For those who are too young to remember, back in the REALLY old days, beer joint jukeboxes were made by Wurlizter. The singer (Waylon originally on the "Waylon & Willie" album) is saying he should receive the "Wurlitzer Prize" for pumping so many quarters into the slot of the jukebox in order to hear his and his lost lady's "song", ostensibly while crying in his beer at the bar. OBTW, Wurlizter also used to make electric pianos... Norah plays one on "What Am I To You".
Thanks so much for the history lesson. Wurlitzer also made some really nice theater organs with the Leslie speakers and all. Sooo many memories of music in the making!
This is one of my favorite songs ever and I just cried watching this duet. I guess because I just put myself in Willie's place, knowing he's thinking about his good friend Waylon and all the good days they shared together...it makes me think about all my close friends.
"I don't wanna get over you..." I didn't have much choice. You know I went back on the day like I said I would, right up until they tore the place down. I always hoped you'd show. I still drink that same thing you insisted on bringing me...
I once had a conversation with the retired band director of The Grande Ol Oprey. He knew all the greats over his decades tenure. He said his all time favorite person was Willie. Also, Norah, I love you dear.
On 4/26/2021, this song -- "I Don't Want to Get Over you" -- renewed a decades long on-again-off-again ♥ relationship of mine - thank you! Lyrics (Waylon + Norah & Willie): I'm not here to forget you, I'm here to recall, the things we used to say and do; I don't wanna get over you, I don't wanna get over you I haunt the same places we used to go, Alone at a table for two; I don't wanna get over you, I don't wanna get over you They oughtta give me the Wurlitzer Prize, For all the silver I let slide down the slot, Playin' those songs sung blue, That help me remember you I don't wanna get over you A fresh roll o' quarters, same old songs, Missin' you through and through; I don't wanna get over you, I don't wanna get over you They oughtta give me the Wurlitzer Prize, For all the silver I let slide down the slot, Playin' those songs sung blue, They help me remember you 'Cause I don't wanna get over you; I don't wanna get over you, I don't wanna get over you
Norah's singing with the greats such as willie ,cash, kristoferson and such places her on a pedastal I have to admire .as it crosses genre's and generations
Beautiful, just plain beautiful, she's looking at Willie like a daughter looks at her father, and he's got to be thinking God this girl's good, either way it's pure admiration from both sides.
They are so good together. . THey have a way of just being so light on the notes a really rare quality. . . and they both know how to sing behind the beat. . . just an uncanny combination. . . Could listen to this all day long.
Thanks dynocounter this is a terrific song. I've tried to pick out a favorite song of Willie's repertoire and so far I've narrowed it down to 75 or so songs..............It seems to be unending task.
very talented but humble , absolutely beautiful and a smile that they could write songs about. thats Nora Jones and Willie has done it all written so many songs that made others famous. what a duo
This one is Waylons. I caught this with Norah and it sent chills down my spine.......................... God, I would die and go to heaven to sit with her and listen to her play and that angels voice...Gheez.. Knocks me to my knees!
@IamForeverCountry Oi . . . hands off . . . I saw her first, mate! LOL Mate, so am I and it only took me one song!!!!!!!!!! Have a look at my playlist man. Until an hour ago, I didn't even know who the fuck she was. Fair dinkum mate, it is a fucking masterpiece!
i disagree... i think she's incredibly confident - it's just her manner... she keeps an eye on the keyboard to make sure of where she is... she does have a bit of a shy character, but this is not the playing of someone inexperienced!! i think this is a remarkable recording, all around... great stuff. very touching.
So you can't have a mellow and silky voice to be a great singer?? I guess it all depends on what your definition of a great singer is. Is Alex Rose great? or is Dolly Parton great? what about Johnny Cash? see where I'm going, I believe greatness is measured in the ear of the listener.
@bullockphoto Don't forget,Elvis sang "My Way" while reading the lyrics because it was the first time he sang it. How many times did Norah Jones play this before going onstage with Willie to perform for real? No matter, she knocked that sucker out of the park.
I printed a retraction of my posting..I'd never heard of Norah before and didn't realise that Willie is difficult to sing harmony with..she has to watch him like a hawk..(I did mention falling on my sword)...Norah has gained an adoring fan...wonderful....sorry Norah...from England.
I'd disagree as well, look at some of her other songs doing duets, she often looks at the other singer like that, think it's very effective, certainly not inexperience or unsure of herself. Very emotional and another great performance.
Nora's beautiful eyes, and amazingly she doesn't have to put on two-inch-thick eye shadow, false eyelashes and heavy eyeliner, such as, oh, Carrie Underwood. Just a natural talent and natural beauty. Beautiful music.
Listen to the harmonica in the background...wonderful....Ray charles asked Willie how he got that sound and was told..'We put it through the lesley speaker'...said Ray...'Sneaky....I always wondered how you guys did that'
Look at this video, then look at the video of Norah and Keith Richards singing and you will understand the difference in a gentleman and a creep just by looking at Norah's face in both vids

Two of the most unique artists in the world together. It don't get any better than this. Unblievable talents.
I hope Willie lives forever
Wow that hug in the end with Willie closing his eyes feels really warm.
"I don't wanna get over you..."
I didn't have much choice.
You know I went back on the day like I said I would, right up until they tore the place down. I always hoped you'd show. I still drink that same thing you insisted on bringing me...
Texas hearts and smiling eyes... warm, and deeply admired.
The look in both Norah and Willie's eyes at the end leaves me breathless...
This is a musical masterpiece!

As a widow ,I love this duet! More so because my mother worked at Wurlitzers back in the 20's!!
Norah's singing with the greats such as willie ,cash, kristoferson and such places her on a pedastal I have to admire .as it crosses genre's and generations

Her smile just melts me down - awesome!!!
Every time I come across this girl she's raised her game. It's hard to keep up. Go, Norah, Go! "Norah, Norah, Norah," as they almost said.

@dynocounter
This is a Waylon Jennings song
Ohhhh start to crying 'CAUSE both my fevorite artist showed....i love them...
The symbol in the background would work well for a dystopian fascist society run by a Willie Nelson clone in the year 2122.
What is the title of this beautiful song?

Willie Nelson is the MAN
She has a beautiful voice. Nice. Thanks for that.
You can see the love and respect every time she looks at Willie. I have seen this on several videos with Willie. That's cool.
@innerbanks he he,,, i dont blame him,,, :) i would be in love with her right away,,, what a voice and a pretty woman,, she got it all
i disagree... i think she's incredibly confident - it's just her manner... she keeps an eye on the keyboard to make sure of where she is... she does have a bit of a shy character, but this is not the playing of someone inexperienced!! i think this is a remarkable recording, all around... great stuff. very touching.
What can you say about these two that hasnt already being said. Happy Birthday Willie, from Doug & Brenda.

This song/tune can be played in the key of “Eb” on your harmonica… to follow along with this song.
norah has always showed great talent love her
Love Norah, Love Willie too, great combo
Norah Jones was the best Willie Nelson couldn’t handle your voice that she is the best by far 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Amen to that jessilu....love Willie!!!
No ravi shnkar is an Indian musician and composer who plays the plucked string instrument sitar. He was friends with the Beatles in the 60s. Cat Stevens became Yusuf Islam.
He’s a difficult person to duet with because he tends to deviate from the score quite a lot
Rodriguez Ruth Smith Michael Martin Kimberly
She knocked this cover out of the park but she doesn't look like she's ever ducked a beer bottle in her life. Can't hold that against her though.
He's singing with the best, I guess they both are
This right here is music, real authentic soul touching music!
Norah Jones can sing any song and make it her own, but nobody wants to try and harmonize with Willie. His timing is brutal. LOL
Their souls have met before "
OMG that smile at 1:21...
A great job by two great artists👏👏👍👍❤️❤️
I think I am in love with Norah
Marvelous! And sings very well!
Although good, they leave out a critical chord during the verses. Criminal in my opinion. Learn the damn song.
Beauty in motion!!!!!!!
a sultry woman with a sultry voice; dont get much better than that! unless she is singing a great song.
Magnífico!!!
Willie Nelson and Norah Jones, The Wurlitzer Prize.
The mentor and his student. What beautiful music they make...
Ugly girls who can sing are still sexy.
Norah is not ugly. She is HOT.
And boy can she sing.
Music is God's way of saying he lov's us, and this is a little not saying the same thing
