It is your mind, control it! So many people feel the need to belong, regardless of what they truly feel, just to say I belong to something. A false identity. The best to You.
This is honestly 100% how i feel. I don't know if there's a god or not, no one really does, and that's okay. Maybe this is kind of off base, but i kinda feel like the real reason why people want to believe there is a god so strongly is because it give them some sort of purpose or hope for the future. Which there's nothing wrong with that, and i totally understand how that could be comforting.
Life is an exploration. Getting hung-up on some specific landscape, brings us a limited and limiting view of the rich diversity of our world. After a feeling of personal satisfaction from our exploration, it is ok if we settle down to pursue an in-depth examination of some particular landscape of our own desire. That endeavor may be self-directed/informal or institutional/formal. Contrary to JW theology, we can affirm 'to each his own'.

Congrats on a strong mind and your freedom. Some of us are Theist and some are not. It is okay not to have all the answers. In time you may decide on a belief or lean towards one and it will be all of your own choosing. Enjoy the research. It is a beautiful ride.
Very mature and honest, glad that you got out of the JW Cult. Just because a group of men said so, it doesn't mean it is so. What will be will be. The creator of this universe and us, has it under control. Enjoy the life you were given. Open doors, explore. I was there once, so I understand.
Deprogramming takes time. I had the blood card in my wallet for years after I escaped. Only relatively recently I've thrown it to the trash after clearing out my wallet. The mental baggage works in a similar way. Once the indoctrination is gone, there is fresh space, and we should very careful with what we fill that space. Personally, I became an agnostic atheist. I try to live a good, moral life, and to do what I can for my fellow humans. I'm not ashamed to say that culturally, I'm Christian. But I treat it like when people ask my Zodiac sign. I don't really think it has much influence over me in a practical manner. Science works a lot better than faith, since it's self correcting and allows for questioning and doubt, re-examination. I am still spiritual, but more in an existential, poetic way. I am grateful to exist and be aware of the universe. I don't need gods or devils to blame anymore.
There is certainly a lot to learn about life. Although I came to see through the teachings of the governing body and realise for example that Revelation was about the destruction of the old covenant temple, it still leaves many blanks to fill in.
i extricated myself from a dysfunctional narcissist-centered family system and i'd say it bore similar criteria to that of a cult. i have a similar outlook to you, but for me i don't think it's liberation, as much as i think it's more a quiet deference to my programming, that i've escaped direct control, but to keep my brain from going completely haywire, i keep the conditioning as a possibility, since it was so ingrained into my psyche
Thank you for sharing. I can relate with being raised in a dysfunctional family that practically operated as a mini cult. There's this idea called "the cult of two," which describes how any relational dynamic is capable of operating as a cult, and it can be so insidious because it's hard to cognitively process what is happening when you are willingly giving up your agency in exchange for acceptance in the "tribe." It is hard to witness now how willing people are to let others tell them what to believe that these people never question any of their beliefs. But I also envy them at times, as I feel life would be a lot easier if I wasn't so aware lol. I understand from this angle why one might keep their conditioning as a possibility, like a mask they can use to assimilate.
Real truth is self evident, and doesn't need to be believed. We're supposed to learn about our environment through observation and testing theories to find proof. Many ideas are plausible but not true. We're like adventurers out to discover if the world has an edge and will our ship go over and fall to somewhere.
I’m from Malaysia i was raised from the Jw family also, but I never get baptised at 18 i stop following my parents going to the Kingdom Hall and the reason i leave just because I can’t fight myself that I’m a sinner.
