im still holding on to my 2015 mbp. Had it serviced in singapore. New battery, new speakers and card slot. Good as new. As for new CPUs with all that throttling, the gains are minimal at best. Check out lenovo carbon x1's on the hackintosh sites. Great keyboard, mil spec drop & spill resistant. Also lighter and will work for 20 years no sweat. Oh yeh & has ports.
Laptops are prone to keyboard issues and always have been. My current 2015 dell, after about 1 or 2 years use, had significant issues registering some key presses. After being unable to fully fix the issue by unclipping keys and cleaning things out, I ordered a replacement keyboard, for not much money. I easily switched the keyboards over, and it has worked perfectly ever since. Simple swap in replacement keyboards is something you can't do on mac books and this is why, when there are issues, they can be product destroying.
Very nice keyboard, unless you like to eat while typing. I usually have lunch in front of my computer, breadcrumbs and even small food particles can get stuck beneath the keys, even my own hair. Right now I'm having troubles with the W key, it's a bit stuck, not completely yet. But I don't really see that as the main issue. Main issue is that it's hard to clean, you can easily break the key notches if you try to detach the key in order to clean it. I had the Macbook Pro 2015, I used to detach most of the keys once in a while when they got dirty, it was straightforward. I've broken a couple of butterfly keys while trying to clean them up.

I can’t believe you actually got butterflies for this video lol.
4:06 me to my superbowl party only ordering pizza
That was absolutely awesome, got to know a lot about butterfly mechanism, well I actually like the butterfly keys, they are extremely stable, clicky, and silent. I had the same issue with E key and R key on MacBook Air.
I don't know who put this video together, but this is really well done, and the lady in the video is incredible. Fantastic job, here.
Using my 2014 MacBook Pro and I want to upgrade but I refuse to buy one of the current models because of the keyboard... Absolutely no reason a 1300+ laptop should have problems with TYPING. If Apple doesn’t fix it soon I might have to get a windows.
Those Retina MBP's are worth gold right now on the used market... People want a machine with ports and are snapping them up. Just keep the OS up to date and you'll be good for years.
RumbleRish good decision
Just get a Windows based laptop. Can always install a MacOS virtual machine and with current Intel processors it runs buttery smooth. Or just plain use Windows 10, it's actually a pretty nice experience.
im still holding on to my 2015 mbp.
@@ChuyGl89 mac os on VM doesn't feel smooth. Lacks blur effects.
Agreed, haven't updated my 2013 MacBook pro due to the new keyboard alone, keyboard still works great!
You forgot to credit the butterfly
Am I the only who likes this keyboard as it allows me type quickly ?
Same here. Best keyboard I’ve ever used.
I love the butterfly keyboard, as well. I hate travel-love the clean look etc. When ever I use PC it's such a hard thing to type and my job (Design and programming) requires typing all day and it's like I forgot how to type using mechanical keyboards.
@@mariananelson9212 you are a small group of users that likes this keyboard. That’s good, but Apple transitioned their entire lineup back to an amazing keyboard. Good riddance to the worst keyboard on the planet.
Well done! The ending was hysterical lol
That butterfly carried enough dust to wreck that Butterfly keyboard.
Number 4 was the most sensible suggestion. Thanks.
lenovo x1 has the best keyboard for a slim-form-factor high performance laptop.
I actually LOVE the butterfly keyboard. I've had no issues whatsoever with mine. It feels amazing to type on it. Where do y'all work with your laptops to have debris going under the keyboard? It's designed to work on a desk people, a clean one lol.
I just can't believe they got rid of this amazing keyboard design. I'm keeping my 2018 MBP just for that.
i hate how it feels, but the breaking/sticky keys was astounding. as someone who still has and is using the macbook pro 2017, i’ve never had problems with the keyboard. i’m guessing people use their macbooks as plates, lol.
Hello, how is going on with the keyboard?
Oh boi... Laptops ARE for OURDOOR, especially ones like Air. Why couldn't I just use PC if a CLEAN desk is compulsory for the device to work? Plus it's cheaper and would have a much better keyboard.
switched to Lenovo X1 Extreme, been happy with that keyboard ^^
Quick story: when I saw a bread crumb on the keyboard of my 2017 MBP, I was like, “ NOPE, NOT HAPPENING TODAY.” Then I swiped it off with my finger. Now I have a keyboard cover.
PS: the only way to be invulnerable to this devilish keyboard mechanism is to, well, buy a key cover
Great job filming with the butterfly
the music is just wonderful! even only for this reason the video deserves a 5 star
Am i the only one who loves the butterfly keyboard
MacBooks are temporary
Dust are eternal
Fun + well informed is the best combo :D
Thhattttt wass aa helpppful overview!
Written on my MacBook Pro
everybody at Apple who was involved in the creation of this abysmal keyboard, and the totally useless TouchBar, should be fired at least
Ouch didn't realize the keys were that bad. Glad they started using scissor switches again.
3:42 that ain't a surface book. That's the surface laptop 2. But yes, you should buy one.
But windows is toxic and care about my sanity
This is such a good news video. So detailed, so much explanation. I love it. Its also very simple.
am i the only one that actually likes them ? 🤷♀️️️🤷♀️
yep, that's why the new macbooks have the scissor mechanism back
Top notch
Oh, and you can't use that macbook stand neither. Opening the lid more than 90 degrees can trigger the flex gate.
you are using macbook wrong, no one needs to open their macbook past 90 angle
that at least was fixed in recent models with a longer cable
@@ProckerDark - Steve Jobs(if he was still alive)
It it just me because I love the newer generation butterfly keyboards. I barely have problems with my Mac, but only tend to occasionally flip it over to remove crumbs and dust. (Macbook Pro 2019 User)
I guess it’s just me who loves the keyboard 😮😂🤷🏽♀️
Thank you so much for this video! I have a "vintage" MacBook Pro that's doing great, so I'm safe. But I work with a bunch of people with this problem, and now we can explain what's going on! Much appreciated.
Same the old macbooks are so good lol
Sponsored by Microsoft?
Seriously though I love surface laptop... served me so well and it's very portable.
i really like the butterfly keyboard. obviously, without any of the problems that came with it, it's actually really nice to type on. each to their own.
The into...
Beautiful 🦋
Am I the only person ever to actually like the butterfly keyboard? I've never had a problem with the keys and I personally enjoy typing on it over my magic keyboard.
You had 3rd gen or 4th gen butterfly keys?
2018 MacBook Pro 15 inch
@@CaptainShorif cool man I'm scared my 4th gen butterfly keyboard will die
4:00 watching that moment when you realized she just had laptop keyboard malfunction.
i gotta say i love your video style. It's different from the mainstream tech videos
switched from mac to a dell xps 15. never looked back.
Still got it?
@@quinxx12 haha nope got a Desktop PC and a new Macbook air M1. The motherboard on the XPS fried.
Now the butterfly keyboard is dead and thankfully put to rest
My fingers are now happy with my Lenovo X1 Carbon keyboard. Was with Mac for 5 years, and they lost me as a customer.
Nicely put narrative, thanks for this comprehensive explanation on mac keyboard issue
3:57 the butterfly keyboard needs to make like a butterfly and fly fly away?
Weird flex but okay ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I have butterfly keyboard and those issues were very short term for me. After one year and now my macbook is 7 years I've never experienced these problems again. I was very surprised by the sentiment against it. It's very comfortable for me to type with now.
