Oh, in some ways, you sound exactly like me, which makes sense because we’re about the same age. Those are exactly the things that I either think or say quite often. I would’ve loved to have a book and record store. That was a big deal for a long time in my mind. But yeah, technology changes made that not something that I could’ve aspire to when I retire someday maybe if I get to lol.

I'll watch again because i do appreciate that I may be missing something. I am mostly getting the idea that your hobbies are more about sales of things you love than creation. Brick and mortar is dying but that shouldn't affect passion in any area.
As a 55+ I've painted for decades and that market is better than ever. It's a skill you build and opportunities naturally follow.
I just can't quite wrap my brain around why you aren't adapting....maybe you just need to think a bit more outside the box.
I dunno but it'll watch again.

My "dream jobs" would have been a way to engage with my hobbies through some form of job. I love books, but I'm not a writer. I love music but I can't compose. I love games but I'm not a programmer. Engaging with my hobbies at a creative level isn't something that I find myself able to do. It was less about the selling of my hobbies than about being able to engage with them in a way that paid for itself. I love getting new books and putting them into my collection, getting them organized and such. Being able to do that as a job would have been ideal, but since fewer people are reading physical books opening a small book store isn't really financially viable.
