This is great. I've been bringing an old 2004 YZ450 back from the dead and my next task is to rebuild the rear shock as it's leaking pretty bad. Got a Pivot Works rebuild kit and will be following this video to get it done.
Perfect timing on this video, my 426 has some oil on the shaft and is spongy. Great to get a refresher and the holes on the rebound adj is a great idea. I'll have to go to oxarc to have my small nitrogen bottle filled, its cheaper than a shop in the long run. Thanks for the video and its nice to see Beavis making the rounds keeping everything safe. 🏜👍
Your welcome. Yes surely sames money. Years ago I use to take them to a local shop that would fill them up for like 12 bucks then one day they charged me 75 bucks. Thats when I had to man up and get my own tank lol. I think Beavis wanted to attack me in this video lol. Love that little guy though
Another excellent video!!! This channel is one stop shopping for how to do maintenance and repairs. Thanks for using Stuck Nutz and telling people about why you are.
Hey buddy! An other great one! I have an idea for a future video for you... Electrical stuff. How to diagnose a trouble, how to test some sensors, ignition coil with a multimeter, wiring harness on a 4 stroke etc... It will be great 😊. Much love to you and Beavis.
Hello!!! Thanks! That is a great idea. I am waiting for a bike to come in that has some electric issues and I will be covering it. I surely need to get some videos out on that stuff. Hope your having a great weekend and Beavis says hi!
That nut grinding and nitrogen charging is what's stopping me from replacing my non existing bumper but I'm old and my shock is performing good anyway no jumps for my 😢
Yeah I can understand that. To hold you off you can always cut a slit on a new bumper and just slide it over the shaft. I have done that before to get by and it does work. Its not optimum but it will get ya by. Gotta remove the spring to do that.
Maybe I missed it but could you provide the part number for the Tusk kit. I just need a bumper and seals, A lot of kits are with bladder. Thanks for the Video.
Thats does work well for holding it down as well, especially if I knew I would never be taking it apart again. But the thread locker will hold it down tight and usually gets it done. I honestly wish they didnt make it where we gotta grind off the top of the shaft to remove the nut, but it is what it is I guess lol
My rear shock bumper is bad but bike not running good so im not worried about shock right yet bike bogging down under load this been goning on for few weeks im so frustrating with it
Not much. About the same design for the most part. Yes they have changed shim stacks, shock shaft sizes, and stuff like that but as far as working on them. Its the same.
I’m shockeddddd⚡️your back😜!
LoL 😁
The most complete tutorial ever!!👏👏 Beavis came for inspection,to make sure the procedure goes as described!😂
😁👍
Any time I look to do maintenance to my bikes. I watch your videos.
Nice! Hope they are of help!

Yes it it not a easy job for sure. Unfortunately

Get you some soft jazz and put inside your Vise and you can put it right onto the shaft and hold the shaft so it don't turn
Yes Sir. I do need to order some of them up.
If you have a thread file use a thread file now and clean up the end of that threads and make it look better
22:57 now I'll slide the $#it. I mean the uhhh...
😂 love it

@UpAllNight91 that's a good idea add some zip ties and some glue and I'll never know the difference lol going to try this thanks 😆
Great video my man 🤙🏾
Thanks man!👍
Bevis has arrived.
😄
I'm actually thinking about just buying a used shock to work on just in case I destroy mine and so I can still ride eh 😅
Thats a good idea.
Acts 2:38🔥
Is that a Bible verse or referring a part of the video?
The reservoir cap with the Schrader valve can you change that cap out if it has one with a needle for one that has a Schrader valve
Hello. Yes they can be changed out. There are aftermarket ones sold too.
Maybe I missed it but could you provide the part number for the Tusk kit. I just need a bumper and seals, A lot of kits are with bladder. Thanks for the Video.
I didnt provide links because this is for a wide range of bikes. What year and model are you looking for these for?
@@UpAllNight91 makes sense, looking for a 2009 YZ250F.
Thanks for the Videos.

Why don't you pean the shock shaft at the nut? It wouldn't come loose if you did!

What is the difference between a 2000 and a 2023 shock plz
Not much. About the same design for the most part. Yes they have changed shim stacks, shock shaft sizes, and stuff like that but as far as working on them. Its the same.
This does not apply to the 2010 to 2013 yz450f they had a completely unique shock body
Hello. On the 2010 to 13 they turned the bladder sideways but otherwise its the same design and same steps to change out a shock shaft seal.
Great video though.
Thanks man! I wish I could have made it look easier than that but at least its not misleading lol
