    TH-cam made me go through about 15 steps to get from your part 2 DIY compound bowstring to number one. YT gladly skipped it and tried forcing me to not start from the beginning.

    Thank you very much for these 4 videos; to make my own strings is something I allways wanted to do. You explain, detailed, every single step of your process; just wat I was needing.
    There´s a question about your jig I want to ask you: The Automan´s El-Cheap-O original jig has a couple of plates between every two angle brackets, but you don´t use them in your jig. I guess those plates are just there for seting everything a little higher. Have you notice any inconvenient not having those plates in your jig?. How high are your angle brackets?.
    Thank you from Spain.

    Hello friend I am a follower of yours on TH-cam for the making of the strings with Pound in one of your videos I saw that you publish a formula for the calculation of turns at a later date add a fixed factor of 0.012 what corresponds to? Can you explain it to me? Thank you so much top

    • @SomewhereInWisconsin
      @SomewhereInWisconsin  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Number of twists x .012 + your finished length = your final string length.
      The formula takes into considerarion how many twists are needed in the final stages to have the finished length correct. Some people do adjust that .012 number slightly for longer strings.

    I was interested in this video series for making bowstrings, but then I realized the sheer price of trying to get decent jig, that can hold up to a 60 inch string, with a stretcher able to be added without breaking the bank. I mean, 500 bucks for the BCY Yellowstone jig??!?! and you still need the stretcher?!?!? Just don't even get me started. You did good with the video series, I just think that the initial price of a jig and stretcher is insane. I looked at Lancaster Archery Supplies and the 3 rivers archer page. the only stuff I could use with a stretcher that I know of is using the expensive 500 dollar BCY Yellowstone jig, I also don't even know if I could have some room for that! Keep in mind, I'm 13, I don't have a job, I don't buy my archery equipment, I am sure my mother is not happy making a 500 dollar purchase after so much was already spent on my bow setup...........

    • @SomewhereInWisconsin
      @SomewhereInWisconsin  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nicholas! Thanks for watching. I built this jig and stretcher for less than $75! Check out the links under the video. They have some great tutorials on building this jig and string building! You can build this jig and your first set of strings for the same price as a new string from a dealer!

      @@SomewhereInWisconsin If I build more than one string, can it eventually get "wear and tear" If I don't use it? For example, if I make the archery talk jig(s) and I make 3 strings. Are the other 2 strings going to be useless by the time the year ends and I need the string replaced?

    • @renatugaming5730
      @renatugaming5730 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SomewhereInWisconsin Also, I would need a bow press...so I don't know how the price would work out there considering that Lancaster Archery Supply is usually at the more expensive end of the price range for gear when comparing some products to MSRP....

    how long does it take to build a set? I ask because I paid a producer to make me one and he postponed it for a month. I'm just trying to figure out what's going on without constantly asking him. it is normal to wait like this?

    • @SomewhereInWisconsin
      @SomewhereInWisconsin  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Probably depends on how busy he is. Incan build a set in a a couple days, but if I had a stretcher separate from my jig I could do it in a day or so.

    sir i am trying to make string.But my peep site is spinning.what shall i do?

    • @SomewhereInWisconsin
      @SomewhereInWisconsin  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Two things could have happened. One, when you served your string you served the wrong way, which causes the string to twist funny under the serving and case the peep to rotate.
      Two, you may just need to add a twist or two to the bottom of the string to rotate the peep a bit.
      I'd try option 2, before reserving your string.
