I saw someone installing primer valves at the cold side angle stop and it’s 10 feet away from the floor drain. It looks like it’s against UPC code from what I looked. I saw that it shouldn’t be installed over 30 inches away from the center of the floor drain or be installed at least 12 inches above it. Am I right?
The 695-01 does not have an anti-backflow device nor spring check valve. The 695-01 has an integral vacuum breaker that aids in releasing water into the trap line to fill drain trap. If the drain is clogged, and the 695-01 is activated to the point that the gravity trap line is filled, then the water will exit out through the integral vacuum breaker. Once the trap line is filled, if the 695-01 is activated water is forced out of the valve body forcing water out of the unit and water will exit the vacuum breaker holes. As illustrated through the video from 1:02 minutes thru 1:16 minutes. As illustrated in video, when the Trap Primer is activated the supply line is shut off while the valve body empties into the gravity line, once valve body is emptied the supply line recharges/fills the valve body.
