Wow , this brought back memories ! My Dad had a Cub Farm All tractor & it was a GOD send ! It sure made farm life easier . I remember one of it's many uses was him plowing up row after row of potatoes with it . Then it was the job of us children to pick them all up .

There are many things to do without spending a dime. Here is what I've learned...
    1. Unplug everything to see what's absolutely needed & only use when needed.
    2. Began to use up fridge/freezer foods, transitioning to shelf-stable only. That alone will save up to $50/mo. to not run fridge, plus avoid losing frig/freezer food during power outage.
    3. Learn to live without heat or A/C to practice. If you have to use A/C to stay alive, get used to warmer temps by gradually raising thermostat.
Ditto for heat, using extra layers of clothes & moving to a smaller room or tent within a room. Go smaller.
*Don't bother with heat or candles at night for safety since you can get under covers.*
I practiced all this during 2° in Texas ice storm. Not perfect, but works.
    4. Heating ideas are many.
Many know the "two upside down clay pots over a few small candles on a heat proof surface" method. Many TH-cams with helpful comments. A cheap long-lasting candle is to put Crisco in a glass jar with homemade wick made from dipping twine into wax. TH-cam's on this too.
Use hot water bottle tucked clothes, cold in summer, warm in winter.
Use a thermal wrap usually in WM sports dept for $10 to keep core heat in.
    5. To cook off grid, put fuel can (like sterno), in oven with lid half ajar with thinist 2 qt pot on shelf over that & loose foil around all. Light for about 2 hours while getting ready for bed, then tap lid all the way on to put out the now half-full fuel can, quickly closing oven, leaving it warm all night to finish cooking. Season when eating to keep smell down due to panic when food runs out. Half cup each beans, rice, flour, filling pot rest of way with water will keep you fed for a day, averaging $73 a year. Enhance as able, but this can be your base (with a multivitamin). Note pinto beans take 2 hrs., but lentils 20 min., so lentils better due to coming fuel shortage. Once people start to scavenge, even twigs may be hard to find. Refill fuel can with rubbing alcohol over cotton balls or TP.
Don't allow your mind to taunt you by thinking of foods no longer no longer available. Be grateful for what you do have
    6. For water, store as much as possible. Keep water purification methods for when that runs out. Locate water sources nearby to purify for drinking, not to bathe or clean (other methods for that).
    7. For light, get things done during day, but small candle only when needed at night, *not to leave burning. Sleep at night, work during day.
    8. To bathe, keep small jar with tbsp of liquid peppermint soap from Walmart (the cheaper version of Dr Bonners) or cheapest dishwashing liquid you can find with clean rag & water. Have separate small jar with teaspoon of bleach & water to store rag in when not in use. Wipe head to toe with peppermint rag squeezed out, never re-dipping into soapy jar, just tipping a little onto the rag when needed. A wet wipe cut in half (to stretch supplies) for personal area, then throw away. Several who live in RVs use this for years & wouldn't go back to regular showers. For hair, use peppermint soap in squeeze bottle sparingly & leaving in to save water, or dry-shampoo with cornstarch.
    9. For self-defense without a gun, if one is unattainable, use Home-Alone style resources, like stacking totes in front of door if in an RV that swings out or pushing heavy furniture against regular door.
Alarms are cheap at Dollar Tree.
Keep a whistle around neck. Even if no one around, it can still cause intruder to flee.
Have cups of marbles near entrances to make it impossible to walk & learn to shuffle through yourself.
Give no appearance of wealth or preps.
Wear plain clothes, using no jewelry.
Place knives in sheaths around which are cheap at Dollar Tree & Walmart. Practice technique.
Pepper spray outside, pepper gel inside. Learn how to hold in air to spray while ducking & quickly stepping aside, to avoid their lunge forward.
Use motion detector lights by entrances. You get the idea & may think of many more.
    10. Barter. Separate out anything you don't actually need, but only show 1-2 items at a time, leaving outside in hidden spot.
    Never open door.
    Never hint of having more.
Negotiate from a window opened only enough to talk. Once they show you what they plan to barter (assuming communication down), have them put by door, then reveal the hidden spot.
Even if they steal & run, after saying they would leave something, you've only lost one or two items. Constantly vary hiding spot. There may be better ways, but you get the idea.
Always ask if they know anywhere you can get food or water because you are almost out.
    11. For bathroom, double line 3-5 gal bucket, pool noodle on rim, putting opt. sawdust or kitty litter in bottom. Bury.
These are basic beginning ideas to get you thinking of better ones.

This so reminds me of growing up in 70s my Dad got some land from a man in 1970 and built a house I started to school that year my neighbor had this Cub, looked just like this one. He was a world war I I veteran that been captured and put in a camp so He had a lot of stomach problems, I work with him on his farm after school and remember setting up the planter to plant, I us to know everything about that Cub tractor, it seemed we were always working on that tractor but we used it almost every day. Good memories this morning 🤗

Thank you Danny for showing the equipment configuration for your cub, you have made it so much easier for me to get the plows and things set up on my cub. Traded for mine last fall and when I got it it was in pieces. Took me just a few days to get it running. It was taken apart more than 15 years ago by the old man that owned it. When he died it sat for some years in his barn then was moved twice before i moved it to my barm.i think pieces were left behind every time it was moved. I put it back together after hunting down some missing parts and now it runs and functions as good as yours. Now I need to find some more cultivator feet and other odds and ends. I have the complete planter/fertilizer system except the sprocket that goes on the bull gear shaft, on order. Also have a belly mower and a sickle bar mower, both in good working condition. I'll collect more impliments as I find them. Thanks again for showing about the impliments, it's been a big help. God bless you, miss Wanda, and your entire family.

I just love seeing that Cub in action, my daddy had a low production number Massey Harris that we spent a lot of time working on, still had the brand new set of cultivators too including the manual, we used to go to the steam shows every summer (me being this little blonde girl that had to sit on every tractor haha) I loved it…. Allis Chalmers, Olivers, and of course his favorite and one I dream of having some day on my future homestead, a Massey Ferguson 35. He was such a hard worker, died of a heart attack the year I turned 30, he was only 65. His big old hit and Miss engine, the one that ran the family saw mill, is enshrined now at that same steam show we used to go to. Thanks for the memories. 💗

Two reasons we watch Danny's videos, first , we live in the Deep South also, in a neighboring state, so we can relate to the things he's doing, second , he shows you what to do and how he does it, to many of the Homesteading channels are just what Danny said, bobbing talking heads, we really don't care for porch time because of some implied politics and religion, those things are private matters to us , so we just skip the porch time, but we love homesteading part for sure. We planted our Peas in July so they are producing now. My father had a Farm-all like that with all the tools except his was the next model up "A".

Others have commented that this video brought back memories, and it did for me as well. My paternal grandfather owned a small John Deere tracker when he lived in Tennessee, and there were many a times that I would sit and watch him plow around his crops to keep the weeds at bay. When I was in my early teens, he let me drive his tractor and I even got to plow some of those same crops. As always, thank you for sharing all that you do on TH-cam, you are both a blessing to so many people.

I enjoyed your usage of the Cub. I did not have enough garden this year to use my Cubs. I will increase the size 6-7 fold for 23. I have several Cubs and it will give me the reason to use them. Lots of Cub equipment, short the planter/fertilizer however. Somewhat older than you, kinda low energy. I personally feel the Cub is the ideal garden tractor.

Your place looks so lush and green. Everything here in Oklahoma is dead or
dying due to drought and heat. Still gonna try and get my fall garden started tho.
    Bless ya'll.
