  • We camped at Cachuma Lake Campground in California for a full week and LOVED this park. We took a tour around the campground to see all of the amenities and scoped out which basic sites are the best for RVs.
    Cachuma Lake campground has about 500 campsites from basic sites without hookups to full or partial hookups. For those without an RV or tent, they also have yurts and cabins available on a nightly basis. The park is well equipped with amenities, including fuel/propane, laundry, sani-station, showers, boat launch and boat rentals, a restaurant, general store, and a pool. The nature center is informative about the various animal species that call the area home, and there is also a disc golf course and disc rentals.
    Among the basic sites, we feel that sites 211, 278, 294, 296, 320, 331, 332, 359, 361, 358, 416, 419, 421, 465, 481,and 479 are best suited for trailers and RVs in terms of size and clearance from overhanging branches. Some of the other sites may be suitable, but these were our favorite sites where we would happily park our 25’ travel trailer.
    Nearby (within a 40 minute drive) are the cities of Santa Barbara, known as the American Riviera, and Solvang, a Danish themed town full of interesting shops, beautiful Danish-style architecture, and an ostrich farm. More information on these sites can be viewed in our videos:

      Yes, the park is located perfectly for exploring Santa Barbara, Solvang, and the surrounding area. We haven't been to Los Olivos yet, but will check it out next time we're through.

      We couldn't believe it! For being so close to Santa Barbara, we thought it would be a hot spot for travelers in the winter.

    Good evening, i hope all is well with you. I have a question, Can you use charcoal on the fire pit to cook meals?

    • @HomeARoam
      @HomeARoam  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi, that's a great question! We sadly don't have an answer for you , though. It would be best to contact the park directly to ask their management team.

    hello, which site were you? I love the view and in what month were you there I saw another video and the grass was dry I would love to go and have the view that you had. Thank you

      This was site 416 and we loved it. We recently stayed further down that road on 478(we think?) And it was equally as beautiful.

    Just curious, their campsite pictures look like they don't have classing fire pit rings anymore, but some kind of concrete fire grill. Was that the case when you were there recently?

    • @HomeARoam
      @HomeARoam  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We had a regular campfire ring at our site, and noticed the big concrete grills at the group sites. Hope this helps.

    What camp site number would you recommend for someone that’s going to camp in a Tent , and with a view of the river. Thank you

    • @HomeARoam
      @HomeARoam  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi! Great question. They have a number of premium tent sites that all have a view of the lake. This website shares the campground map so you can plan your booking: www.troutderby.org/getting-here/ Sites 230, 2031, 233, 234, as well as 397, 399, and 401 all look like good bets.
      Happy camping!

    I'm scared to take my cat camping. I am afraid he will run off and get eaten. How do you train your cat to stick around the site and not stray?

    • @HomeARoam
      @HomeARoam  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Really great question! Benny is on a leash and harness when he goes out or between enclosures (trailer, truck, or playpen).
      For a while we wouldn't take him out of the trailer in new sites so that he got used to it and associated it as his safe space and home.
      It's also to our advantage that he is a bit of a chicken and doesn't like to stray very far from the trailer even on a leash.

    I'm not so sure about a yurt... lol I'd rather have the camper, eh?

    • @HomeARoam
      @HomeARoam  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I'm not sure the yurts had their own bathrooms because there were porta potties right across from them in the parking lot.
