Purchased this to replace a guide pulley th-cam.com/users/postUgkxO9seYZjlnuP5UvMkb7osQW3WxPVeSnPk on our John Deere x304 snowblower. As I stated in the title, it is just about perfect. The stock pulley has a spacer at the bottom. I used four washers to emulate said spacer, and it works perfectly now. Great product, and great price especially if compared to typical JD prices.
You need a helmet so you can use both hands and be steadier. And gloves, the arc burn can be significant on longer welds. But not too thick for gloves, you need the dexterity. Chops to building it yourself, keep it up. You'll only get better and better each time. How are you doing 5 years later now that I check out the original date?
dunno if anyone gives a damn but if you're stoned like me atm then you can watch all the latest series on InstaFlixxer. Have been binge watching with my gf for the last weeks =)
Some suggestions for you, run what you call header all the way through larger pipe (small pipe thru large), drill bunch of holes in inner small pipe, within large pipe only, fill outside of small pipe with steel wool...will give it real nice sound and flow better than what you did. What you did was create a chamber that has exhaust gases pulsating within larger chamber disturbing exhaust flow (translation hurting engine performance)
good vid but i have a quick TIP for you guys that do this. knock out that inner piece of exhaust pipe thats left over after grinding. it gives you maximum exhaust flow. the piece can be seen at 2:03
ben garcia Yes, you will want to protect your skin from flash burn because the welding is worse than the Sun and you don't want to get cancer. Don't ask me how I know...
@@robspear03 my welding instructor said he welded some in his garage and couldnt go to work for as few days cause he was so sick. you act like poisonous gas is no big deal

Wear gloves and use both hands on the torch. I like to use my left hand up by the nozzle to steady it and my right to pull the trigger and control it. You'll get much better welds. Dont weld galvanized without ventalation. Remember:A grinder and some paint will make you the welder you ain't. But still try for good welds bad welds crack and break and it could be a really bad day for someone
zenith0000 You're 100% right. I started using my left hand near the torch to steady. Will install a fan of some sort for protection against the smoke.Thanksdvice!
Vasily Custom Builds just dont point the fan directly at the weld. Have it suck away or else youll blow all your shielding gas away from the weld and it will be weak

Yes! I will put one on my ariens snow thrower and cub cadet riding mower. maybe one on the leaf blower. 6hp. I am looking inti fabricating gunmetal heat shiels like the kind seen on military rifles. hmm?
Aside from the not wearing gloves part, not a bad job. The welds themselves aren't neat by any means but the idea and ingenuity is pretty badass. I like the idea mang.
I'm gonna try and do this tmw the only they I would recommend is putting some type of screen over it bc most of these engines run a bit better with some restriction

Thanks man I was a n00b at welding back then, now I somewhat am better. But I would suggest using a lower setting on welder and making sure pipes have a good fit :)

Good work man👍 for everyones info a straight pipe with no exhaust sounds like absolute dooky and backfires sparks. Definitely gotta have an muffler/resonator
Damn, I wish i could buy one, I never tried welding, and I am too scared too, even though my father suggested too, most exhaust are expensive nowadays, but I honestly think yours would be an awesome addition to my off-road go-kart..
Honestly at the time of making this video I did not know anything about welding. I only watched my dad. But it turned out pretty great. now I am pretty decent at it. It's never too late or early to start welding I recommend it. You can start with 100$ harbor freight welder. And yes exhaust are expensive, I am thinking about doing a giveaway some day :) Thanks for Watching!
No, the muffler is low pressure area that creates vacuum and pull the heat away from the heads/valves. As in the video, he did not create restiction ,the larger tube is a low pressure area that creates flow. An engine is a pump. The expression of "back pressure " is not correct, it is just something people said to explain why a engine did not run well with out an header or exhaust pipe. He did it perfectly, but it is not a restiction, as he said in video. The chamber he created is larger area ,the goes right back to the the smaller pipe. This is low pressure area that causes the exhaust gas to shoot out. Vacuum flow, not back pressure or restiction. Also going with too big a exhaust pipe will delete this effect. It would have been better if he had drilled out inside diameter of wash to match the size exhaust pipe going into and out of chamber. If you look at 4 in 1 header the transitions to muffler are smooth and funneled for flow.
I love your videos , can I ask why you put a restriction on it after the first video, and did it help more with or without the restrictions, I was gunna make a strate/ dump pipe for my one wheel peeler
What is the sound difference compared to stock exhaust? Obviously its gonna be louder but is it much louder than stock or what? I don't want to annoy my neighbors too much

Are you using a 210 mig welder or a Harbor Freight 125 flux core welder? This is most important 2nd what gauge pipe are you using this is also important if you want a cleaner look without grinding your weld away. you can make one out of pretty thin steel. no less than 1/8. It will warp and flex and cause a bad seel. The thicker the flange you can cut the better. It does not have any specific purposes.
Vasily Custom Builds that is awesome and helps alot Tank You! I actually still have the seeling part between flange and cylinder. So now I just have to make the flange out of thick steel. :)
see heres what ya didn't do ....put a preforated pipe between the washers and fill that larger tube with steel wool making a modified glass pack exhaust
Sorry, that exhaust is way too restrictive. Exhaust header pipe for a 212 should have an ID of 1" minimum. The flange that comes attached to the muffler is both too small, and too thin to support a header. Best bet is to use 1-1/8" washers doubled up for a 5/16" thick flange minimum.
