@@Southernkhal nice! It’s all about finding whatever works for our workflows. When I switched to this workflow I went from releasing once every year or two to monthly releases, it gets me through the option paralysis of the DAW and right to the creating. Cheers! 😄
Very cool, man. I have been working out a similar process with my recently acquired MPC. I have been learning some ways to do it and, in theory, the audio recording method is what I prefer, but I have to actually try it to see if it's as good in practice as it is in my head haha. I use a different DAW and different hardware, but the principles are similar.
Nice, how do you like the MPC so far? That has stem splitting too, pretty dope! What I’ve been doing with tracks made on the sp is just jam them out, then sync the daw, stem split and then I can mix and rearrange parts etc. I’ll be showing my process in a livestream in the new year 😄
@ Overall man the MPC is pretty great for an all-in-one "mini studio" for getting stuff started outside of the studio room when I don't feel like being confined. I got a couple of the good synth plugins and the piano and rhodes plugins and that covers a LOT of ground for me just with a midi controller. The instruments are pretty good as is, but it really excels when using effects, resampling those parts and using chops to take it new directions. I traded an SP for it and it was a great move for my budget, but my big goal is to get a Push 3 standalone, but I don't think I'll get rid of the MPC to do so. Push 3 has way deeper sound design and synth flexibility and that's a big part of my process, getting weird with synths haha. I think if I can figure something out like this that I can enjoy, getting my ideas seamlessly into Ableton for the final process, I'll get the most out of the MPC. Sorry for the wordiness haha.
I've been hoping for an overbridge equivalent ever since I saw the mkii had audio over usb. The SP has WAY more tracks than the digi, but even individual bus 1 & 2 stereo outs would be amazing. The SP to logic stem split is dope though, I've released a few tracks using that method already, glad it helps!
DT cold sheen remedy....Set Filter Base WDTH to about 100 on your tracks. You still can get the highs to bite using RESO too...but they stay toasty. You got a great workflow. I try and stay out of Logic till I'm done creating too. Peace.
This was great! Lots of cool ideas for effects and arranging! I especially love the vibey plugin and automated delays for transitions! This is pretty similar to my workflow, but I often do the main arrangement as more of a "performance" with manual mutes and effects played as stereo. Then, any additional bits overdubbed or copy/pasted bc i'll record all parts of the loop in isolation. Do you ever work with the loop view in logic? I've tried something similar to this recording modular parts into loops, then performing those loops into the linear view and then editing and automating to wrap up. The bummer is that logic had a hard time syncing with my modular rig in loop view and something was always drifting a bit.
Cheers! Those delay transitions have saved me from a lot of arrangement headaches over the last few years haha I've not really messed with the logic loop view, is it worth checking out?
@@sunwarper It is! It's their take on ableton grid view, but if you like using logic, you can build loops, perform an initial arrangement and go from there!
Cool workflow. How would you adjust if you need to do additional work in the beat machine? Do you suggest making beats in sections/sequences to make printing more efficient 🤔
That’s a great question. I suppose it would depend how many different chord progressions, melody variations etc you’re doing. If everything revolves around the same chord progressions you could make most changes in the daw. Otherwise yeah probably printing each section as individual 4-8 bar loops of stems would be ideal
Love to see the Doctor in the mix there! 😊
Most sounds in the DAW pay a visit to the good doctor :)
Picked up some useful tips, great job on the video and thank you 👍🏻
Glad it helped! 😄
I’m 100% using a Daw (studio one). Nostalgia is one thing. But it’s about intuitiveness and overall speed of workflow. 😊

@ I absolutely understand that. I experienced that when I first went to Cubase. I’ve got everything I need, except the knowledge.
Been looking for a channel like this.
Welcome, appreciate it! 😄

sp404 stereo out + logics new stem split is so genius.... thanks for pointing this out! i hope roland integrates something like overbridge tho

Yes, thanks for this!!! I was using sample rate reduction and bit depth but that’s such a good idea, cheers 🍻
Loved watching you work. Bro it sounds like you’re using a typewriter with how fast you work on that Digitak 😅
Cheers 🍻
I love that sound on the Digitakt haha
