Number three. Really bad dreams. I where. The supervisor always made me so bad. Plus I was making a quarter of my salary. She was a horrible boss and she blamed me for many errors. My son, who was frightened of getting a job. I just said to myself make sure you have food here and I never went back to work again. I had letters from psychiatrist stating that I may be eligible for hospitalization.. I moved to Florida, which I’m not crazy about but it’s a big beautiful apartment and very messy. My son ended up getting a fabulous job in Philadelphia.. Mount Sinai paid me every nickel I was owed.! sometimes you have to just get out of a situation that is killing you. I still miss New York City but, my sister and her husband have been wonderful and helping me get my place in order and my son Anthony cleaned up a whole room. My brother Ronnie has excommunicated from me, which was very very cruel. But you know I’m actually so much happier.. my sister and her husband and my own son Anthony have been like angels. I do not think of my brother anymore, which at first really destroyed me but once Patrice, my sister and her husband Jeff and my son Anthony came to visit, I am happy. I’m no longer in touch with my brother Ronnie.
I've had a few pals who've worked in the restaurant industry, and they've all confirmed that this show is incredibly accurate when it comes to portraying the stressful work environment.
I worked in restaurants and no this is not how it is. You act like the spaz main character and the illegal dishwasher would fuck that pussy up. You can’t act like a spaz in a restaurant and not get fucked up. Every line of this show is FUCK FUCK FUCk… I’m telling you, men don’t let you talk to them like that.
I work in the restaurant and hospitality industry and I'm glad a show like this exists, because of the accurate depiction of what it truly is like in the industry, long hours, sleep deprived, underpaid, little to no social life, possibility of unpaid bills, meeting everyone's expectations, and much, MUCH more. There isn't any instances of how "grandeur" the restaurant business and life is like, it raw and its real. This show should be seen as a way to appreciate the people that work in the industries like this and just say "thank you" to them, much like how someone salutes to a soldier walking down the street. I do this kind of work, because I enjoy seeing the smiles on people faces after having a nice meal from probably a crap day at work.
Omg, that episode in season 2 with the family Christmas was honestly not only the best tv that I've seen in awhile, it was the most accurate depiction of a toxic dysfunctional family that I've ever seen. Jamie Lee Curtis in particular was laying down God tier acting!
My respect for Sydney inversely mirrored my respect for Richie. She devolves into a toxic, condescending problem who can't take responsibility even when she STABS someone. He learns to respect himself, Carmen, the restaurant, and he goes from creating problems to adapting to everyone's fuckups especially Sydney's while she continues to shit talk him
To me there were a number of moments in The Bear that got me more than what was listed. One of them was the scene prior and after the fork throwing incident, it was Carmy and Mike's mom, Donna, cooking Christmas dinner and was asked if she wanted help and didn't accept it, but it then boiled over into Donna snapping at everyone and then proceeded to go into her car and run it right into the house. There are many layers to this that struck me from someone taking care of Christmas dinner, not showing appreciation, not loving one another on a holiday that's meant to bring people together and ultimately ends with someone just thinking "I've had enough" and does something drastic.
Oh wow yeah! THat had me almost throwing up from the tensions, and It brought back too many memories of my childhood. This show is by far one of the best things to come along in a long time!
Fishes should have been number 1. That entire episode was one big stress-fest. Jamie Lee Curtis should have been nominated for an Emmy for best guest actress for that episode.
Absolutely she should have! She is the only actor that I've ever seen who can go from laughing to crying and it looks natural. Normally, at least to me, when an actor does that in a scene, you kinda catch them acting you know?
As a Chef, i can guarantee the dream, nightmares, happen all the time. They become even worse if you ever have a day off. You wake up from panic inducing dreams, to rushing around thinking you have to be at work! It sux!!
@ghostface3655 I think we, as chefs, can agree that we all have ptsd from the printer in the kitchen. What is messed up is that I'm tempted to make that an alarm for me to wake up to because of how not only alarming but makes you alert.
I’ve worked in the hospitality industry since 2016. Believe me when I say, this show is the most accurate portrayal of the industry on screen to date. Nothing like what everything else shows.
Definitely the sequence where Sidney and Marcus quit and everyone was yelling at each other, my dad said that’s had to be one of the most intense scenes he’s ever seen on a show
The dreams/nightmares and The Review episode remind me of my time working at a TV news station. We called the dreams “newsmares” and they often involved trying to get stuff done on time or you have multiple stories to work on and had to get it all done in 30 minutes. As for the chaos of The Review, say your newsroom was a skeleton crew and you had multiple breaking news stories, you were running around calling people trying to get info while still trying to do your daily tasks. And if you didn’t get it all done on time you were told “be better” and that it’s the nature of the beast. Going to use the bathroom was considered your lunch break, and you did the jobs of two people for less than 30k a year. You slept through your Saturdays and spent Sundays dreading having to go into work the next day
I work in a restaurant kitchen, so this show is extremely accurate. I literally had to take kickboxing, yoga, Pilates and meditation classes to deal with job and body stress
In his interview with Jeremy Allen White, Stephen Colbert asked when an episode was going to come out where he didn't end up standing behind his couch and I've never heard a more real analysis of the Bear lmao
I will NEVER understand why this show is considered a comedy It may be the most intense show I have ever seen and sure, I remember a few laughs but over all there are many more fist clenching scenes
Its Gordon Ramsay's ghost presence was there with the actors in the moments and then he just possessed the environment with his energy making them feeling like they were competing in Hell's Kitchen.
It was really stressful in season two when they’re opening night for friends and family, and I felt bad for Carmy having an anxiety attack about the past and with his girlfriend Claire, and it was really hard for him when he broke up with her because he felt like he still stuck in the past and blaming him himself for what happened and also getting a fight with his cousin and realize it was too much
For me it was pretty much every scene with Carmey’s mom in the Fishes episode. His mother reminds me a lot of my own mom (except for the drinking). It was the only time watching tv or a movie where I was actually stressed out.
