I remember my first E i thought i was the best dancer on earth and wondered how i didnt relise i had this great talent for dancin then watched myself on video when i come down i looked like i was doind the funky chicken for 8 hours
Verzrari hmmmm no... there's never been more electro festivals around the world, and once you're at them, if it's a real one, you won't see many people looking at their phones. It's always up to you to have fun
No one is texting, no one is updating their status, no one is taking selfies, everyone is doing just one thing and one thing only - they're dancing and they're having fun. A lost art. Never to be repeated.
what amazing years of music we had in the 89 when we had the hot summer of 89 and the tory party was in power and the rich people was get well rich poor because tory power and the work case people was get so poor there was to much of commercial pop like jason and kilye in the chart at the time then a underground scene thing call acid house where load of people would goto and dance all night to this amaazing tune thank you to bring all amazing tune that was the 89 i was 21 year olds
Great and take me back to 1989 now............please just for one night to experience the love, the happiness, the being one, everybody REALLY having a good time.
This is still happening. The music and fashion may have changed a little, but there's still hundreds of people losing themselves, loving the music, loving each other and losing all social barriers and inhibitions.
i found myself dancing.... im the guy with short hair and blue t shirt at 4.00 to 4.07.. and i see my friend nicky... i remember so many faces in that clip... what a rave..
Now this was where it was at... no violence, no beer, no aggro, loved up, "happy as larry with lost it lil". Let's go full circle and bring it all back again.
the truth right there !! hardcore started to wane in 1992 as it got 'happier' & more drum & bass orientated bollox . I ventured over to garage predominantly as 1992 kicked in
One of the best days of my life, remember the girl in the clip with the red jumpsuit on & blonde hair tied up in a pineapple, sure her name was Clare? Anyone remember the cars catching fire?! E's were sooooo good then, you can see it in everyone's faces. Wish I could go back. SIN @ the Astoria on a Saturday night 😊
Thanks to who uploaded this video! Now I learned more about the rise of rave culture in the 1980s! :D I wish I could have been there, it could have been fun for me to dance in that huge space without giving a shit of worries. And to those who were there on that day: Thank you for changing the course of history and making acid house music the way it is today! Thanks to all! :)
Also I would like to mention that even though the people in the UK made rave culture popular, it was us Americans who created that genre of electronic music you all know and love today. (Not that I'm blaming you for anything.) Anyways, keep on jammin to your acid house music and remember the day that you made history! :)
Hey Mark, I'm currently creating a Short Documentary on rave culture in the UK, do you have any videos or photographs of yourself or others at raves back in the day?
For those asking where this was it'was the Sunrise, Midsummer Night Dream Saturday 24th June 1989 at White Waltham Airfield nr Maidenhead Berkshire and the second venue was the Panasonic building outside of Slough Berkshire - love n peace to all who remember x
being there was the most amazing times . we where so lucky. Valbonnes, The Lord Nelson. Well make you dance, Pleasure Zone, I missed panasonic. i went to atmosphere in london instead and i was gutted
Brilliant times No posing just dress like you want and dance and POP a dove and awayyyy I was 25 and had the times of my life wish there was a time machine invented would be better than a i pad anyone wanna come on board?
Yeah I was there remember when the old bill turned up music went off then boom music came on old bill started dancing, was a set up but was funny to see
i was 15 back in 89 so bit young to go the raves so we would hire our local youth club and have are own raves, all off are head on acid and speed.good times
Anyone who wants to make a big thing about racism and inequality should watch this video, and bearing in mind the 80s and 90s were the days of C18, BNP and NF and raves brought people of every race, class , colour , gender (or lack of) , sexual orientation, rich , poor , basically anyone and everyone , together to dance until the petrol ran out or the old bill started swingin their truncheons... we could learn a lot from this history of great Great Britain right now... Dance will always cross all barriers. Rise up and rave together, peace, love , and unity always ❤
+Hexxor Row Nice one,so I have my original records of or on vinyl....yeah it was really a great time. Can I ask you which year you was born?I was born in the early 70s and sorry for my worst english;-))))
+Hexxor Row That is right ,oh in the late 90s,when???And I am sad that I was a little child in the 70s and the music was awesome and the Stars too,I love the 70s,80s and the beginning of the 90s;-)
@chopseee The good stuff is coming back mate! Ya just need to know where to look. I'm 27 and missed all this the first time round and am discovering all this amazing music and drugs now. Took my first proper E's last year at a band called The Music's Last Dance farewell tour in London and leeds. They're a kinda Rock fused with Dance band and now they've gone i felt i had two choices; i could a) Settle down, kick up my feet on the sofa and sink into a quiet, content life comforted by the.....
as a 1st generation underground dance music and rave attendee here in Los Angeles I can say that it's different - but there are still great underground house and techno events in downtown warehouses - where lots of people still get down - proper events - alive and kicking in L.A. :)
These clips are ALL 'Energy' organisation raves- 0.00-0.07 was 'The Energy Summer festival' 26/8/89 held in a field in Effingham, Surrey/ 0.10- 5.03 was 'Dance 89' 23/9/89 held in a venue in Ipswich which didn't start till the Sunday morning as the original venue was busted the night before. 5.10-end was 'Energy part II 8/7/89 which was originally scheduled for 1/7/89 but was busted. None of these clips are Sunrise raves.
was at all these parties. and the energy part 11 party I remember travelling around for what seemed like days until it actually kicked of. if I remember rightly the old bill tried to stop it on the Sunday but people weren't having it a just turned the police cars over and run the old bill off
That's amazing how people could be happy without cell phones and internet, they just go out and used their time having fun, dancing and everthing. Good times...
god this is early, look at an entire nation realising they always could dance they just needed a prod in the right direction, all the saturday night fightin stopped too!! for me ecstacy opened a few doors in my head that will never ever be shut again, i danced for a solid yr and a half religiously at times then i moved on, not a drug addict or a drop out just seemed to fade away, took an E about 3 yrs ago nd it was shite! kids are doing 10 a night! back then only needed 1 but took 2 like a pig.
I think some of this is making a little come back. I can't imagine what it was like back then but I know there is a small low-key scale of people who want a good rave, all love. I think with all the anxieties of modern life and the restrictions to what people can do, people are a little bit more careful. But I have had a taster of what it might of been like and my sister who was there through the 90's was with me and couldn't believe it was possible. The difference is this time we won't share our secret with the ones who want to bring us down, I guess it's a price we have to pay...
VERY GOOD AFTERNOON MY DEAREST BEAUTIFUL FRIENDS & FAMILY WOOHOO LETS GO !!! HELL YEAH FANTASTIC RAVE MUSIC PARTY ENERGY VIDEO UPLOAD GREAT SUPERRR DOOPERRR THANKYOU MY DEAR LOVELY FRIEND phatmedia HOT BANGER BOOM BOOM SENDING SMILES MY LOVE & LIGHT BLESSED UP NAMASTE FROM ENGLAND BRAVOOO XD WOAH MUAH XXXXXXX
Going to the warehouse project in manchester tonight. But I know despite the amazing line-up, it won't be anything close to this. Too many people posing instead of dancing, luckily there are still some who like a good rave. As I'm in my early twenties, it's the closest I can get to something like this. Long live house!
I found that out later. I was actually thinking of the dangerous chemical PMA (para-Methoxyamphetamine) that sometimes gets mixed with MDMA in some Ecstasy tablets (due to the nature of the black market). MDMA is the bit you want, sorry for the misinformation.
This was to my recollection raves at White Waltham Berkshire (Sunrise) 6/89 - Longwick Buckinghamshire (Sunrise) 8/89 - Elstree Hertfordshire (Biology) 6/89
can anyone remind me what that track is that plays very briefly for like the first 8 seconds of the video? Absolutely love it but can't track down the name/who made it
No way!!! Give me a frickin time machine....this is why physicists need to sort their shit out and get the delorian and the flux capitor working...I want to go back #yadude77!!

God damn you guys had so much fun, my generation are too busy trying to get likes on Facebook.
Verzrari hmmmm no... there's never been more electro festivals around the world, and once you're at them, if it's a real one, you won't see many people looking at their phones. It's always up to you to have fun

Bore off
videobuoy buoy I'm 28 and wish I'd been old enough to attend one of these. It's always appealed to me and the modern club scene just isn't the same :(
Clarissa McPigeon go to edc or nocturnal or beyond man all raves are there just if ur willing to go and rave with us man :)
dylan rodrigues lol edc isn't a rave man, it's a commercialised festival
Clarissa McPigeon where are you from? Here in London there is a big illegal warehouse scene
seeing all of these people dancing is so beautiful I wish it was like this today.
why can't I hear people screaming on the background?
Thank you. I tell my children all about this, they don’t understand. But I do. Best time Ever!!
what amazing years of music we had in the 89 when we had the hot summer of 89 and the tory party was in power and the rich people was get well rich poor because tory power and the work case people was get so poor there was to much of commercial pop like jason and kilye in the chart at the time then a underground scene thing call acid house where load of people would goto and dance all night to this amaazing tune thank you to bring all amazing tune that was the 89 i was 21 year olds

The rave songs peaked in quality around 1991-1992, but even back in 1989 were awesome.
the truth right there !! hardcore started to wane in 1992 as it got 'happier' & more drum & bass orientated bollox . I ventured over to garage predominantly as 1992 kicked in

early 87 the pills where madly powerful. within a few years they got shit and the raving changed because the drugs changed
fuck off they were the tits.
You mean wankers got greedy.
Song @0:10 is " Street Tuff" by Double Trouble & Rebel MC. A dancefloor slammer!
Nothing like this will ever be re-lived, people these days are too focused on their image and being 'cool'
If only i was born a earlier!

That's a true raver too... Mixed crowds, mixed clothes...
Holy shit music has changed!
