    Welcome to TN!!! We just bought our first camper debt free. We listened to Dave Ramsey early on in our 24-year marriage and lived like no one else so one day we can live like no one else. Looking forward to new adventures. Your advice is so helpful and a hoot to watch. Thanks.

    Another great video! You two never disappoint. I admire you for budgeting and getting rid of your debt. There are many people that could do that but they’re too worried about name brands and the appearance of being richer than they are. It’s rare to see young people that have the discipline it takes to do what you did. I’m 60 y/o and debt free also. It’s a wonderful feeling and I wish I had done it at your age. Well done!!

    Just discovered your channel and enjoy the content and presentation. We’ve rv’d for 45+ years but not full time. We were weekend warriors until I retired 2+ years ago. Owned my finance biz 35 years. As such I can tell you debt is a major issue for most. Regardless of income. Most will spend more than they make. They want that instant gratification. No accident, we prepped for this for 47 years. Kids grown & gone. We are now out for a couple of 2 week trips + a snowbird 6-8 week trip per year. We also are out 4-5 days about 6-8x a year as well. Our goal is being out at least once a month year round. Keeping our sticks & bricks. Keep up the good work. Best to both of y’all.

We are just so thankful that we took the time to create the position we are currently in. It sounds like you are very successful 😃 Congrats to you, this is inspiring!

    Great info, but I will say when we had to use a laundry mat all the time it was more like $15/week for 2 of us, not $15/month. For anyone crunching numbers, that might be a more realistic figure.

    Thank you for all of your honest commentaries! Kyle sitting in his robe outside in the snow literally made me LOL. My family will be embarking on the travel nurse journey in a year and I feel like I definitely need a washer and dryer! If it were just me and my husband, I would take your advice. Very enlightening! We are not even full time yet and have already traveled (towed) 10,715 miles in 9 months. I wish we had kept up with all the ACTUAL numbers like you guys have but instead I have only kept up with mileage, rv park cost, and average fuel difference. We originally got our RV because traveling so much for archery tournaments and we hate hotels, especially in light of the events happening now globally. In the near future we will be upgrading to a larger travel trailer and going a similar route to you guys by downsizing our stuff massively. Love the videos, keep them coming and maybe one day our paths will cross.

    I think a washer and dryer is more of a convince, and not so much a return on investment. People pay $4000 to $6000 in residential units because of convenience, and don’t have the advantage of free water and electricity like we do. We, and when I say we, I mean my wife, loves our washer and dryer. Believe me, if you get one, you won’t regret it. Now that you’re staying in places a month at a time, does that mean there’s a chance you’ll come hang with us in Galveston this winter? Keep um coming!

    • @raycaldwell163
      @raycaldwell163 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There is a definite advantage to owning a washer and dryer

    Thank you for such a useful video. Very helpful. So glad we did this for 10 years in the 80"s and 90"s when we were younger and childless. That's when it's a fun learning experience. Not when you are too old to hike, bike and climb. Many times we were the only ones at campgrounds because RVs were not popular and living in one made people wonder what was wrong with us. It was super inexpensive and provided a freedom that's indescribable. I can't imagine doing it today at such high prices for everything.

      @@HappilyEverHanks Not yet. Our goal is to transition to RV life, though. We just spent the last 17 years homeschooling our sons and are entering a new chapter of life with more travel. This summer was all about pushing ourselves to get out there and tent camp so that we could travel around our beautiful state. But we did just buy a small squaredrop camper and we'll be continuing our adventures in that. We definitely have the philosophy of START NOW with what you have and then upgrading from there without increasing our debt load. Which is why we appreciate your message so much. It's tempting to want to get out there and buy the best truck and RV combo but we're trying to do this in a fiscally responsible way.

And yes Kyle the “big 30” is still young, but I can definitely say the both of you are wiser than your years. It is definitely nice to be part of the “debt free “club which opens up more time to explore and have some stress free fun times along the way.
    It took us some time to rid ourselves of our worldly possessions ie: houses, rentals, and business to realize the freedom from being beholden to our creditors. We keep reminding ourselves how wonderful it is to have no debt hanging over our heads. Such a feeling of true freedom to be part of the club! Cheers to the Hanks, and cheers to being debt free ❤️!

    I really enjoy everything you two talk about. You mentioned portable washers.
    My little portable spin dry washer, that I put in my bathtub on a plastic crate when I use it, cost just under $100 on Ebay and I wouldn't part with it. They do a very nice job if you use and treat them properly. You don't stuff them full, you don't stop the spin before it's finished, etc. I think I've had it about 3 years and I'm still impressed with the good job it does for such a little washer.

      We don't own an RV but are seriously considering getting one to get away from our cold winter weather. Our biggest concern is can we handle it since we are in our 70s.
      My husband is a retired truck driver so the driving part isn't a concern, he's still good there. We're just wondering about everything else. We would prefer boondocking and wonder if there are others in our age bracket doing it. We own rural acreage and would come back here for the summer.

      The portable washer is pretty good also in that you can save water by washing perhaps some delicate things or whatever hardly gets dirty, then squeeze the water out of them, pop them in the spin side and wash your socks, or work shirts, etc. in the hardly dirty wash water. Works just fine and water is saved.
      One thing I also do is wash jeans one pair at a time because they are bulky and heavy and the washer is small. I don't try to make a workhorse out of it and overload it. I also don't use the full amount of time.
      In my experience it hasn't taken but six or seven minutes on dirty things. No need to make the machine run plus use electricity if not needed.

    • @HappilyEverHanks
      @HappilyEverHanks  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s fantastic to hear! We have met many other people that do Boondocking in all ages. It seems like a great way to save some money and get off grid, we are hoping to do this more in the future as well! That’s also so cool to hear about the washer not needing electricity, how convenient!!

      What I should have said is saving water. I was being distracted and not thinking clearly. Sorry. It does use electricity no matter what water is being used, and one has to be careful with the electric cord when using it in a bathtub, shower, etc.
      I put the washer on a rectangular shaped plastic crate (I think they're used in bakeries) which keeps it up out of the water when it empties, then I drape the electric cord over a command hook on the wall under the shower then into a short heavy duty extension cord which reaches the wall receptacle.

      I was also wondering this. We do laundry about once every 1-2 weeks and it’s $3 a load for wash and dry at our current park which is pretty cheap compared to what we usually pay at at a park or a campground. We’re spending a minimum of $30/month on laundry. And that’s not including soap

    We love being debt free! Loved how you showed the changing in cost for RV parks as you learned as you go! Maya said to high paw Dexter for having financially responsible parents! Chasing RV Sunshine ☀️ Joel, Deb & 🐕 Maya

    A very informative video. My wife and I are both retired we only rv part time . We live right in the middle of Louisiana. Years ago we used to do a lot of motorcycle trips Roanoke , Va, Jacksonville, Florida up the east to Myrtle beach SC to the bike rally . We had so much fun and we stayed in a brand new Condo that was doing some half price promotions. A few years later we bought our first rv a toy hauler. We are now on our 5 th rv , we no longer ride bikes due to a 18 wheeler wreck that left me partially disabled. We now own a Jayco 38 ft eagle premier travel trailer . In one of our previous rv’s we traveled out west to many locations . We now do just local trips but enjoy it just the same . Love your channel keep up the good work.

    2 videos in to your content. I'm impressed with you both. I'm very proud of you both for how you are taking on the world and FIGURING SHIT OUT. Very hard to come by in young people TODAY. My 1st impressions in the 1st few mins of video 1 have been dashed. You 2 are cool.

    It was great to meet you at the rally. I checked out the damage to the rv from the tree. Good luck with the repair schedule.
    I have a portable washer that we usually wash the clothes and then take them to the laundry mat to dry. For small amounts we hang them out to dry. The small dryers are jut too expensive.

      Hey Keith! It was so nice to meet you at the rally! Thank you so much for the feedback!! We are still debating getting one of those portable washers! Safe travels!

    The quality of these video productions for someone that is full time RVing is amazing. I like how most RVers possess the skills and ability to produce Hollywood quality videos on their TH-cam channel as they are scouring the Earth for the next place to park their travel trailer.
