      You make a good point. BUT, how many species have we destroyed by accident, on our way somewhere else, to either enslave or conquer other lands/people, to find new sources of energy/supplies for commerce or, in history, workers?! Then too, aliens capable of travelling here from another galaxy, would probably be able to at least check to see if they might be killed, just by breathing our atmosphere. We could have no idea what an alien would want here, just as aliens might have no idea what we'd want on their planet! One thing for sure, unless they have technology that makes ours look like something from the stone ages, we'd have to give it to them, because, if they're from another galaxy, they can, presumably, just take something we have if they want it! They've proven it, by doing something we can't, getting to another galaxy inside a lifetime.

    I haven’t listened through all the way yet but I’ve always quietly thought of this subject. If aliens had the tech to come here for our resources and they wanted us out of the way they could just divert a few large asteroids from our belt and drop them on earth. That wouldn’t kill the earth but it would wipe all humans off of it.

    • @MrMegaMetroid
      @MrMegaMetroid 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Or they just take those same asteroids and mine them for Ressources. And set up camp on europa, which has more water than earth. Or venus which has more of other chemical compounds. Or the moon which has more oxigen, believe it or not. There is not a single reason to come here for, that you couldnt find more of anywhere else. Without having to fight for it

    • @brandonsavitski
      @brandonsavitski 5 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      I don't think we've been overlooked. I think alien technology is just that much superior to ours that we truly can't comprehend on a human level. They're probably already here or come and go observing us as they please but we just can't see them. The materials they have can probably bend light / refract light to the point where it makes them invisible to us similar to a cloaking device. The speed at which they can travel probably also plays a factor. Just my opinion.

Our DNA is often sold to other species to clone new workers, soldiers or slaves of every variety as well ..

    Naturally, if there is a race advanced enough to reach us, they would not have any desire to destroy and will not require anything from us or our planet simply because they are likely way more advanced than us already if they are able to reach us. They would simply desire knowledge of our culture. Hopefully...
    I do also believe that there is intelligent life, but it may be just out of our range. The radio signals we send out into space may be just barely shy of reaching someone who is listening.

      There is much more low hanging fruit out there.

    I agree with all the reasons but one: other civilizations wouldn't see us the same way we see ants, because we know ants have been doing pretty much the same thing for millions of years, but aliens would know we are rapidly evolving in how many we are, what we can do and how we transform our own planet and even other celestial bodies. If anything, we are definitely a very interesting subject of study for alien civilizations.
    PS: Great video!

    • @garethhanby
      @garethhanby 6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I agree. Also, the fact that we now try to cure the weak rather than let them die off pretty much has eradicated natural selection from the human process. It is reasonable to suggest that aliens would also have reached a point where they have also eradicated natural evolution and so may differ in intelligence very little from ourselves. Artificial evolution by genetic manipulation (dare I say intelligent design) is a possibility. Personally I think when we meet aliens it will be our machines meeting their machines and comparing relative histories of their once organic creators.

    • @Amehdion
      @Amehdion 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      "If anything, we are definitely a very interesting subject of study for alien civilizations." You are ascribing characteristics to something completely alien based on what you think as a human would be interesting. To be fair, we might be completely and utterly boring to an alien civilization. Also, you seem to be forgetting about the extreme distances that may be involved. An alien civilization that is more than 100 light years away may not even know humans have had an industrial revolution much less achieved anything they would deem interesting. Technology advances so quickly that by the time aliens noticed we were space fairing, we might be there in our own star ships knocking on their front door.

    The only reason they might invade is if they were migrating. Say their planet was destroyed, so they packed up everything they could into their ships, scanned a bunch of distant stars for possible life supporting planets, picked one and then turned up here. By the time they got here and found that the planet was inhabited they might not be in the mood for starting their search all over again and just go all or nothing and invade.

Nous nous sommes développés durant leur voyage. Aliens in science fiction have no rivals, aliens in science fiction have useless advanced technology, aliens in science fiction waste their time invading humans. If aliens have advance technology and they have no rivals than they have to have a seriously good reason for traveling billions of light years to reach earth, clearly not resources, earth must be special. Only good reasons would be aliens who must think earth is special why else go there? advance technology needs oppositional technology to exist, Rome never built nukes because nobody else was trying to build them, technology needs technology, having an army means other armies exist yet in science fiction the aliens always have no enemies which is just illogical, no enemies means no need for army which means no point invading earth. Aliens wold have to invade for security reasons, maybe they fear that humans may grow to be a great and powerful threat to the galaxy, the fear army be based on a galactic war they fought losing millions of planets in the process or they are just waiting for humans to gain more power in the galaxy.
