this is one of those examples of someone taking an extremely limited piece of hardware and just doing the A B S O L U T E M O S T with it. truly magnificent
Ngl, the first 8 seconds of this are stuck in my head. This whole song is a banger but the very beginning of it pops off and leaves such a good impression, goddamn, what a bop
I love both themes! This one happens to be a particular favorite of mine. Thank you very much for posting, as I was curious as to what "X" was like. Thanks!
Argonaut Software went *HAM* on this game. No wonder it caught Nintendo's attention and earned them a contract to work with Nintendo developing the Super FX chip and games for it.
I know. And did you know that this was the first game that Kazumi Totaka (who K.K. Slider from Animal Crossing is based on) did the music for X? Also, did you know that this was the first game to feature Totaka's Song that was heard in many others, such as Mario Paint? I uploaded more videos of X, as well as making someone update the X article at Wikipedia.
I heard this before it was cool. I was extremely surprised when I heard it in Super Smash Brawl though. That was all kinds of nostalgic awesomeness for me.
Fun fact: This music track is played on a Super Game Boy because it is a little bit faster than the Game Boy itself, luckily, Nintendo decided to slow down the speed to make it the same speed as a regular Game Boy, with The Super Game Boy 2 in Japan only.
Of course it is in SSBB. I uploaded this song as soon as I saw it revealed in the Smash Bros. Dojo website. And what lost tracks are you talking about?
I found it in X, which was its first appearance. I uploaded a video of it. The one in Mario Paint was the first one discovered. It's just like the Konami Code in the NES version of Contra was the first one discovered, while the Konami Code in the NES version of Gradius was its first appearance.
I just picked up a copy and have been playing it on my Original Gameboy and Super Gameboy so much fun, and it looks incredible for Gameboy too bad we never got it in the states because some of it being mostly in Japanese so on some the missions I have no idea what I'm doing.
este sonido es excelente para ser de un gameboy es muy emotivo y avansado; yo compre este juego por ebay y siii ke me costo obtenerlo pero valio la pena y como solo salio en japon es una joya rara los escenarios, diseños y canciones de los compositores HIROKAZU TANAKA Y KAZUMI TOTAKA LO VUELVEN EXCELENTE!!!!!DE HECHO SOY EL unico EN el salvador KE LO TIENE...... true. it would be nice if you had variations of one song in one category with their own individual ratio controls in ssb4 man its so nice to think in the vein of sakurai.
this is one of those examples of someone taking an extremely limited piece of hardware and just doing the A B S O L U T E M O S T with it.
truly magnificent
You'd think it was Tim Follin
It ranks right up there with Jake Kaufman and his work on Shantae, in terms of squeezing every drop out of the sound chip
If I didn't know when this was made, I'd think it's a song on a ds that's resembles older games
@@SeamusTheHunter well-said
@@Kiki-gs6ml The game did receive a DS(i) sequel, which feature a remix of this song, so...
Holy crap! I now see why they decided to remix this for Smash Bros. The original is just as awesome as the remix.
Ikr
Remix is actually from the DSi sequel iirc
EDIT: NVM
@@DeskoDev ?
@@DeskoDev You're actually right you know- 3D space tank remixed this and then they put in Super Smash Bros.
The remix is from the sequel and it SLAPs
Whew. Anyone (like myself) who has not previously heard this song is in for a treat.
For the gameboy, this is very impressive. Probably the best gameboy song.
Second best. The best is, Pluto's Stage from Mega Man V (GB).
Along with Jake Kaufman and the Follin bros' works
nope, listen to project S-11 on gbc
Every music by Alberto Jose Gonzalez. Especially the Turok games on GB/GBC. th-cam.com/video/hKJEZNVu5W8/w-d-xo.html
Doesn't still need to be impressive technically to have a beauty to it though.
Ok, Smooth McGroove just brought me here.
I just HAD to hear what the original sounded like.
Damnnnn... Smooth McGroove's version is SPOT ON. 👌
Smooth McGrooves rendition seems closer to Vinyl Cheese's famitracker remix, which is also a bop
@@jreigha I think Smooth McGroove's version is better
Sólo nice
It sure is
Same here. Smooth version is just perfect.
here because of Smooth Mc Groove's Acapella version of this
Kanista17 yeahhhh
Same
Ditto, but with how good this is i feel that eventually I'd have ended up here on my own sooner or later.
Same.
same
0:39 I can’t get enough of that bass melody
Love the X-scape version to death, but this is also super banger too!
such a tune
I feel nostalgic for this as for a lot of other music when i never grew up with it
A song this good had no right being for basically a cutscene. Should have been for a battle of some sort
For me, this is the definitive example if the term "Video Game Music" has a theme music.
Elon on his way to rename Twitter to X
I didn't know he was a fan
^ He also composed Animal Crossing music.
Progressive rock was alive and well in early video games!
If you want prog in video games the go-to composer is Tim Follin

We need a Switch port of this game worldwide. What do you think? This game with updated graphics and in color.
this is the giant steps of 8-bit music
I listened to this at 1.25x speed originally by accident and oh my God, it sounds A M A Z I N G
Sounds like you are in the second phase of a boss or under a timer with the last 30 seconds left
SpikerDragon95 I was thinking the same thing

The best track of entire GB. /thread
No
The Mega Man games for Game Boy (except II) would like to have a word with you
@@silverthecatastrophic5270 So would Gargoyles Quest, Castlevania II, and Battletoads.
@Silver The Catastrophic the second GB MM didn't have bad arrangements, just horrible high pitch. the compositions themselves are amazing.
The title theme for the Smurfs (GB)

Kickass song, someone needs to extend this version
I know. And did you know that this was the first game that Kazumi Totaka (who K.K. Slider from Animal Crossing is based on) did the music for X? AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH THIS IS WHERE THIS LEGENDARY MUSIC IS FROM!
yeah!

im gonna play this shit!
No doubt!
alright!
They did a good job with the remix!
How adorable and cool at the same time.
I heard this before it was cool. I was extremely surprised when I heard it in Super Smash Brawl though. That was all kinds of nostalgic awesomeness for me.
omg unbelievable writing on this one
Smooth McGroove and VinylCheese both perfected this
This should be on the Japanese 3DS Virtual Console.
It should also be on the American and European virtual console as well

holy crap Incredible best game boy song ive ever heard
I can't beleave that this game is only in japan! it looks and sounds sooooo cool!
Same here! I REALLY appreciate the upload! This track RULEZ!!!!

I would have missed this in my life if Smooth McGroove haven't brought me here
Still surprised no one's made a video of going through the Pokemon Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon Wormhole to this song. It fits like a buttery glove.
An example of a Gameboy game that absolutely pushed the limits of the console's hardware. Why in the world wasn't this localized?
It almost did. Look up Lunar Chase.
@@1983parrothead Oh, I see! Lunar Chase is an unreleased US prototype of the game.
thank you i have wanted to hear the origanal since they updated it on smash!
They should’ve released this game in the us since it’s one of first portable 3D games
they were planning to release this in the west, but they thought kids wouldn't be able to understand it
Wow! That's pretty damn amazing for a Game Boy game. :O
Thanks for uploading! :D
First heard this in SSBB, 13 years ago!
I don't know why, but the ever so slight pitching problem makes me like this version a lot more than the others online
nostalgic quirk?
Thx Smooth.
Hi! I’m from da incoming “Smooth McGroove” train!
Lol I love this song. Even the original is pwn! Woulda loved if they put the original in the game as well ^-^
So this is what the original sounded like. Very nice.
The Wikipedia article about this Game Boy title has been updated with a lot more info other than its history and music!
Smooth McGroove brought me here ^O^
This would make for great workout music.
I'm addicted to it now. D:
Anyone Smooth McGrooving ?
Sounds like Bonus Stage music.
BONUS STAGE!!!!!
Ready?....GO!
Kinda like some sonic advance bonus stage with a mix of kirby
Everyone, except the people who developed FaceBall 2000 (a.k.a. MIDI Maze).
No way is 2021 lol
I get the feeling that Dan Deacon was listening to this or something like it when he was writing Ultimate Reality.
Also, X was released in 1992, while the first Mega Man X was released in 1994.
The download link to this music is in this video's description.
Splatoon has messed up my mind to the point where I heard this in Smash and thought it was from Octo Expansion because of the first five notes
....*head'splode out of awesomeness*
Here because of Smooth McGroove!
kazumi was the guy who was the director for the remix too
*Thanks Smooth McGroove!*
I was clearly talking about the sequel rather than the original...of course, the latter stayed in Japan.
There is only one song from X in SSBB, and it's the one you are viewing right here.
I'm here from Smooth McGroove! Nice beat!
This song slaps
@PHILRYABKIN - Even better, they put it as is from the original onto the Virtual Console for 3DS!
This is some YMO shit right here.
Cool
I have this cartridge in a box, without manual.
X-Scape is now available.

If u ask me, I think this 1 is so much better.
I put that there to make it easier to find this. Also, it's how the Japanese pronounce the letter "X".
