      blubyuslowly it literally contains chants that cultists in lovecrafts stories used to summon Cthulu as lyrics. Cliff burton was a fan and opened up James and Lars intellectually

      In fact, there’s a momentary shot in which the glare in James’s eyes is literally the most malevolent look I’ve ever seen on the face of another human.

    Funny fact: That's the first Metallica's song in which guitars and bass are tuned to freaking drop D standard. Well, this is a track about Cthulu (next to "The Call Of Ktulu" and "Dream No More"), so yeah... They needed to get the darker/heavier tone!! And, suddenly, this was one of few (last) tracks recorded before Cliff Burton's death!!!
    On the concerts, they were playing it very usually in C# standard, like during this performance!!!!!

    • @ImThe5thKing

    Primus does a cover where the vocal tremor of the singer adds a 'yes, I've seen this stuff' vibe to the song James misses.

    The guitar tuning on the studio version is the heaviest thing I heard in the 80s, Pantera beat them on the heaviness in the 90s with Underground in America/Sandblasted Skin which is to this day the heaviest thing I've ever heard (that still sounds like a song).

  • @Swampster70
    @Swampster70 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Seems ironic that of all the "reacts too" videos that I've seen from this song, it takes someone from another culture and religion to "get it."
    It's not the fastest or most famous of Metallica's songs but it is the heaviest. A slow grinding monster that pummels all into oblivion.
    I love this song for the slow deliberate grind and the heaviness. The unstoppable power of it is just like a force of nature. That it was retired from the setlist because it was too intense speaks volumes.

    Love that heavy bass riff.....YEAH....didn’t get into them first time around...now at 73 I love them. Love the power of it. Go figure. How about some Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam. Or more Tool? Or hey, how about going back to Zeppelin for a visit..,unless you know all their music already? I lived in Seattle in 1989. Had I been twenty years younger, I probably would have been there. I wonder if they were playing in the Coliseum .....that’s where I saw Zeppelin in 1977....

    • @helenespaulding9372
      @helenespaulding9372 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Mr.SmithGNR Smith sigh....l.that old carp.....some just love to hate Zeppelin. You do realize, that the English bands who came over during that time were ALL steeped in American Delta Blues and Chicago blues? Presley was the first to “steal” from the blues. They all did. Zeppelin became the biggest and became the fattest target. They didn’t think of it as “stealing” back then there was no idea of “cultural appropriation” back then. They all nicked (stole”) from all the different strains of music....and the bands that came after them “stole” from Zeppelin.....and hip hop artists stole riffs from them too. I just get SO TIRED of this current culture that just loves to go back and judge a band like Zeppelin by current standards of cultural appropriation. There’s a cache among some people to hate on Zeppelin because they took those old Delta blues songs for inspiration and twisted them around and put their own stamp on it. I guess as long as Zeppelin is listened to, there will always be those who feel compelled to hate on them. Luckily, there are ALLOT more people who love their music than who feel compelled to rag on them.

Her first hit song was when she was 13, ‘Ocean Eyes.’ She written most her songs but now are co-written with her and her brother who is also her producer. She’s an artist. Nothing wrong with her. I have eclectic taste in music but I always love rock and metal just that little bit more than the rest. Master of Puppets is my favourite Metallica album, so whenever I see reactions to songs from it I click. Favourite song is actually Orion but if it must have lyrics then it's Damage Inc.. I'm not a hardcore Metallica fan (anymore?) as I don't know any album content past Load. Master of Puppets album is still feeding my ears/brain so it's all good.
    All that said, I have a few reaction requests that are not metal/rock related but hope you'll consider them anyway. Scorpion Frog by Infected Mushroom (it's an 8 min instrumental that somehow conveys the moral story of the frog and the scorpion th-cam.com/video/VqE0hAtvECc/w-d-xo.html ), Check The Meaning by Richard Ashcroft (almost rock? but it's a ballad and the marriage between the music and lyrics just astounds me everytime I hear it th-cam.com/video/09IlKuLPNRs/w-d-xo.html ), and Illusion (Korean th-cam.com/video/6HFkXcSaeDM/w-d-xo.html and/or Arabic th-cam.com/video/hsc6IhYvhR4/w-d-xo.html version ) by B.I.G. aka Boys In Groove.
    I mainly listen to rock and South Korean pop aka K-Pop but mostly to the groups/artists that despite talent, are not as widely known. K-Pop is super saturated with new groups/artists debuting every other week and not all of them last. Hoping that B.I.G. will stick it out because I love their vocals and I'm impressed that they did a whole entire song in another language for their Arabic speaking fans.

      @@ArabManReacts I'll categorize them, and you can decide which type you prefer. Softer songs (that have heavy parts mixed in) : 'One', 'Fade to Black', 'Sanitarium', 'Unforgiven'. Heavier thumping songs, similar to the one you just watched: 'harvester of sorrow', 'for whom the bell tolls', 'Leper Messiah', 'sad but true', 'Don't Tread on Me'. Faster songs: 'fight fire with fire', 'Disposable Heroes', 'Damage Inc', 'Blackened', 'Dyers eve'. Riff-tastic epic songs: 'Four Horsemen', 'Master of Puppets', 'Ride the Lightning', 'Creeping Death', and then two amazing classical kind of sounding instrumentals in 'Call of Ktula' and 'Orion'. I mean, there are other good songs, but I feel if you want to capture the essence of Metallica at their best, you try those. If you don't like them from that group of songs, then you probably aren't going to like them.

    Newstead is a great musician and an even better headbanger. Lars was great here and also fueled by cocaine and youth.

    Hate to tell you...but there’s heavier stuff out there...much heavier. Too heavy for me though. Like death metal..,yuck. Metallica is plenty heavy for me. Or Black Sabbath.

    This is one of the coolest Metallica songs but not the most melodic, try "One", their best song (official release)

    Lars is a good drummer but he’s not a good drummer hahaha compared to his love on smashing the sticks on those drums that’s really all he knows how to do it I never heard Lars have a single song where he played different
