.

    Guys, this is just a classic Head and Sous relationship. The Head is always some hotshot chef with the world on their shoulders. They're ALL difficult to keep up with, and not always for skill reasons. Carmy is an amazing, talented, and total beast of a chef. Time spent under him is time learning how to reach that level. But he has HUGE flaws that are apparent to everyone. He hyper fixates on details to the detriment of the business. He would rather get a star at any cost than find a rhythm that works for the restaurant. There are other ways to successfully run your restaurant and he chose the hard way. Charlie Trotter changed his menu every day and he fucking died of a stroke at 54. I think Sydney is torn. She has to defend his decisions to the rest of the cooks, and she's probably the one to get most of the prep done to execute this bullshit.
    Yes, she's tempted to accept Chef Adam's offer to become a CDC, but maybe she feels like she's not there yet. Maybe she's not ready to stop learning from Carmy.
    But also maybe she's not sure if she buys into this Marco Pierre White bullshit of pushing cooks to insanity. It's a tough decision to make, IDK what I would do myself.

    Sydney is an interesting character and honestly portrayed but she would be a nightmare to work with. She constantly undermines Carm and pit him into corners. Carm is having a nervous breakdown and she’s not helping. Syd’s idea of helping is sitting on top of Carm’s shoulders whispering into his ear all the things he’s doing wrong.
    Carm’s litterally begging for help and Syd walks away from him. Syd isn’t willing to be a leader and tell him what’s on her mind. If she is so broken that she can’t have a difficult conversation with him because it’s too stressful she’s in the wrong industry. She needs to say “Carm, I’m leaving.” or start working as hard as he is.
    They will probably write away Syd’s failures as a leader in season 4 but watching from the beginning she’s never been anything but the weakest link in that kitchen.
    Why does everyone hate Carmy? Because he’s the only one upholding the standard. Syd signed up for this, to turn around later and say it’s too hard is galling. Syd should be the one upholding the finest standards, instead she’s a wet blanket of insecurity.
