I look around at everything in my home and realize that none of it is important and I won't miss it when it's time to let go. That includes most of my clothes. It's an easy trade to travel and experience the country!
Yes absolutely! It’s funny how we get attached a materialistic things so easily (speaking from personal experience) it’s always something that we have to work on, just slowing down appreciating the small things 😊👍🏼
I couldn't agree more! We moved twice the last 5 years starting at the home we lived 25 years and everyone understands the "crap" acquired over any amount of years and, as what my wife calls me being a "pack rat", I had PLENTY OF CRAP acquired! Moving from her childhood home to mine nearby and getting rid of a lot of the stuff I still didn't get rid of what I should. So then after losing mom and dad and purchasing MY childhood with all dads stuff after he was there since before my birth 52 years ago, HE had ever MORE than I dreamed of. Getting rid of a lot of that stuff was a relief. BUT THAT'S NOT ALL!! Moving out of state I STILL kept crap and moved it with us that is unbelievably worthless to me and remain in boxes in my 2400 sqft garage! I can't wait to get they coach and begin OUR adventure to REALLY clean up!
Perhaps I am too late to this but I am working on my 2 million mile mark as a commercial driver. There are not many places I would want to go back to that are worth going to, to begin with.
@@HappilyEverHanks not at this moment but really wanting to get back into RVing. I work as a contractor for the Corps of Engineers on a lake. Love y’all’s videos! Thanks for sharing!
That’s wonderful to hear Darrell! We hope to be able to see you on the road one day 🙂 thank you again for all your support, keep in touch. We hope to hear from you again!
You are so encouraging. I am 72 and my sister is 82. We bunk camped in Europe years ago and have felt so stuck waiting in Gods waiting room. Now chapter 3 of our lives is seeing places right here at home. You make me feel brave and so much more prepared. Thank you.
Hey Marilyn! This is so fantastic to hear! You guys are such an inspiration, keep this going! 🤗❤️ You two sound like beautiful people and we wish you all the best!!! Keep these amazing comments coming, we really enjoy hearing from you !! 🙂👋🏼
Thank you soooo much for this!! I took the plunge and just got my 5th wheel after 19yrs of marriage. A newly single, empty nester at 50yrs old and decided to hit the road with my border collie "Daisy". I'm in day 2 of living full time in my new home on wheels and this information is much appreciated!! Keep it up and share all the ins and outs of my new life on the road!!!! BTW, bro, you totally out punted your coverage!!! ;)
The distraction tip for me is don't distract someone while they are setting up camp or breaking down camp. it is sooo important because dumb dangerous things can happen if you skip or miss something when setting up or unhooking. Almost every time i walk around the camper before we move the camper i find something missed.
Yes!!! Love this tip, because I unfortunately can relate to this as well. Too many times being distracted has caused us to make some ooopsies along the way. Having a set system and staying on the task at hand can save a lot of time and money. Awesome tip Nathan! Thank you for sharing 🙂🤙🏼
This is our first year RVing . My husband retired really early. I'm terminal and with a aneurysem you never know. We live in Texas so this first year we will dedicate to mostly seeing Texas. If you ever come out this way please let us know. So much fun to be had. I wanna ride a balloon, parasailing, zip line and see God's glory. God bless both of you and your family and friends. Live it up! Angel
A lot of great places in Texas! Or so we’ve been told and also saw videos 😃 It will be a great time for y’all! Thank you so much, we will let you know if we make it to Texas! ❤️ ~Renee & Kyle
Y’all are NOT weird, your extraordinarily awesome!!! I have such an admiration for both of you. You have a marriage that surpasses all others. Keep doing you because this farmgirl needs this channel for my downtime, which is extremely limited.
Daniel, what you just said has brought smiles to our faces. Thank you. It is so wonderful to meet you Daniel, we hope we can continue to hear from you. Stay safe and best to you - Kyle and Renee
My husband and I have worked together since 1988! We are best friends, and can hardly wait to travel together! You are so right, more communication, more love, and always respect! Enjoyed my first “visit” with you!
Hi Stacy! It's so nice to meet you :) That is amazing, you guys are an inspiration. What kind of work do you both do? Do you guys plan on traveling in an RV one day together? Renee and I were extremely fortunate to have jobs that worked well with living in an RV and traveling. We haven't had any regrets since jumping into this lifestyle ❤️ - Kyle and Renee
HappilyEverHanks we met as Animal Control Officers. Then retired to a small community in Northern Idaho. We both ended up volunteering in law enforcement. I ended up being hired as the Chief Probation Officer, while my hubby, Tad, heads the first offender diversion program. We laugh, in Animal Control, Tad was a Lt. and I was a field Officer, here in Probation, I’m the Chief! We plan on “long timing” first, and seeing how it goes. I look forward to watching your channel.
@@stacybrown2165 That's amazing 😃love that story! Renee and I met through healthcare...I was working on the ambulance and she was the nurse in the Emergency Department. Love hearing that you guys are going to be hitting the road eventually, how exciting!! Reach out to us anytime and keep us updated on your travels! - Kyle and Renee
First I love your channel. I feel a connection with you. I am (was) an RN. I was also an ER nurse. I appreciate what you do. We are working towards getting an rv and getting started. Our situation is different from most I just turned 62 and she is 60. I am retired on disability. I need a walker or a scooter to get around. But we are going for it. We do not own a house and have no friends or family nearby so we don’t have those issues. Keep up the great work.
Hey there! That is so awesome to hear that you were an ER nurse as well!! We are so happy for you guys! You are making the most of it and actually just getting it done 😊👍🏼 we are rooting for you the entire way!! Much love to you guys! We hope that we can continue to hear from you on other videos as well, your comments means so much to us ❤️
So many great points. The separation from those who are used to seeing you, having you nearby to come and see, or come when they need help is a huge thing. We don’t realize how dependent we can become on each other for support, help with projects, and other things until we are forced to adapt and accommodate. We all hate changing what we are used to and our social norms. Even things like getting used to the new noises while sleeping in the RV with those super insulated, walls of tissue paper-like noise reduction. The first time you hear the difference in noise with the wind and heavy rains while watching Tv. Lol. Great video you guys! Can’t wait to find out what you have to offer next!!
Couldn’t agree more brother! It truly is a change and takes some time to become adapted to the changes. It’s not always for everyone, but we absolutely love it and it has definitely become our home and new way of life ❤️ Let me ask you... did you enjoy watching this type of vlog coming from our channel? We are looking for honest feedback on the “coffee style” vlog. Trying to be objective as you can, do you think this video held you attention and can bring good value to people? We want to see if we can start incorporating more of this style into our channel
@@HappilyEverHanks totally enjoyed it!! Love seeing the fun and adventure of places less traveled. Also like to see the realistic reminders to show it can be done with the right planning and mind set. Everything’s great in moderation I think you keep a pretty stellar mix overall.
@@MrNicmousseau that makes total sense, we knew you would have great feedback for us 😃🙏🏼 we appreciate you!! We couldn’t agree more, moderation and good balance is key. We look forward to doing more episodes like this in the future!
@@MrNicmousseau we made it to Ohio! It’s definitely getting cooler here during the night time. Wish we could be up in Michigan with you guys. Miss y’all a lot, can’t wait to come visit again 🙂 - Kyle and Renee
@@HappilyEverHanks hope your having a great time!! We miss you guys too!!! The biggest problem this time of year is the farther north you go, the colder it seems to get. 🥶
Hey thank you Sam! I was actually going to ask you how you liked this style of video once you commented...but you totally beat me to it :) Hopefully we can keep doing these videos every once in awhile. It's nice to just sit and talk!
We want to come visit up yonder your way if the weather gets warmer. Probably freezing there now! Not sure the RV would last too long in those temperatures 🥶 don’t want another episode of frozen pipes lol
Will do!! 😃 we went a little out of our normal for the channel, but overall we really like how this video turned out. Definitely might be a new direction we head with!! Thank you Ross! - Kyle and Renee
I would absolutely LOVE to find someone that I enjoyed being with so much. It sounds as if you have an amazing relationship! The fact that you have good communication and obviously don't take offense when talking is probably the best thing you have going for you. If only we could all have that! Savel travels!
Awww Dawn you sound absolutely wonderful ❤️ We would love to meet you in person, we would all definitely hit it off well 😊 Thank you so much for amazing words you just left us, they mean so much to us! We look forward to hearing from you again!! Much love from the Hanks family
My husband and I and our 1 year old daughter are going full RV in the next month! Glad I found your channel, we’re so excited for this jump 🥰 we’re also weird people and are always together when we’re home, it won’t be much of a change for us 😂 We’re not traveling just yet but we have 14 acres we’re sticking it on with a septic and water hookup. We’re going to save for a couple years to build!
This is SO wonderful to hear!! Love reading this encouraging comment 😊 Thank ya'll so much for your support! Keep us updated on how the build goes!! We hope to talk again soon!
We’ve been part time trailering for about 23 years, so know the basics. Just retired, are selling our house and will take delivery of a Solitude to travel full time in about a month. You are SO RIGHT ON about all these things. I do have to say that I actually appreciate the fact that we’re saving water by taking what we call “Navy showers” 😆,. My mother in law, who was a young woman in the 1940’s, used to say that she and her friends would take what they called “PTA showers”, meaning, “pits, ti*s and a$$” 😆. They were a lot more wild than you might think back then. I never forgot that, and sometimes that applies to RV showers as well. As an aside, she and father in law were definitely part of the Cocktail generation. When we went trailering with them, they had a four hour/250 mile rule when towing. Thus meant that we stopped early, set up camp and then enjoyed happy hour, including epic Manhattans. They taught us birdwatching and bridge. They’ve since passed, but we sure appreciate the memories 😻
Wow thank you for sharing all of that!! Love the PTA version better than us calling it an army shower 😂. So great! Needs to be on a t-shirt! So glad you’ll be in the Solitude soon 👍🏼 ~Renee & Kyle
Wow sounds like some fun times and memories to last a life time. I think the shower is probably a drawback for most, but I to me RV life is humbling. Not just resources, but also in terms of personal growth and development. And, I like the travel rule. It's never fun to rush to get somewhere and not enjoy the journey!
@@RVersity yes it can be very humbling. When we are somewhere where we can take a really really long hot shower, we appreciate it more than it being an expectation. Different way of looking at everything for sure 👍🏼
I’m so grateful I found your channel. My husband and I are gearing up to live the RV life with our three kids in the coming year, and your videos are so helpful, entertaining, and encouraging. Thank you for this wonderful content!

I love watching videos of RV Living couples. You guys are fun! My husband and I are not full time but we go out whenever he has a few days off. He’s an ER doc so maybe someday we can locum tenens like you. We typically go to nearby lakes (haven’t gotten up the guts to boondock yet). We have a new grandbaby so we don’t want to get too far away for too long. Maybe someday when he is old enough to travel with us. In our short term rving, we have learned to have the trailer packed at all times. Clothes, dishes, linens. Everything but the food and I have a ready to go menu and grocery list so I can hit the store in an hour and be ready to go. We keep some cold stuff in a box in an extra fridge in the house that can be moved over quickly. Just want to be ready when hubby hits the GO button. Happy trails and look us up if you ever come to Oklahoma.
Hey Trisha!! And so wonderful to meet you guys! How awesome that your husband is an ER doc, it would be fun to meet up with y’all and swap some ER stories 😊 congratulations to you both on the new grandbaby, that is a really exciting adventure for both of you!!!You guys are rocking it already! What kind of RV do you travel in on the road when you do make your getaways? 🙂
@@HappilyEverHanks We have a 37’ PrimeTime Lacrosse TT. We absolutely love it. Oklahoma has more lakes than any other state so we camp at state parks and lake campgrounds. We love having fun with our kayaks, waverunners and bicycles. Maybe even a little fishing. Come visit us sometime. It does get hot here in OK, but if you’re near the water, it is fantastic.
It sounds like you guys have an awesome rig Trisha!! 😀👍🏼 we are so happy for you guys! Oklahoma sounds like a really nice state, we would like to spend some more time there and just check out the areas. We are always game for a lake day!! If you haven't looked into it yet, Elks lodges have a lot of lodges west of the Mississippi with partial to full hook ups for minimal or no fees. Yeah, you have to be a member @ an individual lodge & the membership can be pricy, but it works great for us traveling from Michigan to Arizona & back.
Hey Kim, we actually haven’t heard of that. We really appreciate the suggestion! We will definitely have to look into that for potential membership! 😃👍🏼
You guys are from Michigan? Some of our best friends are from Michigan! We stop up ever summer (they live in Alpena, Michigan). It is eastern Michigan and lies on Lake Huron. Absolutely beautiful state and so much to do! Thank you so much for stopping by, it means a lot to us ❤️ hope you have a wonderful New Year - Kyle and Renee
Hey Hanks. Joe. In North Carolina. I used my gray water tank. I filed the shower tub almost full. Then backed washed the black water tank by lifting the hose and opened the gray tank valve. With the black tank valve oped. Then close the gray tank valve, then lower the hose. some times it worked in one or two tries. Some times more. The washing machine made it easier.
Oh yes! We have heard this trick before and didn’t know it was so common! Sounds like a real masterpiece once you get it down! Thanks for sharing 😃 ~Renee & Kyle
Leaving home at 18 is a giant leap for anyone. For me it was the best thing I could do. I've been in my line of work for 4.5 years. Living out of a duffle bag is I'm used to. I'm working on building up the courage to marry my best friend, and researching moving into an RV in the next 2 years. It's finding the right truck/trailer combination for me at the time, as well as what will work for "us". I have an idea how to live because I'm used to it, but it will be a different shock for her. Hey, as long as she has her hot water for showers after a long shift I'll live 😅. Great content, will continue to follow! 😎
Hey Milo! Yes, you totally hit it spot on! So happy for you, that's amazing. You have so many great things to look forward to, it seems like you have done well with the situations that you have been faced with. Keep up the great work Milo, this is inspiring 🙂 Best to you both!! Keep us updated with how things progress, we would love to hear from you again!

We just bought a mini home in Colorado, (born and raised in MN moved to FL) and are very excited about downsizing and having less space/stuff and spend more time with our kids outdoors!
I just bought an RV and you guys just slapped me into reality. I'm terrified. I'm supposed to pick it up tomorrow. I don't have anywhere to take it. 😅😅😄😄😄😄🤣🤣🤣🤣. What did I get myself into.
You will do great!!! 😊 we just want to show some things that we didn’t think about right away. Trust us, you will find your groove and nail this lifestyle! 👏🏼 so nice to meet you and we are so happy for you for getting an RV! What kind of RV did you end up purchasing?? 🙂
Sorry I get notifications for certain things. Its been eye opening. I found a lot to lease got it towed there. Still looking for a truck I can afford because its big. Omg my site has almost no cell service despite having an antenna and being pre-wired, it said its a 4 season trailer I can't tell if its colder inside the damn rv than it is outside sometimes lol. I woke up to my water frozen couldn't wash my dishes (here's a better example my olive oil was frozen in my cabinet). My 2021 did not pass my test nor my expectations. I don't like sleeping with my kids in it so we don't use it often (it it were closer id try more often) but maybe ill tow it down to Florida, Texas, some warm climate and try it again. Full time RV life maybe for some but not for me. Not yet until I figure it out. So im still trying to figure out water, electric I have the solar but damn its heavy!, heating situation and wifi situation. I can't say I won't recommend it because im failing at it 😂😂 despite having some resources. Because we are having fun being outdoors, we have liberty in traveling if we want, were not confined. My husband says RV videos and a community is a must. If you plan on going into this I don't have advice because to each their own, but I wish you whatever it is is your looking to get out of it. I haven't traveled with it long distance because I want to figure out these issues before taking a trip. But its been interesting.
Phenomenal is the only word I can think of at this time that describes your channel. Your Nameplate “Happily Ever Hank’s” is just right on point. I always count the days until your next upload.
Tip of the week, "Normal is just a setting on the washing machine.", But seriously, when we spent 5 months on the road in 2015 the cost of doing laundry was one we hadn't planned on. In preparation of going full time we purchased a rig with washer/dryer hookup, and I installed a Spendide combo in it. We see people ask on the forums all the time if having a washer/dryer is worth it. My response is...do you have a washer/dryer in your sticks & bricks...well my RV is my home now, so of course we a washer/dryer in our RV. 👍 Yes, you two are our type of weird. 😎 Everyday has its challenges, When issues happen, we take a breath, look at each other and say, "If this is the worst thing that happens today we are doing all right", roll up our sleeves and figure out the next step. 😁 Great video you two....I do miss long hot showers, but I enjoy not setting an alarm more. 😎 Hope they are getting that turbo fixed!! Take care you two!! 😁👍❤️ Sean & Angie
This is fantastic! Yes, the washer/dryer combo seems to be so worth it! Our friends have one and when we visit we always go back and forth about purchasing one at that time. The laundry prices are no joke on the road! We can never go throw a quick load on because of cost. We greatly want to be able to purchase a combo soon in our rig. That would be such a great addition 👍🏼 Haha thank you guys! So glad our weirdness works for both of you and we haven’t scared you away 😄 love you outlook on life with just rolling up the sleeves. Life throws curve balls at times, but makes all of us stronger in the end. Sean and Angie it was so great you both stopped by. We always love hearing from you and are eager to hear feedback. You both bring smiles to our faces with these comments 😊much love from the Hanks family - Renee and Kyle
I feel like I’m washing dishes all day. Just cause it’s a small space and they pile up so much faster. We don’t full time but this time of year we hunt and stay in our camera 4 or the 7 days a week. We also love to be around each other all the time so I don’t think it’s weird haha
Hey that’s good to know we aren’t the only weird ones 😉 yes!! Dishes, dishes, dishes lol Thank you guys for stopping by ❤️ we appreciate y’all! - Renee and Kyle
Hey Hanks. My name is Joe. In North Carolina. I am going on eleven years in an stationary rv. I have an older washer and dryer. They are setup out side. when my black tank clogs up, I use the washer to back flush the black tank. Fill the washer , put it in the spin cycle. Place the washing machine hose in the dump hose. have some one turn the washer on, while holding the hoses about wast high. After a few seconds stop the washer. while holding the hose up in the middle reconnect the end to the dump station. Repeat to clear the clog.
Hey Joe! It's so great to meet you!! Wow that is a nifty way of clearing a black tank clog 😎How did you learn that one? Love this! Thank you so much for sharing Joe!

Hey buddy!! Thanks man :) Yeah we turned down the lights to set the ambience, keep it real with the coffee talk! What did you think about this format of video?
Sooo... here’s a question about how to haul necessities.... we always have to bring #1... enough wood for the camping trip which we have to stack on the camper floor over the axle or.... #2.. bring a chain saw and cut our wood on site. Soooo.. where do you store your chain saw?!
@@thompsona10625 what if you store it on the shower floor during travel days! We use our shower floor for holding things and it works great. Maybe throw an old tarp down just to protect a from any spillage of oil or gas 🤷♂️ just a thought! Now you got that beautiful new truck though, so maybe you have some extra room on the back??
@@thompsona10625 that’s awesome to hear 👏🏼👊🏼 we are super happy that it was enjoyable to watch. we are getting a lot of great feedback from everyone! maybe we should start doing these more!!
With free electric hook ups I’d suggest using a space heater to save on propane. Also you don’t get as much condensation. My propane is mostly just for cooking and our hot water tank
Such a great point Sarah! We also try and do this as much as we can. Take advantage of the free electricity and save on the propane costs when you can!
Figuring out how to be self sufficient without places to store tools in such as a garage or an attic can be the hardest part. Especially when you don't normally have access to big tools that you might need on demand! Like is said in the video, home sickness sets in but also your dependency on relatives who have more knowledge than you in certain topics encourage you to learn the ropes really fast! Skills you never knew must be developed in order to get back on the road or do mandatory maintenance. It's not easy and sometimes can be unsettling but it's so worth it in the end!
The tip of the week setup cracks me up every time. You guys are do fun and yet so sincere and we just enjoy watching your videos. Love this! It's amazing what you've learned about RV life when you look back. Funny what some people think they'd hate or enjoy. I think of RV life is humbling. Going on my 5th year and 4th RV! Good advice and thanks for being brutally honest about what to expect. More people need to hear the reality of RV living before diving in.
Thank you so much ❤️ it’s so nice to meet you, we didn’t catch your name! Absolutely, the journey as an RV’er gives one a whole new perspective on life. That’s amazing how long you have been doing this! Living in 4 RV’s over 5 years..you must have a ton of experience with different models of RV’s!!
I wanted to be an Over-the-Road truck driver, but as I'm getting older, the desire is just not there anymore. I just got into a career field that will allow me to freelance and travel. I decided that RV living would still fulfill my desire to see our beautiful country, and won't be as hard as truck driving. As well, two of my children will be able to go with me - something that wouldn't have really been feasible inside a tractor truck. This video is the first one that I've watched. The title drew me in. I didn't think about how smart it is to consider the bad parts of RV living before looking at the good parts. Thank you so much! Can't wait to watch some more of your videos!
Lakisha this is so amazing to hear! We are really happy for you that you are able to find that work life balance while on the road and living in an RV! Even better you get to have your babies right beside you the entire way ❤️ We can't thank you enough for taking the time to write a thoughtful comment like this. You guys are the best 🙂 honestly, we are just so excited to have made friends with you guys. Now we have all the more reason to come and visit Ohio! (Our next door neighbors to Pennsylvania) 👋🏼😄
Hi! I have been watching some of your videos while I am preparing to go out on the road with my two children in 2022. Thank you so much for putting out such informative and entertaining material. It looks like you two are having a great time!
Hi Selina! It's so wonderful to meet you 😊👋🏼Congratulations to you and your kiddos on your upcoming adventures, how exciting!! Thank you for you kind words and support, you mean so much ❤️ What kind of RV are you guys planning on traveling in come 2022??
@@HappilyEverHanks I was set on a truck and travel trailer, but then I watched one of your videos and you said that a 5th wheel is easier and smoother to tow. So now I'm torn. I have been saving up money to buy a truck and RV, but I don't want to go into debt doing it. I want to take my kids to see as much of our country as possible. I would rather give them memories and adventures than plastic toys that no one will remember later. I almost died from Covid earlier this year, and I don't want to wait until retirement to enjoy life. My goal is to get started in May 2022.
Oh my goodness, we are so happy that you are ok ❤️It's amazing how quickly life can change. We are both ER nurses, our heart goes out to you Selina Yes, it can be overwhelming to make the decision. There are so many options!! We wish you the best in your research and upcoming adventures with your kiddos. Feel free to reach out to us anytime here and we would be glad to answer any questions! We hope that we can hear from you on other videos, it has been nice getting to hear your side of the story. Stay safe, much love from the Hanks family 🤗
Great points. Bill and I never really worried that we'd have trouble being with each other 24/7, but that's the number 1 thing that people tell us: that they wouldn't be able to be with their spouse in a small space all the time.
Yeah that’s what we have noticed as well from talking to others. It’s a huge concern for most people, but Renee and I felt the same way as you guys 🙂 we wouldn’t have it any other way! Did you guys enjoy seeing this style of content coming from our channel? We are looking for constructive feedback regarding if this “coffee talk” style of vlogging was a good direction for us to head once in awhile? You can be flat out honest, we need some feedback 👍🏼
You guys are so relatable. Like the openness and real life sharing. Keep the vids coming. For young 30 something you are living the life that many of us desire. My wife and I are preparing to go do the semi full time RV living. So your vids are a big help as you have a lot of life experience to share. Thanx for it all...
Wow Miguel! Thank you so much for you awesome support and kind words! You mean so much to us 😀 We are so happy for you guys and your upcoming RV lifestyle! Keep us updated with your progression, we want to hear more from you 🙂👋🏼
Regarding less is more, YES!! This is the part I cannot wait for! I have two little kids and our current home it filled with clutter and I am so ready to downsize. We are about 1-2 years away from going full time and I am already throwing stuff out lol
This is awesome to hear! You have some exciting times to look forward to with the kids 😊What a change in lifestyle, but SO fulfilling! You guys will have so many memories to look back on. The downsizing was the hardest part for Renee and I (what do we REALLY need vs. what do we want). It's amazing to hear that other families like yourself are getting out on the road and living life to the fullest. It's great to meet you Mikayla! We hope to hear from you more! - Kyle and Renee
Thank you for your boondocking references!!! My husband and I watch and follow a LOT of full time rv’ers and they have never mentioned boondockers welcome and all stays. Y’all are our newest of rv hero’s… good luck and God Bless ❤️
I’m full time with my daughter. We are stationary during the school year. I recommend buying an all weather camper for full time. Also, I wish I had not gotten the big Dish package. I’m happy with the antenna channels and streaming to my TVs. I think the outside kitchen should be optional. Never use mine. I wish the big cargo had a door going into it from the inside and on the outside storage where dirty stuff goes, it doesn’t need to be deep and unusable storage. Wish the side closets were shelves facing the bed on each side so I could put handy things accessible when in bed like books, remotes, a place for drinks, phones, etc. Because with the closed closets by the bed, if I put something on the shelf in front of it, I can not get to the inside of closet without moving everything. So I don’t have anything in my closets. Also, wish the manufacturers would stop using too much formaldehyde in blinds. I loved the dark out blinds but when the sun hits the windows, it activates the formaldehyde smells and we can never sleep past 8-9am. My next camper will definitely have a washer and dryer. I don’t like air coming out of the floor. My allergies are bad. The vents need to be strategically put in to blow where dust doesn’t collect. Example: My heat air vents blow under my bed and that’s where we put out shoes. So I’ve never used the heater because of that. But I do live in the south. Also, don’t like the sink being next to the stove where water splashes and runs down under it. Also, make the hatches more accessible so owners can locate plumbing hoses easy and keep them tightened. My biggest pet peeve is not getting a manual. A 15-20 min walk around is useless. I videoed mine but he didn’t explain how to use the air conditioner or the radio or where the secret hatches were to check plumbing. Also, make water shut offs at the kitchen and bathroom so water can be closed off and used at other places if there’s a plumbing problem. Then there’s the security issue. Why don’t the manufacturers put a good lock inside that we can use when we are sleeping with our kids. My neighbor had a key that fit my front door and my side storage hatches. Wow! I love the two door camper ideas but I’m not so crazy having my child sleeping on the other end and with a door that I have to worry about. Just put locks inside. Also, I put a small safe in my camper which is nice but it would be great if one came installed in an easy to get to but hidden place that doesn’t cost a grand extra on the price. It would be fantastic if there was a place outside camper to put shoes. I hate walking in and always worrying about what to do with shoes. Then there’s weight distribution. Have a list in a cabinet telling RV owners how much weight can go say in kitchen cabinets. Closets. Etc. I had too much canned food in my kitchen cabinets. Put lights in pantry’s that are hard to get too. Put the washer and dryer on the opposite end of the master bedroom. Or put in the kitchen. I have allergies and all that lint is ridiculously hard to keep down in the bedroom. Also, manufacturers need to use a better sealer around the plumbing. There’s no reason it should come loose before I go on my first trip. And for the back up cameras, if it has a place for one, then give it to me and don’t make me pay $200 for it. Also, why not put a water pressure regulator on the RV so we don’t blow out our faucet because we didn’t know because we didn’t get a manual. I think the material used on new campers need to be better so I don’t have to completely recalk and seal my roof within the first two years. Goes for kitchen and bathroom too. And maybe I’m dreaming but there needs to be a way to stabilize the camper so it doesn’t feel like I’m in a boat out at sea during a storm when I’m in the bathroom. It would be great if there was a scale that told us how much the camper weighs as we are bringing stuff in. And please just stop with the black tank sensors. Mine only worked right on the lot at dealership the day they did the walk around. And all campers need a black tank flush. Never buy a light weight for full time living. They are great for traveling around if you only bring yourself and a suitcase. I could write a book but I’m stopping here. I’m in the market to buy a new camper just two years after buying a new RV off the show room floor. The salesman was not experienced and he sold me the floor plan I liked but cost me a fortune by not selling me what would work for me living full time and also by not helping me figure out if my tow vehicle was big enough to move my camper. The experience of the salespeople is key. If they just want to sell you something, but not have you as a repeat customer, which is highly likely, then it could be a huge financial disaster for the customers. And for the salesman in the long term. Thank you for letting me leave a message. Didn’t mean to talk so negatively. There are way more positives than negatives about having an RV. I need to focus on that next time. Ha-ha!
When you hit your head on the slide, did it to, I bought swimming noodles, cut them to the size you need, cut it down the middle, put it on your slide, no more head hitting, love you both, you make me so happy when I watch you

Tip: Keep silicone lubricant for the slides on hand. There is nothing worse than having squealing slides. Especially when you are leaving early from an RV Park.
Awesome tip! I actually just treated our slide yesterday because I was thinking the same thing :) That silicone spray can be expensive after awhile, but it pays to have the extra insurance on the slides! Thank you guys so much for stopping by, we appreciate you watching ❤️- Renee and Kyle
Loved the video! Definitely not the cheapest lifestyle, but so rewarding! RV TIP: ALWAYS HAVE A FLY SWATTER WHEN BOONDOCKING, the flies WILL find their way in!
Thank you so much! Yes, definitely not the cheapest but it is so amazing how many adventures one can experience through RV living! LOL you guys sound like you have some experience with this for sure 😄 Those flies are the worst! Are you currently RV living on the road?? - Kyle and Renee
Convenience is NOT abundant. TRUTH. RV life is a series of learning and adapting opportunities. If you’re not comfortable with change, the unexpected, and the gross side of life (sewage) than RVing isn’t for you. Great video and very helpful for folks just starting out. -Chris & Suzannah

Yeah, something I finally became able to articulate after a month of watching RV channels is that it takes a reasonable amount of mental and emotional maturity to full time in an RV and those same maturities are what make for a lasting and successful marriage. Folks who are secure in themself and their partner can make it through just about anything. Any doubts will be magnified on the road. I'm not saying most folks these days are immature but... there's a lot of broken relationships and failed marriages out there and people who feel like the world owes them a living and then tantrum when they don't get it - and they look to place blame everywhere except where it's deserved. Folks who can make mistakes, admit them, and learn from them are folks who will make forward progress in life. Those are the people who will be ok living in an RV full time.
Love this ❤️ we really value your insight and amazing support. Honestly, the marriage and life in general is a ride. You gotta learn to ride the ups and down... but more importantly just appreciate the journey. It’s hard sometimes, but it’s an amazing life and you only have 1 shot to live it Much love to you for the great comment. What’s your name by the way? Do you currently own an RV?
@@HappilyEverHanks Thanks, glad it all made sense to read it. First off, I noticed you guys have a Solitude - have you heard of the Grand Design Ambassador program? It's a two-way promotional exchange between Grand Design and social media folks like yourselves and I think you guys would be a good fit. Here are links to the program and application respectively if you're interested: gdrv4life.granddesignrv.com/community/lifestyle-ambassadors gdrv4life.granddesignrv.com/become-lifestyle-ambassador I'd rather not give out my name in the open online as it's a family policy not to give out too much identifying info to keep the family safe, but will gladly share more via email or something. We don't currently have an RV, but the day when the wife and I become empty nesters will be here in a couple years and we're daydreaming about what we're going to do with ourselves and, at the moment, we're leaning toward acquiring a truck and a Grand Design Imagine 2600RB and seeing how much damage a woman in a wheelchair, her service dog, and the dude who tries to keep them out of trouble can do, er, I mean, how much of the country we can see. We were impressed with the effort and insulation that GDRV put into their "four season" products, and from there we've been hearing a LOT about how amazing the GDRV owner community is. Since we're big on Fall colors and, already living in the midwest, we're looking forward to some Winter camping across the Northern US and Canada. It was some of your Winter tips videos that got me to your channel. Oh, that reminds me, as I've mentioned we don't have our own rig yet, I can only pass on secondhand information, but if you guys are still considering quality skirting, these folks: www.customskirting.com/ seem to have an amazing reputation and come recommended by other YT RVers. I think for certain people this lifestyle can definitely work especially people that are retired. I would love to retire in an RV and just travel once I retire but I don’t think I could do it full time and sell my house to do it. I would love to do it during the winter here in Utah and maybe drive to Florida every summer!! I think it’s more expensive than people realize. I have two kids and I don’t think people should be doing it if they have kids because kids need a stable household and friends outside of their family. It’s definitely doable for certain people.
It's hilarious seeing these vids. I'm a truck driver, I've been out 7 months at a time with just enough space for a bed and a fridge. My tip for yall rvers, is utilize the truck stops, especially if you don't have a bathroom. The small campers are more than welcome at the truck stops, park for the night, we got showers, food, bathrooms. Perfect for smaller trips to your family during the holidays.

Black tank tip. I stole this idea but I THINK it will work. Dump a little dawn dish soap in your black tank with it about 1/3 full. Drive to your next destination and dump and rinse. This cleans all the YUKIES out of the tanks and washes your probes. One thing I didn’t realize; the tank is long and flat. I thought it was more like a cube. At least it’s like that in our model. Try it; let me know! I think it’s a great idea! Thx for the video!
Yeah that is totally a thing! My buddy showed it to me awhile back and he swears by it. I guess that call it the "Geo-Method." You pour down dawn dish soap, Calgon and some bleach. Incorporate those together and then like you said....drive to the next destination and let those break down the inside of the black tank. It helps clean those sensors as well, but those sensors get so easily gunked up anyways LOL Love the tip Brian! Thanks for sharing brother 😃🤙🏼👍🏼- Kyle and Renee
Actually yes, we have tried this before in the past and it has worked really well! The problem is, I don't always have the Calgon on hand and have to end up running to the store 😄 I heard that the bleach can affect the O-rings if left alone too long within the storage tanks. The dump valves are prone to be most affected by the bleach...however I have never had a problem and have never heard first hand of this happening before. Plus, I never leave bleach in holding areas too long either. Anyways I am sure you knew most of this :) Just fun to talk about! By the way....it just started snowing 👀We are not in Kansas anymore LOL
@@HappilyEverHanks hahaha. Welcome to the NORD!!! (French version). Ya I even bleach my fresh tank. I do not leave it long and I don’t use a lot. I make sure I rinse it well. BTW it’s not snowing right now here in Ontario. Don’t send it this way.

I currently have Condo and I'm thinking about selling and getting an RV. I really want to take the leap and these videos are helping in my decision making.
Being together in an RV for us isn't too different from a house as far as personal space. I like to hang out in our bedroom, my husband likes it in the living room and our son loves his room which is the toy hauler garage. So if we want to be alone it's not a problem. I struggled a bit with clothes and sharing closet space with my husband, but the more I got rid of the better I felt so I agree that it did get better with time. It was actually harder to give up skinny clothes that I believed would fit me again soon than clothes I was actively wearing. I can't explain it. Not collecting excessive books and homeschooling supplies is something I'm still struggling with.
My husband and I started out as friends at Charity Hospital in New Orleans in 1995. We began dating in 2001, married in 2007. We are definitely partners in crime and best friends. That certainly helps in full time RV'ing. He's a CRNA now and we are in Jacksonville, FL for his first 3 month LOCUM. Picking up our 5th wheel next weekend for full timing. Next stop Hampton, VA for November and December. We have been doing lots of homework before we take off in this RV. Your videos are not only informative, but also funny. We love watching y'all, fellow nurses!
This is so awesome to hear Shannon!! What kind of RV do you plan on getting?? 😃 Love that he is a CRNA (what an accomplishment!!) What specialty of nursing do you work??
My hubby and I are together almost 24/7 just like you guys. Sometimes it’s overwhelming, but luckily we’ve been best friends the whole 8 years we’ve been together.
A tip that has made a difference for us... When backing up have a system of communication and make sure you both know the language . We use Driver side and Passenger side rather than left and right. It has simplified our communication and it works well for us. Great video. Thanks

I’m facing this right now. Im 52, selling my house and seriously downsizing my life to the bare minimum
Perhaps I am too late to this but I am working on my 2 million mile mark as a commercial driver. There are not many places I would want to go back to that are worth going to, to begin with.
Go and enjoy that leap and love traveling and living .

So true!! Being best friends is key to success :) Or being a bunch of weirdos like us LOL
We just saw your video, we will have to come visit you guys down in Montgomery! Sounds a lot warmer than the northeast during the winter 🥶

Y’all are NOT weird, your extraordinarily awesome!!!
I have such an admiration for both of you.
You have a marriage that surpasses all others.
Keep doing you because this farmgirl needs this channel for my downtime, which is extremely limited.
I couldn't agree more with the "freedom" statement. Less is more. Great video again, thanks!
Thank you so much Daniel!
i LOVE How you admit to being weird. THATS THE FIRST part of being a person. Accepting who you are. Go both of you

We hope that we can continue to hear from you on other videos as well, your comments means so much to us ❤️
Winnebago has accessibility options for their RVs and other companies may have them also. Hope this helps.
It’s not always for everyone, but we absolutely love it and it has definitely become our home and new way of life ❤️
Let me ask you... did you enjoy watching this type of vlog coming from our channel? We are looking for honest feedback on the “coffee style” vlog. Trying to be objective as you can, do you think this video held you attention and can bring good value to people? We want to see if we can start incorporating more of this style into our channel

Hey Hanks.

damn how's it been so far?😂
Yes we need some updates 😂👍🏼 lol
@@HannahBeek4021 Hey there! it is so nice to meet you 🙂Defiinitely would love to do that!

That would be such a great addition 👍🏼
Haha thank you guys! So glad our weirdness works for both of you and we haven’t scared you away 😄 love you outlook on life with just rolling up the sleeves. Hey Hanks. My name is Joe. In North Carolina. I am going on eleven years in an stationary rv. I have an older washer and dryer. They are setup out side. when my black tank clogs up, I use the washer to back flush the black tank. Fill the washer
, put it in the spin cycle.
Love this!

@@RVersity great!! 😃👍🏼
Even better you get to have your babies right beside you the entire way ❤️
We can't thank you enough for taking the time to write a thoughtful comment like this. It really brings the most joy to us in our day being able to hear that you will be living life to the fullest through RV living. We look forward to getting to know you more Lakisha!
We are both ER nurses, our heart goes out to you Selina
Yes, it can be overwhelming to make the decision.

Oh glad we could help! Hope you enjoy it! Going to use it again next weekend during travels! Thank you so much for the support! Safe travels!
Ha-ha!
Thank you for sharing all this great information!
When you hit your head on the slide, did it to, I bought swimming noodles, cut them to the size you need, cut it down the middle, put it on your slide, no more head hitting, love you both, you make me so happy when I watch you

It’s hard sometimes, but it’s an amazing life and you only have 1 shot to live it

Here are links to the program and application respectively if you're interested: gdrv4life.granddesignrv.com/community/lifestyle-ambassadors gdrv4life.granddesignrv.com/become-lifestyle-ambassador
I'd rather not give out my name in the open online as it's a family policy not to give out too much identifying info to keep the family safe, but will gladly share more via email or something.
We're planning on paying them a visit if/when we make it out on our own.

Interesting things to know. It would like to travel more but probably not full time.

It's hilarious seeing these vids. I'm a truck driver, I've been out 7 months at a time with just enough space for a bed and a fridge.
