Needed pelvic floor PT and had a young woman therapist. Had been diagnosed as late 50s prostatitis but it was pelvic muscular disorder. She totally cured me with trigger release and groin massages and she taught me home exercises. I got an erection several times and once ejaculated during an exam when she touched my prostate. She was totally cool about it and it was fine. I was very lucky to find her.
I have a wonderful female urologist. The first time I visited her she conducted a prostate exam. I didn’t have an embarrassing experience, but I did break the ice very easily and effectively. As she was “rooting around” I told her “I don’t normally do this on a first date.” Afterwards, I told her that she now knows me more intimately than even my wife, and in a much shorter time frame. The laughter I got from her was all we needed to start a great doctor/patient relationship that continues now for about 10 years.
Lol. I had this conversation with my therapist the first session. It broke the ice 16 weeks of therapy I didn’t get a erection but she insured me if I did no big deal . great she did a great job with me. She was fantastic therapist and I’m now 100% back to normal 😀 im blessed to have worked with her!
Erections are a gift, whenever and wherever they happen. There is NO reason for a man to be ashamed of getting sexually aroused, because it's how are bodies are meant to work! I love this video.
Now that I am a lot lot older, I don't worry about it all that much. Also, we are both adults in the room right. So the sight of an erection should not be that much of a concern in a professional setting.
Last time I saw my primary doctor for a "wellness check" she told me I had to stop masturbating. I said "why?" She said "so I can finish examining you."
In my view, the patient should simply accept that this may happen. It's a normal and natural thing. Women may likewise exhibit discernible signs of arousal during certain examinations, massage, and other "hands-on" procedures.
This happened to me but only once when I was twenty when an older female doctor examined my testicles . I was embarrassed and put my hand over my erection and said "I'm sorry I can't help it. She smiled and said " no problem that's normal with young men".
Yes this has in fact happened to me. I have always had a female primary care physician. Like you mentioned in your video, this is very commonplace for some men. It's not anything more than that. I think it's more of a natural occurrence based upon who we are as a species. They always have been extremely professional and thankfully very knowledgeable. I actually prefer female doctors as a man myself. Thanks for posting!
I agree, I prefer having a woman as my primary doctor. I didn't always see it this way. The first time she gave me a complete physical I was scared to death. It was the embarrassment. The gloved finger, Dear God that wasn't nice that first time. She did the exam and acted as if it was the most natural thing in the World. She asked me lots of personal questions about how things were going "down there" because she found and epidemal cyst on my left testicle. She told me it was harmless. She's given me a physical for the last 5 years, and I'm not comfortable letting any other doctor but her examine me now. I think females have more to prove in the medical field, especially in men's health. But when they study and work at it, they're often so much better to deal with.

I tried to be as open and Frank as I could, and then she had another young female enter the exam room before asking me to drop my pants for the physical exam! I was so worried about having an erection it went to the extreme opposite reaction! My penis size, normally 3-5 inches flaccid, was barely visible, and while the young assistant looked on, she examined my testicles and had me shuffle with my pants around my ankles over to the exam table to bend over for a digital rectal exam. I must have turned red in the face, because She began to apologize for what is usually quite painful for me as I groaned in anticipation! I have been diagnosed with BPH for many years and experienced all that goes with that! Afterwards, they both looked embarrassed for me! I thanked her for being gentle and seeming concerned, but I wanted to crawl under a huge rock! I’ve been examined by a female physician before(M.D. and my primary), but she examined me lying on my side facing away from her. She was older and more experienced, and acted very casual and clinical! On my next visit they scheduled me to see her for follow up and turns out I was suffering from a rare urological infection and she prescribed a long course of antibiotics. As I would see her multiple times for test results to follow, I became more comfortable with her and she examined me again for an enlarged testicle. After declining a second painful cystoscopy, and opting for a cat scan instead, the Urologist saw me on my final visit and was rude and dismissive to me, informing me, if I wouldn’t agree to a cystoscopy without anesthesia, he wouldn’t be able to help me or see me further! I’m not sure now if his PA even new about this, and wonder if I can ever return to his practice! She was much more concerned, professional and effective than the jerk she worked for, and now I have to search for another Urologist! Next time, I will look for a female Urologist! I still suffer with chronic prostatitis, BPH and now, erectile disfunction and anxiety! I can only imagine how the Urologist would have attacked me if I had had an erection(usually large) instead! Now I’m even more concerned about it in searching for another female Urologist! But, I’ve had too many aggressive exams from male Urologists, that I am sold on female care and therapy!😏

Thanks Doc. I wish more therapists had your insight. I went to a pelvic floor therapist and she seemed uncomfortable when examining me. I never had a full erection, but the exam did make me semi erect. I was a little confused since I was seeing her for erection, sexual function issues. Keep up the excellent work!!
Good video, I got one when my female doctor gave me an exam down there recently, I was really embarrassed but she didn't react to it or comment even though it was really obvious, I have been thinking about that a lot and been embarrassed but now I am happy to hear that it is a more common thing and it is probably not the only time that happened with her!
I’ve always had a male physician when I was a kid till middle school. Once I’ve moved to a different city. My primary care physician was a woman. It was really embarrassing when I’ve got my first erection while she was checking me. Right in front of my mom. Talk about being traumatized.
It happened to me. I can't lie the Dr was cute but the touching got me it was awkward at first but she was very nice and said it was ok it does happen. I do now communicate to my newer Drs that this has happened. It's always gone well. Great advice 😊
Speaking as a health care professional- Here’s the thing: We really don’t care! We do care if your discomfort interferes with us doing our job. So we care about your feelings in a very pragmatic way. If you’re here for pelvic work or yes a prostate exam, your spinal chord may stimulate an erection. It’s not personal one way or the other.
It's natural for your body to respond .. a professional therapist is no stranger to human responses. Better to be a little embarrassed than ignoring whatever your health issue is.
Thank you for this video, informing us that not only are erections common during exams, but also spontaneous ejaculation. Could you possibly make another video talking about the most appropriate way for a patient and provider to handle an ejaculation or pre-ejac during an exam? Appreciate your input.
When I was 12 a female doctor had me completely undress & said she needed to see how things were going down there. I got semi erect & she didn't shame me & apologized she wasn't a male. Very professional.
I stopped seeing female doctors. The main reason is because in 95% of any exams, Ive had, they bring in another female besides herself, to be a chaperone. Its one thing, that shes a doctor and doing her job, but what is already an awkward situation turns into one that is more embarrassing, with a second set of female eyes on my genitals. That makes the exam unacceptable and uncomfortable to me.
Personally, I wouldn't care; but it is quite a double standard that a male doctor would be sued if he was examining female with the observance of only one male nurse.
It's not double standards cause it's your choice you can say no I'm not going to have it done or you can say I want to be referred to someone else. I got a bladder scope coming up and I asked the doctor at consultation that I was really sensitive in that area and a female would make it worse and I rather not have a female nurse prep me and numb the urethra and he said that's fine if I was not wanting a female he would do it you just got to let them know and they will accomidate every place has a male and female doctor for just that. I told him I didn't want anyone else in the room and he said that's not a problem it just might take a little longer cause not a seconed pair of hands. Always ask if not comfortable and if they got a female or male and if not can they reccomend you to another place.
I agree....I do not want anyone else in the room but me and my doctor unless the other person has a reason to be there such as to assist in a procedure.
Just being honest. I prefer a female doctor ALWAYS but my experience is that female general practitioners and internists rarely check male genitalia during am annual exam. I have told my sons to see a male for this reason. It seems like they fall short of the standard of care simply because they do not feel comfortable and should have considered this before going into primary care medicine.
I agree from my experience . But , I think that’s the case with all GPs I’ve had, male and female . However , I had one exception when I had a physical where the female Dr seemed to go out of her way to see and touch my genitals during a physical although I made no statement that I was having a problem there . I honestly think she just really wanted to see/ touch me . But it’s all good - I didn’t care . I got little stimulation from it . But I know she did it just to see me - but I was much younger then sigh. I’ve had a different woman GP since then for 15 years and she has never seen me there - and seems to go out of her way not to. And I get a physical every year.
I think Suzie should more directly say that an involuntary erection or ejaculation will not result in the ending of the session. The therapist will not, upon the occasion of such involuntary responses, presume that the patient is seeking a sexual, rather than a therapeutic, experience. These acknowledgements would put many men's minds at ease, I think.
One of my consistent symptoms is really intense spams throughout the day and causes erections all the time. Every pelvic session I have erections. I mentioned it prior. It's never been a problem. Matter of fact for certain issues the erection helps with a therapeutic stretch etc.
I had a case of priprism.(erection not going down) female doctors and nurse took care of me. Embarrassing at first but I quickly got over. Doctors knew how to handle things quite well
I’ll be 75 in a few months. Never had/never heard of a Pelvic floor exam by any Dr. Intern, PA, or Nurse practitioner. I have also had total body, head to toe and all in between exams for any type cancer since 2009 after having a melanoma in the center of my back cut out. Since it was a Military teaching hospital, it was always done twice once by the intern/jr resident and once by the old timer doing the teaching. Every single one skipped over my genitals except one very cute young female. I must say she examined every inch of me. One purple spot on my little head, the one that doesn’t think much, after turning twisting it, rubbing it to check for elevation, I finely told her. That’s nothing ma’am, caught it in a zipper when I was a kid. She said, “oh ok then enough of that” then went on about the exam. I was scared to death she was going to say, I think we need to take a biopsy of that and send it to pathology.
Very interesting points and suggestions Dr. I've had several cases, especially when a female physician is examining me while a female chaperone is present..My biggest fear is getting an erection when getting a prostate check up or when a PFT is doing internal work on me
I have the opposite reaction when getting a D.O.T physical. "It" can't be normal size, it looks like a jumped into a cold swimming pool. Why? Nervous? So embarrassing
It's because your nervousness causes a fight or flight reaction in your body during which your body moves all available blood to the essential parts of your body. Basically your penis drys out. Lol
Wow, well if it is a male doctor I really dont think that will happen; however, if it is a female I would think she would find it a compliment. and I won't be embarrassed. If she is embarrassed that is her problem.
thinking like that for you is honestly a little disgusting. Assuming every woman would just automatically think it is a “compliment” whenever her client gets hard isn’t normal 💀 Some woman find it very uncomfortable to be around and not in a good way. Try to think of it that way instead of thinking of it as a compliment
I had a prostatectomy in 2009 but the surgeon was unable to perform the nerve-sparing procedure. I had two aggressive peripheral cancerous cell in my prostate. I still had elevated PSA and underwent 37 radiation treatmenst in June and July 2013, IMRT. The radiation burned my bladder and I was leaking over one gallon a day. I did see a pelvic floor specialist in Septermber 2013. She tested my kegel strength twice and I did not become aroused but I have to admit her hand on me really felt good
Most of my doctors are women and never had a problem with it i suppose since I'm just there for a checkup. But when my wife touches me, that's a different story because I know she means business! Lol!
I will not get a physical exam for that very reason alone. I was never taken to the doctors and I was little at any time for any reason. Actually I was sexually molested by a babysitter and my parents refused to believe that it was true. I can see that i'm a very clear disadvantage. For whatever reason I convince myself that if I should get an erection during a physical, the doctor would think of me as a pervert or a sexual predator like those you prayed upon me. I feel very jealous of those who have no problem in this area and it hurts me terribly. If there is a god I will pray that I will overcome this horrible nightmare.
Yes, a very good bit of advice here. Wish I had seen it 20 years ago. I have an erection every time I am examined in this area. Much more relaxed about it now fortunately.
I just wanted to say that your videos are truly informative, as you are an intelligent women. I’d also like to say that you are one of the most gorgeous women to have ever lived.
I've been getting yearly physical exams for 45 years, and never had what you call, "a session" or a pelvic exam. Does that mean all the docs (almost all female), don't know what they are doing??????????
This happened to me! I thought I might have had a hernia, so I went to emergency room! The female doctor was really hot. So she told me to remove my pants and underwear. By this time I was totally hard! I tried to apologize, but she told me that it happened all the time. She actually said it was fine
all she said during my last exam was that it was a good sign as it meant everything was functioning properly and just . . . kind of . . . left it at that.
to be completely honest,if she doesent have a high body count,it's probably quite entertaining for a young female Doctor, educationally speaking...... lol
I’ve had 3 rounds of pelvic floor therapy with 3 different therapist. 30 visits? I knew going in that erections were going to be routine. My urologist had put me on Cialis to help my prostate which is routine now plus i had been given testosterone pellets! It didn’t help that two of the therapist were knockouts. Omg. I decided to be very transparent about it before the appts and they were very comforting to not worry. In fact, i was asked for one session to take viagra at the beginning of the appt since it takes 45 min to kick in. Believe me i did not have ED but was going to be checked for pyronies. The best way to check for plaque is when you are hard. We just joked about it but was torture! I knew I’d never be able to walk out of the appt in that condition so she just nonchalantly handed me a packet of lubricant snd box of Kleenex and left the room for 5 minutes! It was just st routine. After ruling out pyronies the next therapist used skin rolling techniques to try and stretch the skin that was too tight at the base of the penis. I could only go 45 seconds before i was full blown. Turns out i had placation surgery yo correct what was a congenital condition. It worked out great. But i did have a lot of issues that therapist helped me worked through. Frankly my male doctor was much more uncomfortable talking about any of this but not the women. Go figure.
I got completely over ALL my shyness when I got my first Foley. Besides at 62 anytime a "strange" woman (nurse, doctor or tech) handles my "junk" it's a thrill.
Great question! Check out my video where I explain what a pelvic health exam is with a physical therapist Pelvic floor physical therapy exam for MEN #pelvicfloor #menshealth th-cam.com/video/StVLAJGOGjk/w-d-xo.html
I had a testicular scan when I had a kidney stone and it was done by a woman. I didn't have any issue with that but I was telling my friend about the scan and he said he'd be really concerned about that happening. I just thought it was a very medical, professional, situation so I wasn't really having those thoughts that would normally cause it to happen. I also figured if it does, she's a professional, she probably does stuff like this every day, so it's probably not a big deal.
What's to be embarrassed about? The amount of doctors that have encountered this in their career is beyond comprehension. If they can't handle it doing the specialty that they do then they need to move on to another field. It's not so important what the doctor sees as to what the doctor does with it 🤣
Here the doctors tend to be especially harsh in their visits, I guess in order to avoid this kind of situations. It works, but it's very traumatic, during and afterwards.
I have never had this happen. Perhaps because I am a social nudist and have never seen any nudist get an erection at a nudist resort. I am sure it must happen, but rarely. I don't view going to a health appointment (doctor, nurse, therapist) as being sexual.
Never had one. Only talked to a doctor about anything sexual once i think. 51 and brought up Baptist so we usually don't talk about sex unless we have to.
A couple of years ago I had a groin hernia repaired and when the nurse came in to shave me down in that area I was really nervous I would get an erection. Thankfully I didn't. Though the fact that I have ED probably helped.
Why should a man be embarrassed over an erection any more than a women be embarrassed when her nipples become erect? It's a body reaction that happens and is natural. I would never be concerned if it happened. Americans are too concerned about this situation.
the ONE time i've had such an exam, the lady doc simply flicked it and it went away.... was only 15 or 16 at the time... was never embarrassed about it, and don't even know why i had the exam either...
Happened to me once when I was examined by a female doctor before leaving for my next duty station overseas. She stroked my member saying that she is checking for warts. I was embarrassed but it felt good at the same time since she was pretty. I told my wife about it and she said no more female doctors for me.
I am a male. I recently got a female physician. She did the usual tests, such as blood pressure, reflex, heartbeat. I did not get my private area checked. Now, this will sound weird, but can I ask to have that area checked out by the female physician? And, how would I ask for this?
After this happened to me once, in front of the nurse and chaperone, I got over it pretty quickly. Afterwards, whenever it would happen, I was no longer uncomfortable.
My urologist is a woman. I've not had an erection during any visit with her. I think it would be perfectly normal to get an erection. I think many guys such as myself would be seeing medical professional because we have difficulty. It's the truth.
I had to get a physical each year before the start of football season and one year I procrastinated and had to go to a clinic and not my regular doctor. The female doctor flirted with me and um, shall I say, handled me differently than any other doctor had. She said what she was doing was checking for a healthy response to manual stimulation. It was healthy alright lol
Shes lucky she didn't lose her license for that. Jerking off a patient isn't part of the job and it can get you barred and jailed for harassment even if you liked it she should have known better as a provider and clinician. We don't play like that in medicine and I'm surprised she is still a doctor. Wonder how many other people she has done this too, regardless of the situation this is unprofessional and against the law. Just a perspective from a health care provider that follows the rules and can't risk your whole life education for a moment of weakness, she risked it all and didn't get caught. There are so many laws we have to follow as practicners that would make non-clinicians and medical people's heads spin. Thats why when we have procedures and we ask you to do something it isn't because we want to it is because it is protocol and it is a risk to the patient if it isn't followed. Boards teach us this and when we get our license renewed we have to be checked on stuff like this so we are up to date with our knowledge and practices. Sorry you had this experience this could have gotten out of hand. This makes other providers look bad and people start to think we all do this and we don't.
@Branman345 I sometimes wonder if the clinic was even fully legitimate. It wasn't my regular doctor and because of the time and day I had to go to an area that wasn't exactly a good neighborhood.
Good advice. Patients really need to understand that we know that these things can happen involuntarily from time to time during exams.

"I'm sorry if I do & I'm sorry if I don't" 😃
Wouldnt get a hard with you anyways.you're male.doh.🤪
It's natural for your body to respond .. a professional therapist is no stranger to human responses. Better to be a little embarrassed than ignoring whatever your health issue is.
I told two girls that it happens to me when I wake up that I'm not thinking anything and both of them said it's normal
We don't have to apologize for what our bodies look like, even if one part happen to be filled with blood. It's a normal look for a man.
As long as it doesn’t bother you it won’t bother me
Just being honest.
SS… I’ve found that to be the case myself. But, unfortunately, the men have the bedside manner of a Hippopotamus, in my estimation.
Nice “pillow” at the end of this video! I loved the way you smiled and held it…
I think Suzie should more directly say that an involuntary erection or ejaculation will not result in the ending of the session. The therapist will not, upon the occasion of such involuntary responses, presume that the patient is seeking a sexual, rather than a therapeutic, experience. These acknowledgements would put many men's minds at ease, I think.
Well said, William! Thank you for sharing.
Absolutely! Spot-on, William💯
Involuntary but not non voluntary 😊
What is a pelvic health therapy session???? I'm 77 and never had that done by ANY doctor.
One of my consistent symptoms is really intense spams throughout the day and causes erections all the time. Every pelvic session I have erections. I mentioned it prior. It's never been a problem. Matter of fact for certain issues the erection helps with a therapeutic stretch etc.
It certainly can happen. I’ve found that the more nervous/apprehensive I am that there is far less chance of awkward inflation.
"AWKWARD INFLATION" ... imaginative terminology ... gotta love it ...
I had a case of priprism.(erection not going down) female doctors and nurse took care of me. Embarrassing at first but I quickly got over. Doctors knew how to handle things quite well
What did they do? I heard they squeeze the blood out or something

My female urologist and female GP at the VA are both fantastic. I would not change anything.
If the zipper thing happened in childhood, why was it purple so many years after?
Very interesting points and suggestions Dr.
I've had several cases, especially when a female physician is examining me while a female chaperone is present..My biggest fear is getting an erection when getting a prostate check up or when a PFT is doing internal work on me
I think the Dr should ware a mask during the exam.
I have the opposite reaction when getting a D.O.T physical. "It" can't be normal size, it looks like a jumped into a cold swimming pool. Why? Nervous? So embarrassing
😆 🤣 😂
I would rather have a hard rock erection than a soft flacid.
I hate that
Agreed, always happens when stressed or tensed up, nervous.
It's because your nervousness causes a fight or flight reaction in your body during which your body moves all available blood to the essential parts of your body. Basically your penis drys out. Lol
Why be embarrassed it’s a natural thing each person or persons know this can and will happen
If you have this issue, you should be happy because some guys can't even get theirs up.
Wow, well if it is a male doctor I really dont think that will happen; however, if it is a female I would think she would find it a compliment. and I won't be embarrassed. If she is embarrassed that is her problem.
Indeed !!!
All males get an erecting penis….
thinking like that for you is honestly a little disgusting.
Lol!

@@willfield2567are you kidding, dumb azz.
The past 10 years I have only seen woman Dr's over the past 10 years . None of them checked down there. Is there a reason they don't check down there?
If anything it's something to be proud of, not embarrassed
Thank you for sharing this. It nothing to worry about. It is very normal. And it may be good.
Had to laugh a bit at 1:18 at the irony of her saying 'If your therapist doesn't bring it up' when referring to talking about it in advance.
“Let’s get a couple of things straight”
Thank you for your professionalism. And the advice is on point.
OH! Just let it happen and enjoy ! Its a good sign you can still get it up 🤓
I will not get a physical exam for that very reason alone.
I’ve never had a doctor or therapist I was attracted to . It just doesn’t happen . But I think it does happen for other people .
It’s nothing to do with attraction, purely the physical reaction to touch.
I was actually happy to see it.The nurse did say it does happen. No issues.
Lucky...that's hot!🔥
lmao
She was bragging. Lol
@@bobbywise2313lol. Seriously!
😂😂hope you r doing well
all she said during my last exam was that it was a good sign as it meant everything was functioning properly and just . . . kind of . . . left it at that.
cool Dr............................
to be completely honest,if she doesent have a high body count,it's probably quite entertaining for a young female Doctor, educationally speaking......
Go figure.
This sounds like fun! What symptom should I report to be referred for this therapy?
@John 😂.
I got completely over ALL my shyness when I got my first Foley.
Besides at 62 anytime a "strange" woman (nurse, doctor or tech) handles my "junk" it's a thrill.
"Foley" ... A new one for me ... (I had a friend named Dennis Foley, he was a real dick)
What the hell is a pelvic health check?

If it happens, it happens, No big deal.
Erections happen mainly in younger guys who don't get sex regularly.
You’re right. As long as the professional acts as one, what does her/his genitals have to do wit it?
@@nursetinalouiseIf I were in that position. I'd love for her to help a guy out. 😂
I get the complete opposite when I see a doctor. It shrivels up and gets extra small
been there, done that
Especially if you're there for sore balls 😟
What's to be embarrassed about? The amount of doctors that have encountered this in their career is beyond comprehension. If they can't handle it doing the specialty that they do then they need to move on to another field. It's not so important what the doctor sees as to what the doctor does with it 🤣
Here the doctors tend to be especially harsh in their visits, I guess in order to avoid this kind of situations. It works, but it's very traumatic, during and afterwards.
I wouldn’t get in trouble for getting an erection, right?
I have never had this happen. Perhaps because I am a social nudist and have never seen any nudist get an erection at a nudist resort. I am sure it must happen, but rarely. I don't view going to a health appointment (doctor, nurse, therapist) as being sexual.
Doctor: We need to do a rectal exam.
Patient: Digital?
Doctor: Yeah.
Patient: Uh! Well, better than anal-log.
I did get it, the doctor was so gorgeous, but she was nice about it.😅
Never had one.
Though the fact that I have ED probably helped.
i'd rather be embarrassed and have it WORK.............................
Real 😊@@dwightdodd3734
Why should a man be embarrassed over an erection any more than a women be embarrassed when her nipples become erect? It's a body reaction that happens and is natural. I would never be concerned if it happened. Americans are too concerned about this situation.
What kind of exam are we talking about, here?
Not worried at all. Are you?
We don't need an advertisement before every video so you better just stop it TH-cam
Thankfully it hasn't happened with me, painful injuries and illnesses every time made it unable,
the ONE time i've had such an exam, the lady doc simply flicked it and it went away.... was only 15 or 16 at the time... was never embarrassed about it, and don't even know why i had the exam either...
Not an embarrassment errection. Just shows everything is working well. I mean with a female doctor of course
Not a chance that happens to me. I'm way too scared and nervous at doctor exams. Not a chance
A DPT is not a Dr. nor a Ph.D. and shouldn't go by the moniker of Dr. I see this often.
...."Let's get a couple of things straight here" hahahaha!
Can't wait to make an appointment doctor.
What if I had one for the entire exam?
Dennis Potter covered this problem in "The Singing Detective".
Mostly we have no control down there, it's like our members have a mind of their own!
I dont worry about it. I figure theyre professionals, its what they do. My last nurse actually complimented me for it so....
This never ever happened to me, and it never will. Female doctors and nurses has always been disgusting as hell with me, so I'm always fully scared.
God Bless her naughty little Heart !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@Branman345 I sometimes wonder if the clinic was even fully legitimate. It wasn't my regular doctor and because of the time and day I had to go to an area that wasn't exactly a good neighborhood.
What we have here is, paralysis by analysis .
