Hello and thanks for the tutorial, I still have a question: to replace the speaker is it necessary to remove all the screws or is it enough to remove only the keyboard and disconnect the cables that connect to the motherboard?
To replace the speaker, you need to lift the hole upper plastic. It is hold my all the screws on the bottom cover, so yes you need to remove all on the back, and 2-3 under the keyboard.
God bless you Acer Travelmate 5742G laptop. When I turn it on, sometimes a black screen appears after turning it on, and sometimes a blue screen says there is an error in the screen program, and sometimes it works for a quarter of an hour and turns off again. What do you think is the reason? You have subscribed.
You can run a MemTest to test the memory. Also remove the memory, clean the contacts and plug it back again. And if you have 2 memory sticks, that to work only one for test. I think there is a problem with the memory.
Hey Yanko, thank you very much for making an Acer Aspire 5742G disassembly video. I already cleaned the fan and heatsink module, but it is still overheating when my laptop turns on and shuts off immediately. Should I replace the heatsink and fan? Thanks!
All depend on the situation. There can be a little piece of dust blocking it to spin, it may need a littlw machine oil to it can spin freely... You will find out when you disassemble it.
Thanks for the video - I'm stuck at around the 1 minute mark though. An ssd has been installed in this one and I can't get it out. Doesn't seem to slide or lift but I've removed the screws - any help much appreciated..
Are you talking about the small board between the ram memory and the regular hard drive. If yes, that is the wifi module. Probably it have some type under it. When you remove the screws just lift it gently on both sides. It should come out.
Please can you help me to locate the speakers, of my 5742 G, which need to be replaced, one of the two is heard close to the cooling fan, but unfortunately even looking at your tutorial I cannot see them. Thank you Franco from Italy
@@LaptopDisassemblydone but 2 week after it gave"pxe media test failure-check cable" error and shut down. I took the SSD back into the cd slot. Why, i dont know :)
hi Yanko, thanks to your advice I was able to replace the Speaker of my 5742G, I saw in your video that the models are very similar, so I contact you, unfortunately the lucky ones who want to change the CMOS battery just remove the cover that protects the hard Disc and RAM and would immediately find it there near the network card, while the unlucky ones like me do not even know which battery to buy as it is connected (maybe it is soldered to the motherboard? Or is it one of those that have cables and connector?) But especially where is this damn battery located? I wasn't even able to identify it from your video, can you help me please? I assume that in my case I will have to disassemble everything to get to replace it, I state I'm starting to use this PC assiduously now and since this is more than 10 years old, sooner or later the problem will arise, I replaced the Hard Disc with an SSD from 1TB while the RAM despite those purchased were compatible I returned them to Crucial because the PC was unable to load the Operating System, I wanted to go from 4Gb to 8Gb. however there is no big difference the SSD disk makes the laptop extremely faster, please help me to identify where the CMos battery is located and what type it is so that I can get the right one. Thanks in advance Greetings from Italy Franco

my 5742z is not working. Even without battery I pluged tothe adapter and there is still no light and nothing happening. Tried to unplugged battery and pushed the power button 30 seconds and then pluged it to the adapter whike pressing Fn +esc but still nothing happaned. What can it be??
You probably have a short on the main 19v power rail. If you have a multimeter try to messure after the first and the second mosfet what is the resistance to ground.
This model is notorious about hinge problem. They start to loose from the bottom cover and brake the plastic. If that is the problem you didn't brake them. They were already broken.
@@olaitanlabs5948 Use some hot glue or else ant try to glue it and put the screws between the upper and lower plastic. It should work fine. But first check is the power jack ok, coz sometimes he get broken also.
@@LaptopDisassembly Yes, I looked for it on the Internet, apparently there is no solution but I do not understand why it happens, I have not broken anything ...
Disassemble it and check is it moving with hand. If yes probably there is something blocking the movement. If it moves easy, probably you have to replace it.

Did you replace the thermal paste. Also is the fan spin freely. Any info about the laptop will be helpful. Any CPU update or...
@@LaptopDisassembly I did replace the thermal paste and the fan spins fine. I also already cleaned the heatsink but still getting hot.
Well can be a faulty cooler, or a faulty CPU.

My fan seems not to work , so is it pointless for me to pick it apart and clean it? Or should I just go to a store and replace the fan?

I saw plastic sticker above graphic processor can i remove it. ?

I disconnect the speaker around 5:10min. You cannot see it on the video, because the speaker is screwed on the top plastic, next to the power button.
@@LaptopDisassembly Thanks a lot
İnstall SSD (i use CD slot) and change 2x2 gb to 2x4 gb ram,. clean fan and refresh thermal.
SSD will perform better if you plug it on the place of the regular disk, and put the disk in caddy on the cd place.
